A Poor Excuse

These binoculars would be tossed deep into the woods by any hunter with an eye for a shot. Tossed into the deep blue by any sailor looking for an horizon. Bird watchers might catch a few nearby tweeters to peak at. Useless resolution at over two hundred feet - now that is a piece of sheet.

Solid well made binoculars. However, its optical performance leaves a lot to be desired. The image is bright, but details are washed out. Also sweet spot is quite small, if you take into account the narrow field of view (5 degrees), this is pretty bad. I wouln't recommend this unless you are able to examine one closely and are satisfied. Could be the sample I have is bad. Also it is difficult to get the right focus because of the lack of contrast.

I’ve owned a Pentax 7x50 binocular for over 30 years and because it still works well decided on a Pentax 10x50 S series SP WP binocular as a birthday present for my son. The binocular shipped well and arrived earlier than expected. It was easy to set up and worked as advertised. I now feel confident my son will have many years enjoying this quality product.

Pentax vs Nikon
20 February 2019

It has better build quality and lightweight. You can easily hold this bina without a tripod. Even my kids can enjoy without shake. The images up to Two KMs far appears quite sharp. I can even read the signboards on the freeway from my balcony. However, I am unable to focus objects that are more than 2KMs far. I am several folds happier than my Celstron if I compare with Nikon, Nikon Action EX appear to be a tad sharper and better built. Both are priced similar.

Bought these to take to the beach in Florida to watch a NASA rocket launch. Fantastic glass for he price. If you don't have a pair of these you need to get a pair. Fog and water resistant, the 50mm objective is all the light gathering lens you need. Effortless focusing, easy to use and not too heavy.

Very Good Optical Quality. Well Balanced
23 March 2020

Very good optical quality. Precise focusing. Well balancedHaven't tried it in rain or bad conditions, yet. When locking the central focusing wheel, sometimes have to jiggle the wheel slightly. Doesn't appear to impact sharpness of image. The adjustable eyepiece rings may be a tiny bit loose. Don't have enough experience with binoculars to know what is acceptable play. Doesn't bother me or impact performance, as far as I can tiell

Very Pleased!
10 July 2020

I bought these mainly for bird watching and they are quite wonderful. I have old tired eyes and wear glasses so the 20MM eye relief is terrific. As another reviewer said, the dust caps are very loose, but I glued on some rubber shims and the problem was easily solved. They now stay put when I take the binoculars out of the case. I was out with my telescope the other night and brought them along just for fun and was very impressed with how well they performed in this regard also. Much better than I had expected. I'm even going to order a tripod mount for them. That should take care of the shaky hands problem too!

Worth the money. You get what you pay for!
4 March 2022

Sturdy construction. Smells new. Decent weight to them. The central focus lock can be hard to use. Objective lens nice and dark for stargazing no fancy colored lens. Need to try with my glasses as I have astigmatism. I was amazed at how many stars I can see compared with my eyes. I wish the objective lens cap were attached. Dont use with tired arms it gets heavy quickly. I was prepared to pay good money for a decent pair, this set was the best I could find for the specs. Now I know alot about binoculars thanks to research.

great binocular
6 July 2015

Very short minimum focus distance, very clear and bright image. They seem really well built, tight, solid and covered completely in this rubber armor. Remember to rotate the viewfinders to get them to the correct viewing position. I do not like the covers, especially the back one (on the viewfinder). Time will tell how well the binocular will work, but the first impression: 5 stars. rdp

just what I was looking for
1 July 2022

I photograph with a Pentax camera. I really like their optics. This set of binoculars did not disappoint . The view is very bright and clear. They are fairly light to carry. At 10 power you can still hold them steady. I use them primarily for whale watching. Very happy with this purchase.
