The Quad Stream is recommended for people with braces or dental work, and I have been using it more due to the fact that I have a crown and it seems to be more gentle around the gum pocket of that tooth. For travel, the 3000 is pretty compact considering what it is - you can put the tip inside the water tank to make it fit a little easier in your bag. Philips advertises 14 days of use per charge, and I really, really, really like that this thing has USB-C charging. Philips deserves praise for understanding how travel works - I only carry one charger on the road and it's great to be able to charge my phone, laptop, and even potentially this device without having to stuff yet another thing in my bag. Instead of letting the water dribble out of your mouth like Philips suggests, I hold for the full 15 seconds then spit; cleaner with less splatter. It works better than a toothpick and just as good as floss, but nicer to your gums.

One thing that surprised me is the amount of water that splashed everywhere when I first used it with my mouth open, you have to close your mouth when doing so if you don't want water splashing everywhere. After a while your mouth will fill up with water of course and then you can spit it out. At least I had to do that otherwise I would have water everywhere in my bathroom. I did notice it did clean my teeth, specially in between and also the gum area, its like flossing, but with water. Of course you still have to brush your teeth so I use the device once a day (at night actually) after brushing, before going to bed. I guess you can consider it a personal device, but I looked around and saw that replacement nozzles are very cheap so I plan to buy and extra pair of the quad stream ones so my partner can use them at night too, we would just switch nozzles after each use. I highly recommend it as flossing is as important as brushing your teeth and this is a great replacement for floss.

If you've never used a water flosser before, I'd recommend using warmer water. Colder water can hurt if you're not prepared for it. Luckily, we live in Texas where even cold water comes out of the tap at room temperature. For cleaning, a nice feature is that you can clean the reservoir in dishwasher's top rack. The instructions say to use mild soap and water, or dishwasher. For cleaning the actual flosser attachments, you need to use vinegar and water. I don't think those are dishwasher safe and we haven't tried. It also has instructions for dealing with orthodontics. Because it's a portable one and doesn't require a base like mine, it doesn’t take up too much space on her counter - which is nice since space is a premium. She's flossed everyday since she opened it and highly recommends it if you're looking for a good water flosser.

In the box you’ll find a charger, USB-C cable, the power flosser unit, the water tank, and a pair of nozzles. Charging the device for a couple hours will fully charge it and Philips claims you’ll get 25 flossing sessions from a single charge. While I haven’t verified that claim yet, it has been powering away for the flosses I’ve completed without issue. I appreciate the USB-C charging, as that means it’s pretty universal. However, as previously mentioned, its size makes it hard to imagine taking this on the road (not impossible, but not something you’d fit in a small toiletry bag. Usage is pretty simple. Simply click in the nozzle of your choice. Fill up the tank, put it in your mouth, and push the power button. The device will spray for 15 seconds, then give a pulse and pause for you to reposition. The intent is to spend 15 seconds on the front of your upper teeth, then back of your upper teeth, then front of the bottom, and back of the bottom. 60 seconds lined up pretty well to the tank size, as I found each run required a refill. This isn't so bad due to its portable nature, and the easy fill tank that makes it quick and easy to fill up. Using it took a bit of practice to be fully comfortable. You need to stay on target the entire time and get the teeth right around the gums. I definitely turned the intensity down the first couple times. I did use the quad stream, and liked that nozzle a lot. The first time I used it my gums bled pretty well. They were inflamed, and not in great shape due to my lack of flossing. After just a couple days, my gums felt firmer, not inflamed, and healthy. I was surprised at the results. I wasn’t expecting a battery powered device to be as effective as it was. Philps really delivered here. The device has 3 intensity settings, and a deep clean pulse setting. The intensity setting of medium was where I started and it was still a lot. By day 3 I was using it at full intensity without too much issue. You can hold the intensity button to turn off the 15 second pacer, although I found that setting essential. The device has a 2 year warranty and seems to be built quite well. There is no user replaceable battery, but I’m still rolling on a 4 year old toothbrush with amazing battery life, so I’m not too concerned. Nozzles are designed to last 6 months. Overall the Power Flosser 3000 is a solid product. I love the benefits that Philips has brought to my life with their products, especially the battery powered ones. I highly recommend this flosser!

However, since it is not connected to a basin via a water tube, the water that escapes my mouth just falls down and does not run down the tube. So in that scenario, the Sonicare is less of a mess. The only issues I have with it so far is it hard to get the basin to dry out after each use and when attaching the basin your concentration is not spiling the water, so it is easy to accidentally hit the power buttons as they are flush with the grip. With extended use I know the accidental button presses will diminish, but when first using its easy to accidentally spray yourself.

