Before digging into the details, I am not a disgruntled customer, just sharing my experience on the Philips Aquaporin RO Water Station, and it's coming from someone who has 4 other different Philips products such as the Series 3000 Air Purifier, Series 9000 Shaver, etc...In any case, I have purchased the first Aquaporin on the 5th of June from Harvey Norman, followed all the "first time" instructions, and there was always some kind of chemical taste in the water. Called the distributor (Powermove) and they sent an instruction on how to flush it to get that fresh, pure tasing water. Alas, that didn't improve it.So, I was then advised to return it to Harvey Norman (after a month of having the appliance, without any improvement on taste), to get a replacement. ... MoreBefore digging into the details, I am not a disgruntled customer, just sharing my experience on the Philips Aquaporin RO Water Station, and it's coming from someone who has 4 other different Philips products such as the Series 3000 Air Purifier, Series 9000 Shaver, etc...In any case, I have purchased the first Aquaporin on the 5th of June from Harvey Norman, followed all the "first time" instructions, and there was always some kind of chemical taste in the water. Called the distributor (Powermove) and they sent an instruction on how to flush it to get that fresh, pure tasing water. Alas, that didn't improve it.So, I was then advised to return it to Harvey Norman (after a month of having the appliance, without any improvement on taste), to get a replacement. Which I did. The replacement however, had the same issue, and so I gave Harvey Norman a call (after 5 days of having the appliance - because at this time, I gave up) and discussed options of returning it.The representative at Harvey Norman was very helpful, and I asked them to test it, and when they did, they too have confirmed the chemical taste in the water (and this was from their own water source).Another issue with the appliance is that, after about 8 to 10 hours (so by the end of the day), for some reason, the water in the raw water tank starts smelling (despite having freshly filled it in the morning). No matter whether I filled it with tap water/filtered water, or even when I bought bottled water (for testing) the smell remained, so did the chemical tasting water. Also, because it is advised to always fill it with fresh water, you need to discard the already filled water in the raw water tank. There's a split in the raw water tank, when the one on the left side (from an angle where you're looking straight at the machine) is low, it advises you to refill it, and if you want to follow the instructions, you'll have to discard the remaining water, which means that, the right side which has about 1 litre of remaining water will go to waste (or you could re-use it for watering your plants).I really wanted to like this product, my primary reason of spending that amount of money to getting it, was not for its filtration, I do have a complete home water filtration system and an RO under the sink. I primarily bought it for its water heating and water volume feature because I am obsessed with high quality tea, so I wanted something that would give me the right temperature and the right volume of water. You might think it odd, but not for me (lol).Based on my experience, however, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this to replace both my aging kettle and ceramic water filter jug. I liked the reverse osmosis aspect as well as being able to instantly boil a hot cuppa. I was shocked when I found out the price of a replacement filter and dissapointed with the metal/plastic taste of the boiled water. I've been using it for a few weeks now, so there shouldn't be any unnatural tastes to the water in my opinion. The filtered water in the jug is fine so it must be the instant boil part that is causing the bad taste. Sadly I regret spending so much on this product and am tempted to return to my old set up.
