I had heard a lot about how good air fryers were and thought it was all just a hype - the flavour of the month so to speak. I visited a friend who had one and after hearing from her how pleased she was and all the things she used it for I was convinced to give it a go. I’ve now had my air fryer for just over a month and all I can say is WOW!! Do yourself a huge favour and get yourself one. I have not touched a fry pan in the last month! I’ve cooked chicken breasts, homemade chicken schnitzel, sausages, meat patties, steaks, homemade apple pies, sweet potato chips, cookies and much much more. Everything I’ve made has been quicker and with almost no added oil and so much easier to clean up afterwards. I’ve since convinced my mum and daughter to get themselves one each ... MoreI had heard a lot about how good air fryers were and thought it was all just a hype - the flavour of the month so to speak. We got the Philips - Premium HD9650/96 Airfryer XXL after having bad luck with a different brand. I was reluctant but so glad I did it. The basket is HUGE. I have a family of 5 and can throw in enough for all of us! I also have picky eaters so if I am cooking something for the rest of us, my picky eater can get chicken nuggets and fries with no extra effort on my part. The best thing is, is dishwasher safe, so I’m not left to clean it out by hand when we’re in a hurry. There’s preset settings for things like fish, chicken, beef etc. That are easy enough that I taught my son how to do it so he could throw in Nuggets himself for a snack. I made salmon and Brussel sprouts in it the other day that came out excellent, so I am impressed that it’s not just for frozen food, ... MoreWe got the Philips - Premium HD9650/96 Airfryer XXL after having bad luck with a different brand. I’ll be trying new things, for sure. There’s an app that can be used to get recipes that show you step by step, which I love. It gives you directions on preparing and the airfryer settings so it’s very easy. The app is a must have! Thankfully, I have a pantry shelf for my smaller appliances because I’m not sure I’d have enough room on my counter because this unit is a bit large. However, it looks nice and cleans up well, so I really wouldn’t mind it sitting out all the time. I tried to find a downfall and honestly, the giant size was the only thing I could find. Ironically, that’s also my favorite part!

So many defects from beginning. I had an older model that worked 7 years. I thought it was time to get a new one. On second day I realised that drawer won't close and is 5 mm out. Searched over the web, turned out this is common issue with current model and you have to fix it by yourself at least once a week!!!! Then power button started to play. sometimes I have to press it firm to turn on / off that pushes the fryer on top-bench. Philips did a good job with fat removal technique and easy to clean / wash , but they missed quality control. I did not add photos, however you can find thousands photo of defects over the internet.

New to Air Fryers
30 January 2023

This is my first air fryer. I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. Every day I experiment with different foods to test its capabilities and I have not been disappointed. It is fast, cooks vegetables, chicken, fish and baked good really well. I have only used the manual selection so far and using oven times and temps as guidelines. Some times the airfryer is about the same as a regular oven sometimes it seems quicker. What I love is there is no warm up time, and cleaning is a breeze. It's quiet and doesn't heat up the whole kitchen in a Queensland summer. Would definitely recommend.

Not perfect but I still can't live without it.

As a huge fan of the Philips AirFryer range, I started off with the smallest model years ago, moved onto the XL and then to this XXL model. After many years of regular use, this is now my second of those because I seemingly wore the first one out. And therein lies my only real complaint. Despite the fact the instructions specifically direct users to clean the components in the dishwasher, this did ultimately affect them to the point of breakage. After around 3 years, the fat reduction piece that goes in the bottom of the tray became brittle and broke into three pieces and the metal connection between the handle and the tray followed suit and also broke. This made it difficult to shake and pour food out. So why the 4 star rating? Because, in spite of these issues, I ... MoreAs a huge fan of the Philips AirFryer range, I started off with the smallest model years ago, moved onto the XL and then to this XXL model. Because, in spite of these issues, I still can't imagine my life without the product and the years between buying new and then replacing still make it worth the money (as long as there's a sale on). Nothing beats the AirFryer for quick meals involving frozen fish, chips, chicken and things like that. But it even cooks a steak so good that I now hesitate to buy one in a restaurant! No product is perfect but the use our family gets out of this brings it pretty close.

Phillip is the OG and the best

Look, dont even bother looking at any of the other brands. If you are looking for an air fryer just get a Phillips and thank me later. This model has smart upgrades from the original XL. The basket is in two components (the basket where the food sits and the outer basket where the fat drains to). The baskets slide out so smoothly and remains attached to the machine. So you dont risk dropping anything. The inner basket has a removable mesh bottom which is easy to clean and the outer basket has a removable base cover which keeps the fat separate. All parts are so easy to clean and your food is crispy and not dry. I cook meat and chips in it frequently and I love the way it cooks lamb chops - mouth watering and fast!! This is a great product! Trusted brand.

Although I am happy with the product, I chose this rating because there is a problem cleaning it. The whole slide out attachment is not removable for ease of cleaning. When I pick up the basket, the bottom plate does not come up with it, there is no clicking on mechanism, I have to pick up the solid container separately with a pot holder. Also, the unit doesn’t have the capacity to hold 6 litres of food, the area and measurements are smaller. I couldn’t fit a whole chicken in it as advertised or put in a loaf of bread to heat up without touching the top and burning it. I recommend upgrading it with these for future models.

Time saver and healthier cooking
20 October 2022

When the airfryer fad came on the scene I thought it was a bit overrated. I wasn’t against airfryers but there wasnt anything I couldn’t do traditionally. I received one as a birthday gift and am so happy about it. So convenient, quick and just great when you have kids. It is so good for reheating pizza and pies! I love that the parts can be chucked in the dishwasher and it is so much better for cooking smaller portions in lieu of the oven. It does take up a bit of space but the pros outweigh the cons. I don’t think that it is big enough for a whole chicken but it is great for wings. Fantastic product!

Used constantly, not sure how we got by without it
25 September 2022

We had an older Philips air fryer (& a no name before that) and were looking to upgrade to the larger Philips model. Best thing we've ever done, from garlic breads in minutes, to trays of roast vegetables in a third the time as our standard oven. Also great for quickly reheating slices of pizza, pies or a quiche without them going soggy. Finally, it's very helpful when people drop by unannounced, we just throw some dumplings, Kiev balls or fries in, serve a round of drinks and we're sorted. We thrash this thing to bits and unlike other brands, the heat is hit and consistent across the tray, even when using the rack for multiple levels. We got by without it but honestly, who wants to wait 20min for their standard oven to heat up, when it then also takes 2-3x longer ... MoreWe had an older Philips air fryer (& a no name before that) and were looking to upgrade to the larger Philips model. Why did I wait til now to jump on the bandwagon?

I purchased my Philips HD9650-93 Avance Collection Airfryer XXL about a month ago and I absolutely love it! I don’t use it for chips (shelves are currently empty) but I use it now to cook most meals except stir frys. It cooks meat to perfection!! Chicken, beef, pork all come out deliciously juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. All parts are easy to remove and very easy to clean. You can even put them in the dishwasher. I really don’t know how I lived without it. Once again Appliances Online had the best price and next day free delivery. Legends!!
