I chose it because it is lightweight (most irons are too heavy for me even without water in them). Also because it's Philips, a steam iron, has Calc Clean, a long cable, good size water tank and spray function. It doesn't come with a water jug but I already had one and the cable doesn't wrap around the iron for easy storage but I can live with that. I would definitely recommend this product!

It was a big challenge to be able to iron a shirt made of very fine material such as thin silk or a shirt made of heat sensitive material such as polyester (or in combination with viscose) seeing the poor reviews of this iron , although my iron also has a scratch on the sole. But despite those reviews, mine did the job, and still well! It is very light in weight, but I bought it for my daughter, who had health problems in her hand, because of which she lost many jobs. But now she needs to iron her clothes almost daily, and I wanted to make her task much easier. When I have to buy myself another iron, I will choose the same brand: Philips

Really disappointed with this product and the service from JL.Would expect any modern steam iron to be able to easily iron a cotton shirt.Only plus is it is easy to fill with water. This does iron is incapable of doing this.On returning was only given a partial refund - along with some technical jargon to justify that the iron was 'half the power' of other brands, and you get what you pay for.

I bought this because of the price and because of what it does. It helped that a demonstrator was there to tell me how to use it.It really does work well as a steam iron, and I have no regrets on buying something so much cheaper than the other steam irons available. That said it does have drawbacks. The water tank is quite small, which for me was a plus, less weight, and a break in ironing let's me stretch. But you do have to remember to refill it.The major issue is what to do with the cable when you finish, it doesn't coil around the iron, doesn't have a clip to bind it all together so if storage is a problem that could be a deciding factor
I chose this iron because I had my previous Phillips iron for over 25 years, and only needed to replace it as the wire had frayed. I wanted something that was lightweight and easy to use, that is exactly what I got. If you have arthritis and find heavy items hard to use, this is the product for you. It glides over items effortlessly, and leaves them smooth. I am very pleased with my purchase, and hope it lasts as long as my previous one.
I recently purchased this Philips steam iron because firstly I liked the look and colour but the main reason was it is lightweight and so easy to use. I had my old Philips iron for 13 years and loved it but felt it was time to buy a new one. My husband does most of the main ironing for me because I have painful arthritis in my hands & wrists but he wanted a slightly heavier iron. I bought him a new iron but found it was too heavy for me so I then treated myself to the new Philips GC1751/89 which I love. I do a lot of sewing and needed a lightweight iron and one that had a good narrow front for ironing difficult shapes and fiddly items such as face masks. It's easy to fill with tap water, the dials are so easy to use, it has good steam output settings and gives a good shot of steam when required. I would recommend this iron to anyone that wants a lightweight iron that still does a great job. We are the only couple I know that has a his & her's iron! Many of my friends say their husband doesn't even know where they keep the iron so I guess I'm very lucky.
Good Points: Much lighter than some irons but still does the job. Easy to add water and very clear how much water remaining. Very happy with this iron.Improvement Points: A slightly longer lead might be good and the temperature adjuster moves a little too readily; I occasionally just catch it with one of my nails and that is enough to move it so if you are not careful you could accidently change the temp, however there is a noise when the adjuster turns which does alert you to the movement so it's not a major thing,
We bought this because it was the lightest we could find. We were so pleased that when it failed (sorry 'bout that....) we bought an identical one, and recommended the same model to our elderly neighbour who was finding her old iron too heavy. We oldies aren't as capable as we used to be. We're getting older, see??? So we really appreciate the lightness of this model.
Its fantastic! It's lightweight, making it easy to handle. The best part is its versatility with different settings.First, the eco mode is great for saving energy while still getting the job done. The calc clean feature ensures that the iron stays in good shape, preventing any buildup that might affect its performance. The steam settings are adjustable too.I really like its fabrics setting too.Overall, it's user-friendly, lightweight, and packed with useful features. Ironing has become much easier and efficient with this iron!
I am enjoying using this Philips EasySpeed iron. It is lightweight and glides smoothly over garments. There is a selection of heat settings and the steam boost is really powerful and useful. I particularly like the fact you can use tap water as you can use the calc clean slider and don’t need to pay extra money for ironing water. There is no mess either of droplets of water over your clothes as there is an in built drip-spot system which stops your clothes getting stained with water marks. Overall this is an excellent iron and great value for money.
