This is a well built unit that cooks very well, however, we found a few things that were a drawback. The mesh in the bottom of the food basket was difficult to clean. Food would embed in the delicate screen, especially cheese, which was tough to remove. The unit does not pause when you pull the basket out while cooking is in progress. The temperature dial was stiff to turn for those of us with arthritic hands. Mostly, the the biggest drawback was the capacity of the cooking basket which was just too small compared to another air fryer we had. So although the food cooked well and was lovely and crisp, there were too many minuses for us to keep this unit.

I've been using this product for 8 months now and I'm so glad I decided to buy it. I'm sure it has saved me a lot of money and time which I would have spent heating up the conventional oven. It is great for heating up croissants for breakfast or individual fruit pies for pudding (warm and crisp in mere minutes); it cooks frozen foods such as fish fingers in less time than the grill; I can make delicious fresh chips in far less time, with a fraction of the oil, and less mess or smell than in the conventional oven. The only down-side is that the basket can be a little tricky to clean as oil gets into every crevice, but the benefits far outweigh this small inconvenience.

Sick of cleaning the gloop from the bottom of the deep fat fryer - not to mention the guilt trip each time I served greasy chips - I bought an Actifry. The stirrer didn't turn & i hauled it all the way back to the shop. A friend in Germany praised her air fryer & I ordered one, which arrived quickly from Amazon. It's the best! None of the assembly faff with the rotary fryers. Everyone agreed the chips and sauteed potatos were loads better and my husband comments every time I find a new use for it that it's been the only gadget he has ever thought worth the money. I use it as a mini oven for small quantities of anything which I don't want to hover over a grill for. Since buying it, it's replaced my oven by about 70%. I now cook potato waffles, chicken, fish, patties, ... MoreSick of cleaning the gloop from the bottom of the deep fat fryer - not to mention the guilt trip each time I served greasy chips - I bought an Actifry. Best of all, the kids wash the basket with the dishes. No more grotty oil to dispose of. I can't believe i've never seen these on sale or advertised... I'm recommending them to everyone :)

To begin, this air fryer is extremely easy to use and to keep clean. It will heat food that you put into the air fryer. I’ve only heated store bought frozen hash browns and tater totts.I was expecting near perfect deep fried potatoes and was disappointed to find them soft and slightly damp. They were too hot to just pop into my mouth but not crispy the way one expects from a deep fryer. The concept is great and is probably much healthier than soaking up gallons of deep fryer oil. I love the ease of use and the easy clean up.I have mixed emotions concerning this product. It’s easier and better quality to use my electric oven broiler feature to make crispy potato foods. Also, I can broil many times the quantity of food all at once in my oven.I can only air fry ... MoreTo begin, this air fryer is extremely easy to use and to keep clean. I love my Philips air-fryer. It makes truly crispy foods, with little or no fats. What an amazing invention. I am excited to cook with it because I had avoided fried foods for many years now, in order to gain my health and lose weight. After maintaining a 200-pound weight lose for going on 25 years, fried foods were just not things I ate. But no more! I have made onion rings, fried squash blossoms, super crispy French fries, fish sandwiches, and cannot wait to discover other new recipes. I love it so much I bought a second one for our vacation home. Even my skeptical wife, worried about it taking up valuable counter space, loves this air-fryer. Do yourself a favor and get one. And get a Philips, not some off-brand inferior knock-off kind. I can’t recommend it more.
Bought one these to replace an earlier version. It still cooks as well but they’ve removed the temperature light so you don’t know when it’s up to temperature; the temperature dial is very sloppy (+/- 10C) and the timer cuts off far too early. With experience you can get round all of these issues but they make the machine a bit tacky considering the price. No wonder it’s heavily discounted.
What a waste of money. Everything sticks to the basket. Tried simple Tator-tots and half were cooked, the other half were just mush. Everything I've tried to cook in it turned out terrible. It's a guessing game what temperature your actually cooking on and another guessing game as to how long to cook your food. The only good use that I have got from it, is that it's great to set your iPad on the top of it while recharging.
I have used the philips viva air fryer for months now. Overall, I am satisfied, but it's not perfect. I don't think it's worth more than $70.Pros:Makes More Crispy WingsBetter hot air circulationCons:Causes excessive smoke when cooking(due to uncleanable oil and grease trapped inside)Timer dial knob is not accurate.I am satisfied for the price I paid ($70 or something). But I wouldn't pay more that. The selling point for the philips brand is that the bottom of the tray has a fan shaped deflector that helps generate hot air from the bottom back up to the bottom side of the food. This feature is proved to be effective. I have compared side by side with the Gourmier brand with making air fried wings. The philips always gives out drier and crisper ... MoreI have used the philips viva air fryer for months now. I have compared side by side with the Gourmier brand with making air fried wings. The philips always gives out drier and crisper texture.Philips purposely make the max temp to be 390 instead of 400 in order to give way to its more expensive model. But even at 390, it seems to be sufficient. The timer knob is not so accurate, e.g. turning to 4 mins or less would not turn on the thing. You need to turn to at least 5 or more minutes for the air fryer to start. Also, after a few months of use, oil and grease are trapped inside the fan and heating element, making the air fryer generate lots of smoke . I can now only use it in my backyard. The Gourmier brand doesn't generate this kind of smoke even after a year of usage.
I bought this Air Fryer in 2012 from HSN. I don’t even think these were available in store at that time, I’m not sure. I have used this thing for ELEVEN years with zero problems. It is the only appliance that I keep on my counter and use all the time. In recent years, now there are so many shiny new air fryers that catch my attention and I want to upgrade soon and pass this one to my college daughter. I really just decided tonight that I will be purchasing another Philips Air Fryer. I don’t care about all the frills of others, because I haven’t ever been able to write a review about a product that I have used nor loved as much. Mine still looks so good, the basket around the edges is worn but that about it. I just wanted anyone looking at these reviews to read a ... MoreI bought this Air Fryer in 2012 from HSN. I got this as a Christmas present from my mother-in-law, I love to cook and would consider myself a good chef. I tried something simple first time in the air fryer- frozen French fries, they cooked perfectly and in less than half of the normal time in the oven! I was very impressed. I then cooked Marinated chicken satay from a recipe in the book that came with it and they turned out great! But the real test for me was something that I normally would fry in oil- fried chicken.. I did a boneless, skinless chicken tender in full batter that I dipped in egg then batter then "air fried" it turned out excellent!! It was absolutely the same but minus all the oil. It was crispy, juicy and the breading didn't leak through the basket or anything, I am sold on the Philips air ... MoreI got this as a Christmas present from my mother-in-law, I love to cook and would consider myself a good chef. Super easy clean up, I always line the bottom basket with foil and it makes cleanup even easier. Basket it big enough to feed a family of 4 in one or two batches. Overall Great product!