At the moment, this will not replace my dental floss entirely since I was unable to verify how much plaque remained. However, this water flosser will definitely be part of my oral hygiene routine.
I will start this review by saying that I have very sensitive gums as well as cold and hot sensitivity on my teeth. So, this review is mainly for people who may be suffering from these same symptoms and what they can expect from this device. Out of the box you can tell it is a very quality product, I would expect nothing less from Sonicare. The build quality is great, using very thick plastics to give it a solid feel in your hand. You can either unscrew the top or there is also a little latch on the bottle that you can open and refill it without taking the top off. Here comes the first problems I had with the device. I wish there was some kind of lock feature so that even if you press the power button the unit won’t turn on. Often times when I was filling it, I would accidentally hit the power on button and it would start spraying water all over the place. You have to be very careful when handling or unscrewing the top or this will happen. Once I got that figured out there really is only one other control and that’s to set the pressure, I guess you’d call it. There are 3 different levels that you push one button for and it cycles through them. The level is indicated by 1, 2, or 3 lights. As stated, before I have sensitive teeth with cold/hot sensitivity. I also have a hard time flossing the regular way because my gums bleed very easily. That’s why I thought this would be a great alternative to traditional flossing. I found it very hard to get a water temperature that didn’t bother my teeth. Either too cold, or too hot and it was very hard to get it just right. Once I was able to get the right temperature, I found that the device worked well at getting things out from around my gums and in between my teeth. If you have sensitive spots on your teeth, be prepared to experience a little pain though when you spray them. I had to use the lowest setting, because at the higher ones it was a little painful to use. One other thing to be aware of is that this thing is continually spraying water in your mouth for a minute so you have to simultaneously spit out the water while using the device. It does pulse every 15 seconds to let you know to switch to a different quadrant of your mouth. I think it would have been better to have it go for 15 seconds then stop to allow you to spit out the water, then push the start button again to continue to the next quadrant. That way all that water wouldn’t be building up in your mouth. So, just be prepared that its going to make a mess when you are using it and you’ll have to be bent over the sink to avoid getting water everywhere. You pretty much get 1 use out of 1 tank full of water so you’ll have to fill it each time you want to use it. The device itself is also pretty large and won’t fit in most cabinets or drawers easily. So be prepared to have it sitting out on your countertop. With the spray head on, it is 12 inches tall. Overall, it’s a great concept and is very effective at spraying things out from in between your teeth and around your gums. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have a lot of sensitivity though. If you can deal with a little water splashing around it would be a great option for you.

Inside the box along with the Cordless Power Flosser comes, F1 Standard Nozzle, F3 Quad Stream Nozzle, USB-C Charing Cable, USB Wall Adapter, and User Manual. At first glance this thing looks kinda big and somewhat awkward to hold, but you'll get used to that in no time. Now you can fill up the reservoir one of 2 ways, either through the side port on the reservoir tank or twist off the top part of the flosser and fill the tank through the wide mouth. Once you have your tank full, simply reattach the top portion of the flosser and add either the Standard Nozzle or the Quad Stream Nozzle until you hear a click. And you're ready to go. Caution: Do not press the power button (like I did) before you have placed the nozzle inside your mouth. I pressed it not realizing (and I don't know why I didn't realize what was going to happen) that it was really ready to go and water shot out really fast, spraying my face and mirror. So just be careful. Now on the front of the power flosser you can adjust the intensity of the water pressure and change the setting from Clean to Deep Clean. The Standard Nozzle felt really good, but the Quad Stream Nozzle felt amazing. After using it the first time, it felt almost as if I had just left my dental office. This is an amazing product and I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice cordless power flosser and its accurately priced in my opinion. One final note, the battery life on this flosser has been superb. Philips rates this as having a 14 day battery life. So we'll see how that holds up, but so far after about a week's use, it's still going strong.

The battery on this unit can last up to 14 days and can be recharged easily with the provided charger and USB-C cable. I have had this unit for a couple days now and I love it. I brush twice a day and have been using this water flosser between meals and it get into every nook and cranny to get all the food particles out, leaving your mouth fresh and clean. Comparing this unit to a unit that a bought from Amazon, I can honestly say that the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser has a lot more power than the other unit. The Sonicare also has the built-in timer to make sure you get everything, but my favorite feature would have to be the deep clean mode on this unit. The deep clean sends water at high and low intensity for a thorough clean. Overall, I would recommend the Philips Sonicare Cordless Power Flosser 3000 to anyone in the market for a portable and powerful water flosser.
