I used this door sensor on the sliding glass door that leads to our back deck. We wanted to have a good way of monitoring the status of this door when we are away from home and this was easily added to our existing hue system. Installing the physical device did take a couple of tries in order to make sure everything lined up correctly and that the door was able to move freely. Initially, I place it too close to the door frame and when the door slid open it caught on the frame and the door stuck but this was easily resolved by adjusting the placement slightly.We use a combination of Google Home, Home Assistant, and Philips Hue apps to manage our smart home devices. I have put this on my front door as it has an old lock on it. I put the window on the one side of a double window. I did test them with my daughter and worked great.

It’s on my apartment door so I know when maintenance is going into my unit. The alerts to my phone are real-time so I receive the message as it happens. So no anxiety there. Nice.
Hooking up to the bridge was a breeze! I hooked up the bridge first, which was pretty easy to do. Scanned the QR code on the instructions, and brought me right to the setup. Plugged the bridge to the outlet and then plugged into the router and waited for the lights to turn on. The only thing I was confused about was that it stated that three lights were supposed to light up, however only two did. It still was connected, however. The sensor was hooked up to my back door. It states in the directions that it needs to be within .8 of an inch near the top glossy part of the sensor. This needs to be accurate in order for the sensor to work!
