The manufacturer has drastically degraded the quality of the litter. I've had this box for nearly 2 years now and had no problem with it up until a few months ago. Whereas before the litter waste would get raked into the waste compartment with no problem, now the kitty litter just gets absorbed and sits in the box, without getting successfully raked into the waste compartment. I imagine the manufacturer has downgraded the quality of the litter due to raise in cost of all things this past year. That said, the cost of each box ($24.99 w/o shipping) is no longer commensurate with its current lifespan of each litter box.I have two cats and went from changing the litter box every 2 week (per the instructions) to every 10 days. My cats are also having a hard time with it nearing the 10 days and don't want to use it. I don't blame them.I'll probably look into upgrading to a higher quality litter box like the litter robot.

Bought the automatic litter box because I was going out of town for 6 weeks and wanted to make changing the litter easier for the individual coming to care for my house and cats.Got home and the entire house reeked of the chemical scent added to the litter. Immediately removed the new box to the garage and put in the old box. The scent is stuck in everything! I've had a perpetual sinus headache since I've been home that only abates when I leave the house.Every room smells of the artificial scent added to the litter; even the rooms which had doors closed while I was away. The 2 main rooms still smell heavily of it. I walk in and can still smell that awful (explitive) fragrance added to the litter.I'm questioned and criticized that it's not really the litter. ... MoreBought the automatic litter box because I was going out of town for 6 weeks and wanted to make changing the litter easier for the individual coming to care for my house and cats.Got home and the entire house reeked of the chemical scent added to the litter. Asked if it is something else. I wish it was something else! But no one can offer a logical alternative for what is causing the smell and its adverse reaction not just to my sinuses but some of my kids, too.Everyday that I am unsuccessful in removing the smell is further negatively affecting the members of my family more and more. The litter may be great. It worked while we were gone. But it needs to come in an unscented option! My advice: If you want or are interested in this product, sniff the litter packaging before you buy it. If it bothers you through the packaging or smells even mildly strong, then don't get it!

This product does not work as advertised. It’s a great idea and I wanted to like it. I forced it for quite a while because it was expensive. But the boxes leak. After only a handful of uses I get a puddle of urine leaking from under the box and the cardboard tray is soaked through. The crystal litter seems useless in absorbing liquid. Thankfully I had put a rubber mat under it so it didn’t ruin my floor but the mess was more of a hassle to clean than just scooping every other day would be.I tried giving it the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe it was just a bad batch, but over six months I’ve gotten leaky trays about half the time.Save your money and the headache. This will not make your life easier.

I absolutely love these tray's !! I have 3 adult cats . I have had my ScoopFree Complete Self-Cleaning Litter Box for almost 2 years now. I did buy a reusable tray in the beginning and would just refill the litter and this has worked for me.It was still scoopfree which is awesome!! . However I still had to clean the reusable tray itself , emptying the litter into a trash bag (praying I didn't spill), cleaning scrubbing disinfecting the reusable tray etc. I injured myself a few months ago and just taking those extra steps to clean that tray caused me extreme residual pain for hours I grew to dread littler box cleaning day .I remembered I still had a tray unopened from when I purchased my box 2 yrs ago and never opened it !!!I put it in , set it up and the following ... MoreI absolutely love these tray's !! I quick swipe with a cleaning wipe, slip the new tray in and out to the trash it went . Took less than 10 minutes !!! I purchased this 6 pack immediatelyYes the trays are more expensive but I am happily paying for the ease and convience , no smell , no muss , no fuss and no pain and aggravation .My cats are happy as well because with the reusable tray the separator part that sticks to the magnets would sometimes fall off and then either they wouldn't use the box or if they did it really was a mess to clean because they would end up getting doodies on the plastic part .So I would recommend these trays 100%
Im a miniature Nigerian Goat named Zipper. Since Im more of an “AC” Goat my Mom %26 Da trained me in 1 day to use the automatic“kitty litter box - I told Mom it was my “Kiddie Box”. Mom loves that I use at night without waking her, Da loves it cuz he says my peepee was stinky, but now with the best Kiddie Box on the market with crystal that conceal urine smells -no smell, no dust like other litters , easy for a little guy like me to use and Mom %26 Da are happy everyday. When its full, weeks later %26 i drink alot! Mom just pulls out the cardboard tray and pops in a new one full of pretty blue crystals. Mom says the only thing she doesn’t like so much is the price but she says I’m worth it and they do last longer for a no hassle pet care for busy local business ... MoreIm a miniature Nigerian Goat named Zipper. These blue petsafe crystals do NOT last as long as they used to last nor as long as the company claims.I have 1 cat and have purchased these blue crystals for a couple of years. The crystals used to last at least 3-4 weeks per tray. In my last 4 purchases of the 3-pack blue crystal trays, they barely last 2 weeks yet the price of the 3-pack trays INCREASED.Petsafe, what happened to this product?? Did the amount of crystals per tray decrease? Did the quality of the crystals decrease? Did petsafe change manufacturers? Eitheway, petsafe must bring back the quality/quantity of the blue crystals, reduce the price accordingly and/or change the advertisement so the consumer can make informed purchases. Shame on you petsafe! DO BETTER!!
The box itself works great but don't let them fool you - the litter trays have INCREASED 48% in cost in the past year while the company brings in 25 million in profit. When asked why the price increase, they tell you it's due to operation costs but yet their bottom line has stayed intact. This litter box is now a useless hunk of junk sitting in my storage locker waiting for the day petsafe brings prices back down to a realistic range. They truly want you to pay 25$ for a tray of litter that lasts maybe 3 weeks. And at this rate they'll be asking you to pay even more next time you need ot re-up.Again, save your money. By the time you've bought this box and less than a years worth of their litter you could have bought one of the really nice 600$ ones that takes ... MoreThe box itself works great but don't let them fool you - the litter trays have INCREASED 48% in cost in the past year while the company brings in 25 million in profit. i have multiple cats and cleaning litter constantly was horrible. i looked into expensive self cleaning litter boxes that were quadruple the price of this one. so i got 3. best decision i ever made as a cat mom no joke! i tell everyone with multiple cats especially about this box. i alsp found that if u want to put a bit of work into it u can actually reuse the tray a few times. mine doesnt last as long as it should bc again i have 7 kittens and already had 4 adult cats (i know, i know thats alot and ur right it is). i was so sick of doing litter but these have been amazing. u do have to take care of them and clean them up. i just take a clorox wipe to the top and u can pretty much use any crystal litter in them fyi.
