I am new to protein powders so have no comparison with other powders but I'm so happy with this one that I see no need to try a different brand. There is a great range of flavours though my favourite is Belgian Chocolate. The powder is very fine so mixes really well. I find it mixes better if you put the water in first and then the powder rather than powder first. Given a good shake in ice cold water it's a delicious, thick and creamy milkshake. It fills me up enough that I don't feel the need to snack so that's a bonus. Will definitely continue buying it.

Texture and flavour is fine, though not quite as good as Scimx I think.PhD have the best prices I've found.Nutritional info is far too limited for this type of suppliment. Contains a veriety of protein sources but does not state the ratios, so no way to tell how much is casein and soy protein. Also does not list the different amino acid and glutamine ammounts, only the total BCAA content.Price is unbeatable but limited ingredients info brings the rating down, people care about that kind of thing when taking suppliments.

**Accidentally wrote my review for this on the wrong flavour, so this is my review for chocolate**I have had low calorie protein powder before that were absolutely amazing. Unfortunately that brand is no longer in stock at H&B, and so I stumbled upon this product as a potential replacement. First impressions upon opening the bag was that the powder was very clunky and didn't want to break up. I mixed it in with my overnight oats anyway, eager to try it using roughly 30g, and what was the most disappointing for me was the lack of flavour it has. I could barely taste any chocolate to it at all.I've only had two scoops of it and will be looking to buy a new product immediately.

I bought 2 bags of these, the Belgian Chocolate and Chocolate Orange. I opened the Belgian Chocolate first and noted that it smelled delicious but the compliments stop there. I mixed one scoop with 175ml water as instructed and after shaking it for 2 seconds it foamed up so much I thought it was going to burst out the shaker. After 10 seconds of shaking it was full of lumps and a large amount of the powder had sunk to the bottom and I tried to use a spoon to mix it in. I added more water...this did nothing. The first mouthful of this stuff almost made me retch. Imagine adding some water to an entire pot of granulated sweetener; that is what this tastes like. I really like PhD Diet powders. I have been using them for a couple of years. They taste great (I find they don't have what I can only describe as a weird dairy-protein taste overlay) and I LOVE the consistency; it is what drew me to the range and why I continue to stick with it. I want my 'protein shakes' to have an actual shake-like consistency, rather than simply being what is effectively sweet water, which is what I find other protein powders result in. For those that complain this does not mix properly: as long as you put in the water first and the powder on top, you should have no issues using a protein shaker with mesh ball (I consume one scoop at a time). I also put in an ice cube so that might help, too. I do agree that my memories of attempting this ... MoreI really like PhD Diet powders. I have been using them for a couple of years. I also put in an ice cube so that might help, too. I do agree that my memories of attempting this without a shaker/ball and/or just trying to use a spoon to mix it are not so fond. I would advise shaking this anyway to get the thicker 'shake' consistency. With regards to the chocolate flavour, I do not find this too sweet by any stretch and am somewhat surprised by those reviewers that do. My comparison is MyProtein, which is god awfully sweet, in any flavour. The chocolate flavour tastes really good, too; I would say the chocolate smell is stronger than the actual chocolate taste itself, though this is the first chocolate-flavour powder I have tried so I have nothing to compare it too.I also have the White Chocolate Raspberry (tasty, but UNREAL with a small handful of real raspberries shaken in); the Cherry Bakewell (good; personally I wouldn't buy it again but only because I really like other flavours instead. Otherwise there are people who rave about the flavour); and the Cookies and Cream (I cannot really remember the flavour but it was the first one I ever purchased so it must have been good as it turned me into a repeat customer). As a disclaimer: if you have not tried PhD Diet powders before and are looking for something to mix into anything other than liquid, this may NOT be the powder for you. I tested two powders (PhD Diet and MyProtein, which makes a very watery shake) with Greek yogurt in equal proportions (yogurt in grams, powder in tablespoon measures). MyProtein mixed in superbly, while the PhD resulted in a very thick, fluffy, paste-like substance. Perhaps I should have tried adding water to see how it resulted thinned out but hey ho.Summary: PhD Diet powders taste great and will result in a lovely, thick shake-like drink that is enjoyable on its own. The chocolate flavour is not too sweet, doesn't have an after taste, and has a nice flavour. If, however, you are looking for a powder to mix into yogurt or similar, this might not be the best choice.
First time user, got it to boost my protein intake. Bought two flavours, only opened the Belgian chocolate one so far and I love it. Prepare it with ice cold water, or tap water with 1 large ice cube init, use a shaker with agitation ring and it turns into a sweet and satisfying shake that is exactly what I need after workout. Worked well as seasoning for porridge too. It does provide a solid 3 hrs sensation of satiety. Versatile enough to be used at different time of the day depending on your individual scedule and/or goal. Love the less than half price sales. The only disturbing thing is that I and my son who tasted it, finds there is a very dominant coconut flavour to it despite coconut is not even on the list of the ingredients in any shape or form. It may be called strawberry delight but there was nothing delightful about the flavour. I stupidly bought this because it was on special offer. I usually buy another strawberry flavour sold at H&B and I was very happy with it. Next time I will stick with what I know! I've never been so unhappy with something I've bought (as you can tell with this rant!)
PhD makes outlandish claim that it tastes of Belgian chocolate - not in this universe! Not at all like chocolate, barely even hazelnut flavour, with a gritty, chalky texture (even after vigorous shaking to mix) & a flat, slightly bitter, artificial aftertaste. Just kak. Gets two stars for supplying the protein constituent it claims, but that’s all. Other brands like Optimum (worth the extra money) put this to shame. Please restock Optimum, Asda!
I can only imagine that the high reviews for this product are from people who haven't tasted other brands, as it's one of the worst I've had.Texture is powdery, no matter how much water/milk you add and it eases down your throat like a cup full of biscuit crumbs. Taste isn't great (mainly due to texture), tastes a bit more synthetic compared to others. It's actually the only powder I threw away rather than trying to finish, so that sums it up right there!! Don't waste your money, go for another brand.
