A polished product that lives up to the hype

I bought this product when my old Sonicare Diamond started to get really loud and just didn't brush as well anymore. Unboxing it was a treat. The packaging, the handle, brushes and charging case all looked really good. The app worked well with the brush and I was loving it. I particularly loved the tongue brush that came with the box. After about three months, the toothbrush went from a nice quiet buzz to extremely loud and the brush function just wasn't doing it's job. I thought, oh no! Not again. So, I contacted Philips through the app and was given the phone number to contact them. The support centre for Australia were extremely good. I also trust Philips to replace the handle should anything go wrong again. Fingers crossed.

Looks good, the hum is better than the sound of Non-Philips toothbrush motors, although I’m not convinced it’s quieter. The travel case is nice and compact. The app is nice if you need that, but becomes almost pointless as you learn how to brush with this style of brush.

I have been using this for almost 2 years and quite enjoy it. However, the needle stick started to be shaky and moved around after 10 months. Contacted Philips, was sent a different handle, and 8 months after, same problem happened again. Was replace with a different handle. There is a high chance the same problem will happen again with my 3rd handle, especially my warranty is about to end. Contacted Philips and asked them what the solution will be if this happens again to my 3rd handle, got no reply from them. I would recommend the diamond clean over this one. The price is a bit better and you can tell it's better made. My husband has been using the diamond clean for almost 5 years and never have any problem with it. The best part of this toothbrush is the case and type C charger. The case is compact and beautiful and the magnetic closure is good too although I wish it were a little stronger. The toothbrush itself works great. I would recommend to someone who does NOT change brush modes. I however do change brush modes. You can't do that from the handle of the brush, you must open the app on phone to do so. When you are rushing, that is not feasible. I also thought that this was a smart brush that would change modes based on the brush head being used but to my disappointment, that is not a feature either. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. It's not slippery, just weightless... feels cheap, especially when compared to the original sonicare Diamondclean. If you are like me, you want something beautiful in your bathroom and this brush just is not as beautiful as my white and silver original sonicare diamondclean. Speaking of white and silver, what are these horrible colors this 9900 comes in??? I have the champagne color thinking it would be tolerable but I'm definitely having buyers remorse. I have gone back to using my non smart diamond clean. One last thing, the app does not guide you to brush the biting surfaces of teeth so when you run your brush over those surfaces you will take time away from other surfaces and your app will say you did not brush for 2 minutes. The touch up option on app is hit or miss as it sometimes pops up and sometimes it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and just buy the non smart original diamondclean.

Nice toothbrush but does not last
24 October 2023

I have had two model 9900’s now back to back. After about 12 months, the first one suddenly became very loud and did not seem to be working as well. When I removed the detachable head I discovered the metal center rod that extends from the base into the brush head to power the head seemed to be “loose”, moving around too easily. Clearly something had broken or dislocated inside the handle. I returned this unit and received a new one. The new one did exactly the same thing after about four months. I love the brush, when it works. It is quiet and the charge lasts a significant amount of time. Plus for longer trips it is easy to recharge using the smart travel case. Bu the delicacy of the unit is too much to put up with.

Really works better
6 November 2022

After 2 uses, I could feel the difference in my teeth. I've used Sonicare for years, and this is best by far. No impressed with the APP, but the new head design gets between the teeth and makes my teeth feel smooth and clean. This time, I actually read and followed the brushing instructions. Hold the brush at 45 degree angle. I really don't care about the sensors, and the strength of the ultrasonic vibration seems similar to my old diamond clean. The travel case is compact. My last brush failed in less than 2 years, hopefully this will last longer. Photos show app feedback and comparison to older brush design.

I recently upgraded to the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, and oh, what a game changer! The SenseIQ technology genuinely tunes into my brushing style, tweaking its performance in real-time. I was stunned at how it reached the tricky spots, making plaque removal a breeze. And despite its powerful cleaning, it’s quite gentle on my gums. I saw less redness and puffiness in just two weeks. The stain removal feature is a winner too, my teeth look noticeably brighter. Plus, the color options are a chic touch. This toothbrush is an investment in my oral hygiene I'm thrilled about

The most expensive but the worst toothbrush !!!!!

I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for years, so when it was time to replace my previous model, I decided to go for the best! I am so happy with this model. It cleans my teeth so much better than any toothbrush I have ever used. I love the technology. It alerts me if I apply too much pressure or move the brush too fast while brushing. I can use my smartphone to follow my brushing session to see if I have adequately cleaned each area. There are multiple modes I can use, such as “deep clean” or “whitening” and each mode is perfectly timed.
