Overall impressions after testing out the Philips Air Fryer HD9218 model for the past two weeks have been mostly positive;Design – I quite like the piano black finish which really stands-out from other appliances in my kitchen and the gloss makes the product quite sleek giving the impression that this product looks more sophisticated and somewhat more expensive than it really is. The no-fuss timer and temperature controls are easy to use, despite the temperature dial being a little loose on my particular review unit (it wobbles a little when setting the dial), but works nonetheless. The grill attachment and bottom tray are easy to manage. The retractable power cable was a surprise and I found it very convenient. One small nit-pick is that I wished the power cable was a little longer but not a deal-breaker. What surprised me most about this product is just how light and portable this air fryer is, it was by far much lighter than it appeared with its compact plastic exterior build (and non-stick metal tray/grill construction). In terms of size, given just how compact the product is it fits in nicely in the cupboard with ease considering this is the smaller air fryer in the range.Cooking – In terms of operating the product, it works as intended – for most meals. For the positives, I really appreciated the quick warm-up of the product. Cooking on the other hand was surprisingly quicker than my previous air fryer. While other participants in my review group were given the XXL version, it was quite difficult to cook larger cuts of meats due to the smaller tray size of my review unit. Overall, I was quite impressed by the quicker cooking times and the results of most meals, but felt the recommended cooking times and temperature guide should be reviewed as this wasn’t reflected with some of the meals I’ve cooked with this product. If there were some negatives, it would be that the timer cannot be stopped or wound-back and the lack of a window to check on the cooking process. Despite the capability of baking cakes, I felt the small tray size wasn’t sufficient and none of my cooking trays fit inside the air fryer.Cleaning – Cleaning this product was a lot easier than my previous glass-based air fryer. For manual/hand-washing, the non-stick surfaces of the bottom tray and sides of the attachment easily clean without issue with regular detergent and a non-abrasive wipe. The metallic mesh part of the attachment doe’s require a little effort (sometimes a pre-soak in detergent prior to cleaning) with either a brush or scrub sponge and most food remnants will eventually come off. Cleaning the exterior of the product is easy, only requiring a very gentle wipe-down to restore the stylish glossy appeal of the fryer.Operation - I felt the controls were adequate despite the basic appearance (compared to the XXL version with the digital dials and display). The sound omitted from the air fryer is acceptable; it’s in no way a silent machine or the noisiest either. The vents were also adequate during the cooking process but expect most food smells to escape into the room or area.Final Thoughts – Overall, the Philips Air Fryer definitely surprised me; the sleek and sophisticated design as well as the glossy black finish is definitely a crowd pleaser. The quick start-up and efficient operation of this product was probably the biggest benefit, the quality of most food cooked with this air fryer was definitely the biggest surprise with moist and tasty meats to crispy and flavoursome finger foods that didn’t require much cooking time at all. The only negatives I could find with this product so far are: the small tray size limiting cooking options, some inconsistent cooking times and temperature settings on the paper quick guide, the lack of a window or screen to check the cooking process to the fixed timer that can’t be reset or stopped if you make a mistake. This is a product best suited for those that want to cook a quick meal without the fuss, the HD9218 model in particular is ideal for small families especially during the colder months when cooking outside isn’t an option.

I've never used an airfryer before, so I was really looking forward to seeing if this lived up to the hype. On first impression, purely on appearance, it looked sleek and minimal and looked lovely in my kitchen. It also seemed really straightforward and easy to use, so much so, that I didn't even look for the user guide. Having unpacked and set it up, I was very excited to try it out.On the first use, I found it as simple as I expected, just a case of setting the temperature and then the timer. Having never used a airfryer before, I had no idea of how loud they were supposed to be, however, my husband commented on how noisy it was while he was in the next room. The tray was really easy to take out and to clean afterwards and although it was deep, and big enough for what I used it for, bigger families may need a bigger tray.I cooked several different things using the airfryer, such as chips, vegetables, chicken and sausages and have been really pleased with the results when compared to using a conventional oven. The food was crisp on the outside , evenly cooked and cooked very quickly. The only issue I found was that the cooking guidelines on the top of the fryer weren't too accurate, with some things cooking a lot quicker than stated, so you really have to keep a check on the food. I would have liked to try more recipes from the nutri u app which is associated with this product, as there are so many suggestions on there, however, as I only had the slotted tray, this was not possible.I'm very pleased with my airfryer and use it for anything I can. It's been a complete gamechanger for me and has made cooking, something which I've never enjoyed, so much easier, particularly when you're a busy mum. I use my oven a lot less, with the food tasting so much better in the airfryer. Despite a few little niggles (and I was really struggling to find any!) it's completely exceeded my expectations.

