Penhaligon's Changing Constance EDP is a sweet eau de parfum for women. Sister to Lady Blanche, Constance is what one would call a very modern woman. Her fresh and spicy entrance hits an immediately intriguing note. The blend of cool cardamom and hot pimento is disconcerting to say the least, even for a modern woman. Still possessing a mild affinity to her favourite childhood treat, Constance can always be found sucking on a butter salted caramel as she twirls her Turkish cigar, clad in perfectly tailored cashmere trousers. Constance oozes with an attitude of laissez-faire.

Favourite scent from Penhaligon's Portraits line - purchased this in their 2022 advent calendar (it's still available online in late August 2023) in case you're interested in sampling 8 of their scents in travel sizes. Great value for money and gives you an idea of what each character within the family smells like. Okay, onto Constance. She's a lady true to the name: notes constantly changing and pushing a new note to the forefront. Amber-vanilla-tobacco best suited for the winter months. She's warm, sweet, fierce and strong with salted caramel, spices, cashmeran and musk. Outstanding longevity (2 days on skin, a week+ on clothing) and while it's not a skin scent at first, it fades into the background around the 8th hour. I'm wearing it today because our A/C is finally back on and I'm wishing for winter weather. She's a keeper for sure. I almost docked a star for outrageous price but it's not the scent's fault I don't feel like dropping close to $400 on a full-sized bottle. If you haven't experimented with Penhaligon's scents yet, make sure you get a sampler of travel sizes prior to purchase as they don't offer returns and some of their fragrances can be a miss. Great British niche brand, I keep circling back to The Portraits line.

I absolutely adore this fragrance and it's up there in my top 5 of all time. I went back and forth on purchasing this for a while since it's pricey ($295) but ultimately I just had to have it. It's opening almost reminds me of By The Fireplace (which I also love) but less smoky, more spicy, and more refined. After an hour or so the salted caramel comes through and balances the spice and then after a few more hours, it sits on my skin as a comforting vanilla with the lightest spice and caramel rounding it out. This lasts all day, but definitely dies down a lot, so I can use a top off by mid afternoon, but you can still detect it if you don't. And that bottle! It's one of my favorites!! If I had to give any con it would be that the label looks kind of cheap, being that it's a really expensive perfume I'd hope for something more than a paper label, but it still looks nice and doesn't bother me enough not to purchase. This could absolutely work as a signature scent, it's a go to for me for cooler weather, but I do see myself reaching by for other options when it warms up a bit.

Pretty heavy stuff! I’ve tried quite a few Penhaligons and I think this is the only one that left a somehow lasting impression. To me it’s a fall/ winter fragrance, very long lasting, with strong projection. The bottle is beautiful. I wouldn’t purchase it because it’s too expensive for what you get. And I’m known for spending big on fragrances but only if they are unique and I’m obsessed with it.

I love the top notes of cardamom caramel and pimento in this. It’s not super long lasting but it’s a really nice scent. Has a bit of a powdery dry down with a not overwhelming tobacco.
This is a beautiful, warm vanilla gourmand with some spice from the cardamom and tobacco. The presentation is absolutely gorgeous, and I love having this bottle in my collection. My only problem with this one is that the longevity is horrible!! For the price, you would expect it to last more than a couple of hours.
There aren’t words to describe how delicious and genuinely beautiful this fragrance is. Love at first sniff. I bought it instantly. The caramel/vanilla vibes with the well rounded spice just took my breath away. And I thought I’d hate the packaging but it’s really gorgeous in person!!!
This was one of my best discoveries in 2019 it was love at first sniff 💕 If you like cardamom as a note you will enjoy this one as I smell it throughout the journey of this perfume. This beauty Opens with a blast of freshness mixed with spicy cardamom notes , a creamy Salted Butter Caramel note beautifully shines out to soften the spicy notes. This beautiful journey ends with earthy tobacco and sweet vanilla. It’s an amazing blend in my opinion, intoxicating, elegant and delicious ❤️❤️❤️ Every note is just right and well blended with the other in a beautiful harmony.
Oh what to say about my love for this sultry intoxicating fragrance.Imagine your sitting by the fireplace on a rainy night surrounded by books wrapped in a blanket with the faintest scent of tabacco. Your sipping a warm vanillic salted caramel cream drink .It’s topped with toasted pillowy marshmallows drizzled with the same Caramel of the drinks contents sprinkled with sugar crumbs. You are being told the greatest love story of all time that feels like yours. Don’t let the sweetness deter you. It’s not overly sweet But masterfully blended with its spicy and woody notes as well as the sweet ones .It’s something that is nostalgic yet romantic, regal yet common .Unfortunately the longevity is weak as it becomes a skin scent not long after after you spray. However on ... MoreOh what to say about my love for this sultry intoxicating fragrance.Imagine your sitting by the fireplace on a rainy night surrounded by books wrapped in a blanket with the faintest scent of tabacco. This is such a yummy gourmand perfume. It’s sweet a little spicy and has an amazing gooey Carmel and vanilla note that’s to die for. It’s an instant favorite if you like gourmands try this! The only bad thing about this is that for the big price tag it does not last long on me no matter how good I prep my skin.
This fragrance for me was literally love at first sniff it has beautiful caramel notes light tobacco notes vanilla and slightly spicy it is sooo beautiful been wearing this throughout winter. Again not the best performing fragrance it is one that needs respraying a couple of times.
