It is ironic that we have moved from using switches with smart lights to voice activated, and now back to a switch (well technically both modalities may be used). We love this device for our living room Hue lights. It offers a nice compromise from having to get into the app on the smart phone to turn lights on, or even to use Alexa voice commands (something a bit of a nuisance in the middle-of-the-night letting the dog out to pee).I had a bit of a hard time getting it paired with the bridge, requiring several resets using the button on the back (I'm still not sure what the issue was), but once it paired, programming it in the Hue App was very straightforward, and offers many features. This switch can be mounted anywhere with the baseplate, and the actual remote ... Multiple taps of the "on" switch advances the lights through five different options of lighting scenes of your choosing; these are programmable in the Hue App.The two middle buttons are dimmers, allowing any one of the scenes you have selected to be dimmed to suit your taste.Overall, we really love this little device.

This is the simplest way to add a light switch without fusing with wires and potentially shocking ones self. If you already have the Hue light system in your house, it is as simple as adding a bulb. I was fortunate to find it on sale at Bestbuy. So simple and elegantly and it assimilates into my hue system with easy. Got it for my elderly parent who struggles with Arthritis and could no longer turn a traditional lamp switch. Now he enjoys simple on and off and recently discovered mood lighting with the dimmer. A must buy if you are needing to update your living room lighting.

Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2021This was really easy to install. Only took about 2-3 minutes with the Philips Hue app. We bought this switch to use as a remote on our night stand to easily dim/brighten/power on and off our two bedroom lamps that have the Philips Hue bulbs. We have a new baby and we were constantly either controlling the lights by our phone or by verbally telling our Alexa which could wake the baby. So this was a perfect solution for us.It comes with a mounting kit to use like a normal light switch but we use it as a remote on our night stand. It comes with the battery needed to power the device. No hard wiring for this device. Great price and great product. We love it!

I have multiple Hue lights, some in ceiling cans, others in floor or table lamps. I think the system is exceptional. There are many times, however, when I either don’t want to take my phone out to turn the light on or off, or talk out loud to Siri for it to do it. There are also times when people visit and don’t know the Hue system. That’s when this switch is perfect. The switch can be placed on any wall, fits with my regular light switches, can be programmed, can be taken with you, and is easy to add to the system. I can’t do without them.
I have multiple Philips Hue bulbs and light strips but no way to control them physically. I tried Samsung's Smartthings multi-sensor buttons but they disconnect too often and drain the battery, making them unreliable. These switches are about the same price as the Samsung buttons but are a much better product. You set them up directly in the Hue app and can toggle different lighting configurations. The switch is about the same size as a normal wall switch so it looks normal on the wall. The remote can be removed to carry around and the battery is still working to this day. I haven't had any issues with these remotes disconnecting. If you use mostly Philips Hue lights, please do yourself a favor and get a Switch from them. It just works.
I used these with HomeKit at first and thought they were pretty basic, but didn't realize how they're designed to be used with the proper HUE app/hub and hue bulbs, when set up with HUE (instead of HomeKit) the top button is ON/OFF toggle, the middle buttons are brighter/dimmer for whatever state all the bulbs that are on are in, and the bottom button you can configure up to 5 scenes to cycle through with each tap. We have different rooms with varying scenes we like - e.g. the built in 'dim' and 'night light' modes are great, we augmented them with different bulbs on/off and combos of brightnesses of different bulbs. Once you set up your scenes in the HUE app, you can go into the scene and choose to share the scene with HomeKit still, so you're not out features or ... Having the scenes sent to HomeKit allows you to get the scenes in the home app on iphone/ipad/apple watch etc. and lets you ask siri to use them. Back to the remote - this one just works, and well. even if your WIFI goes down, because it works with the hue hub directly there's no issue. These are GREAT, and as of august of 2021 have been extremely constrained in supply. Get more than one if you can.
Setup is fairly straightforward (as long as you already know how the Hue app works with scenes). I have this, plus some of the older designs, in 4 different rooms, and it is convenient for 1) toggling the lights on and off, 2) dimming, and 3) cycling between different preset scenes. Another valuable benefit over just using the bulbs is that guests who don't have the app can easily figure out how to use the lights without having to use Alexa or Google Assistant, and have to guess what the room and/or zone names are. I usually don't remove the switch from the base, but it is also nice to have that option, and the magnets are strong enough that I never have to worry about the controls falling out unexpectedly. Seriously, if you use Philips hue smart lighting, these are such a no-brainer. We have Phillips lights throughout the entire house, and without these simple remotes our guests would be confused and struggling with using apps. This takes all of the guess work out of turning your lights on and off as if you had them operating from switches. Such a great and simple product, highly recommend!
OMG this switch is a LIFESAVER!Here is why I really got this device: I had a light that wouldn't reset and it was up 15 feet in the ceiling and I had heard that I could use the dimmer switch to reset a bulb manually. I googled the instructions and it worked instantly and my bulb flashed to show it was reset successfully. I also like the fact that it's magnetic so I can stick the switch to any metal surface which is slick. I'm really happy with this device. It made my life a lot easier!
These dimmers are wonderful control switches, whether for just turning on/off an inconvenient light (e.g. attic) or for leaving a light/group of lights in bright/dim/nightlight mode and being able to quickly change the brightness. I love that the switch itself is removable; I keep one by my bed at night and attached to the wall plate by the door during the day. Nice, too, in a guest room for guests that won't have access to the home app. Switch works with Hue lights, with or without a Hue bridge. Easy to set up and "program". I liked the 1st one so much, I now have 6 of them.