Great reviews of this air fryer. I’m loving the simplicity and use it frequently but my only issue is that I feel I’m underutilising it, as I wanted to purchase some accessories eg; a wire rack so I can double up my meal by putting some food in the bottom, and some on top with enough room for air circulation. I can’t find anything on line to fit my ( almost) 7" X 7" square drawer. Can you help. Would also like to buy a cake tin. Really love my Philips compact air fryer but would love it more if accessories available.
I absolutely love this airfryer, it has completely changed the way I cook. We are eating healthier meals and not spending as long in the kitchen. There are loads of recipes to follow on the NutriU app and even if we haven't followed them to the letter they have been a fab inspiration. We have made THE most amazing chips from scratch too, and cooked chicken thighs and fish to perfection. My husband loves the simplicity of it too and is using it at least once a week - I'm not sure he's ever used our oven so this is a miracle. It doesn't take up a lot of space in the kitchen either, my last airfryer was big and bulky and just didn't come close to this one. It's fantastic for small families and eay to clean too. I was so excited to get this airfryer, it's the first time I've ever used one or even tried food made in one. I wasn't sure what to expect, but let me say, this is better than anything I imagined it would be! The food tasted amazing and was cooked fully every time. I have been trying to lose weight but it's been difficult because I've had a hard time giving up the foods I love. This airfryer allows me to still be able enjoy the fried foods I love so much without having to cook them in grease or butter without having to compromise the flavor. I've been able to lose 15 lbs in less than a month cooking with this airfryer being the only change I've made. The Philips - Essential HD9200/91 Airfryer is a nice efficient air fryer. It takes no time to cook food. The non stick basket and base are nice. Nothing really sticks to the inside surface. I like how easy it is to clean.Anytime I cook food in it the food comes out perfectly. It's hot and delicious. The first thing I tried in this air fryer was eggs and sausage. The eggs came out like hard boiled eggs should. They peeled easily and the eggs were perfectly done. This product came out of the box ready to use. The only complaint I have is that it is kind of hard to determine an accurate temp and time based on the analog dials. There should be more time/temp markings. Sometimes the done bell doesn't ding. The ultimate goal in having an air fryer is that it makes for being super convenient and a healthy way to make a meal specially if you're pressed for time. No need to wait to pre heat an oven, having to add any fats or oils to your foods or use the many pots/pans and wash endless dishes. Choose the food you're cooking, place in the basket, set the temp and timer and you're all ready go.What I have noticed is the timer is NOT accurate though. It seems to take longer then it should. If I set it to 25 minutes to cook chicken thigh, that 25 minutes wound up being 30+ minutes. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or is it because you have to pull out the basket to either shake or turn over the food a couple of times during the cooking process. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or is it because you have to pull out the basket to either shake or turn over the food a couple of times during the cooking process. The temps and times used for cooking is only ideal if your basket is filled to the capacity line. Using anything less, you will have to monitor the cooking time as it will get done quicker then the recommended time. Also, if needing to turn off the timer manually, it is VERY HARD to turn back the dial to zero to turn off and the timer bell is not loud enough to alert you it's done. The numbers on the dials for the timer and temp setting are very hard to see. Very small to be able to set correctly the settings so you wound up cooking at a higher/lower temp then you intend as well as longer/shorter time period . I'm personally not fond of this particular unit and seems more work then it's suppose to be BUT for other, it might just suit them to a T.
Before trying the air fryer, I never would have purchased one and saw it as something that I really didn't need and that would be relegated to the cupboard after a few uses. The fact we haven't used the oven since receiving the air fryer speaks for itself. My partner, a chef, commented that it is frighteningly convenient. The air fryer is super convenient if pushed for time as you don't have to wait for it to heat up as you would a conventional oven. The basket could be a bit bigger but does well for 2 people if you are cooking a side of chips for example or the meat portion of a meal.I have tried cooking everything from asparagus, to sausages and chicken thighs, to calzone and Croque Monsieur. Jacket potatoes were particularly delicious, with lovely crispy skin and fluffy middles. I have found that I can just leave it to do it's thing without constantly checking and turning items, which is great for freeing up time to do other household tasks. The analogue timer is slightly hard to get the exact time you are looking for as it's an egg timer affair with some resistance, putting it back to zero if you have finished before the timer pings feels like you are forcing it and I am slightly worried about the longevity of this knob. The basket and fat catcher are really easy to clean being non stick and size wise it doesn't take up that much counter space. This version is ideal for a single person or couple and I can also see it being really useful for students.
thank you for f/up. The flyer is very noisy (i think it is the fan) and the wind flow seems very strong, and the flyer paper got burn easily [since day 1 of purchase]. My friend said her philip flyer is not like this! As it is not broken down, I didnt ask for return/ exchange. However, i would much appreciate if Philip can look into this.I was a philip supporter , and that is why I usually comfortable to get its products online. However, recently, I bought a philips cooker from lazada, it was faulty and had been returned. My experience with philips is that the overall quality of philips drop in recent years.
