Pentax 20x60 SP WP Binoculars
Pentax's 20 x 60 S-Series SP WP Binocular can be used with confidence in all weather and lighting conditions. The 40mm objectives are fully multicoated to reduce reflection and maximize light transmission through the entire optical path without making them overly cumbersome for a long day on the trail. Utilizing the traditional porro prism configuration gives scenes a rich depth of view for an immersive observation experience and provides a comfortable feel in the hand with a lot of surface area to maintain a sure grip. The coatings ensure bright and clear high-contrast images even in low light. Large objective lenses incorporated in the design allow for contrast-rich, bright viewing under all light conditions. Premium multi-layer coatings assure the maximum light transmission through the binocular. The result is bright, crisp, true-to-life images in the widest range of viewing conditions. Specialized protective coating (SD models only) repels dust, water and grease to keep your optics clean and your image quality at its peak. Rigid body construction makes these binoculars extremely rugged to maintain optical alignment. This ensures comfortable viewing throughout the life of the product. Waterproof and nitrogen-filled (JIS Class 6) to handle the most extreme weather conditions (submersible to 1m).

Good quality that You would expect from Pentax. Optics are sharp Construction is solid and comfortable. the focus is a little stiff. The eye cups are hard plastic i would have preferred rubber with maybe a little side cover. The objective covers are just plastic push on type but OK, The eye piece cover is a single cover for both eye pieces and completely useless.Overall A good set of binoculars and worth the price.

Ive been using this binocular for a couple of years now. It is possibly a 4-star binocular (compared to Nikon), but considering the great price, worth 5-star rating. Its not your all-around binocular for everyday use. I actually use it as a low powered scope. Although its 20x, its as useful as a 30x scope because of better field of view and three dimensional effect. Eye relief is so long that I need to adjust them a notch even with glasses.

I was very disappointed when I first purchased this item. I couldn't get anything but soft images and the color fringing was terrible. I had a hard time believing they could be that bad, so I kept playing around with them and trying to get a better image. What I eventually discovered after several weeks was that the eye relief is very sensitive. Getting your eyes too close produces soft results even though the view appears to be aligned. By adjusting the lens cups to the first notch and just touching my eyebrows to the cups, that eye relief distance suddenly produced sharp images with little color fringing. I am now starting to use these binoculars as I intended.

Everything good but be aware: Needs a robust tripod and head for anything but the most cursory viewing, and that means buying a bracket at least 90mm high Narrow angle of view means finding the target is not all that easy. Item was despatched by the Australian importer C.R. Kennedy so it is not a grey import with possible warranty difficulties.
I have some Pentax 10x43 binos and so know that whatever they produce it will hold up well in use. What is great about these 20x60 super binos is how well they fit in my hands and how easy it is to hold them steady despite the 20x magnification. I have 10x32 Swarovski binos and they are more difficult to hold steady.Adding a bino adapter to use a monopod for support is a good for subjects on the land but I bought these for stargazing and doubt that my monopod will be tall enough. This is why I like how easy it is to hand hold them and view through them for extended periods of time. They are lighter than my 7x50 binos and I realize that they may not hold up as well with their plastic construction but at the price I do not care all that much and expect if they are ... MoreI have some Pentax 10x43 binos and so know that whatever they produce it will hold up well in use. I was a little hesitant at first, but on a tripod these binoculars are superb for long distance viewing. Was looking for something that you can transport and use in the field without the added weight while on a budget! So far so good, and time will tell!!
I bought the Nikon 20x56, Vortex Kaibab 20x56, Pentax 20x60. I bought the Pentax last. It was a good thing because I would have been disappointed in the Nikon and the Vortex had I bought the Pentax first. The picture quality is right there with the more expensive ones. 3 to 5 times more expensive. I'm not disappointed in the more expensive binoculars because the view is really good. The Pentax are impressive because the really good view is inexpensive.
Very happy with the binocular, well packaged, fast delivery and extremely professional. Highly recommend this company to anyone and will definitely buy again. Keep safe & God bless!
They are fine for my purpose of casual birding, wildlife tracking and astronomy, given their reasonable price. They are clearer and brighter than I expected. Could they be clearer & brighter? Yes, but that would cost more in money and weight. They are usable hand-held for brief periods but are much steadier if you can brace against something or use a tripod/mono-pod. I wear glasses so the long eye-relief is very welcome.I would recommend them to anyone who wants good enough at a reasonable price in place of great at the cost of much more money and a big gain in weight. This is not my first purchase from B&H and they continue to live up to the high standards of service & quality that that they provided in the past.
Although the FOV is narrow, I use these for astronomy use.At specific objects such as M45, [ the Pleiades ] and others, they are terrific. A very good flat field almost edge to edge.Very bright and clear views in daylight, I checked them on a rainy, cloudy day and the view was astounding on terrestrial objects. Great binoculars at a great price. But keep in mind, at 20x, to get the best views you will need to mount these on a tripod or monopod. They are a terrific and excel for intended viewing if you are not looking for a wide field of view.
