Waste of money, unreliable, limited use20 days after purchase, the handle battery is dead and cannot be charged. Replacement service is awful and absolute waste of time. During my 20 days experience with this extremely expensive toothbrush my observations are as follows:– Battery lasts for a few days and must be charged.– The tracking on the app is not precise and would be in error most of the time and would show that you covered parts that you actually did not cover and the opposite. This happens even if you go with the set direction and starting position. If you do not start from that point, it would be even worse. It is not reliable.– If you brush without the app, it will not be posted later when you connect the toothbrush to the app. So forget about ... MoreWaste of money, unreliable, limited use20 days after purchase, the handle battery is dead and cannot be charged. Tips – well if you think that 3 tips that repeat all the time is usable to you, than yeah it provides you tips. I wonder what the Oral-B app looks like, as the advertised tips and stats in your review here helped a lot for my decision to go with Philips as opposed to Oral-B, and in reality the stats are very limited. You get brushing time for each part which is not even accurate, since most of the time the toothbrush does not know what part and whether back or front you are brushing and they are messed up always. You do not get the hours of the day, if you happen to brush twice in the morning, for example to cover a bit more than the 2 minutes, then even if you skip the evening, the app will show you that you brushed 2 and there is no way to see that you skipped the evening activity.– Cleaning – ok….but you get the same with a $100 toothbrush.– To change modes you need the app.– Materials – did not appear to be expensive and solid for the price, no difference to me to $100 toothbrush. The inside of the box was covered with dust – I purchased form the Philips online shop.As a conclusion – absolute waste of money. The app is of very little use, the tracking is malfunctioning all the time, stats extremely limited, battery does not last for long, quality is not reliable. I would not advise to buy this toothbrush.

I bought this product when my old Sonicare Diamond started to get really loud and just didn't brush as well anymore. Unboxing it was a treat. The packaging, the handle, brushes and charging case all looked really good. The app worked well with the brush and I was loving it. I particularly loved the tongue brush that came with the box. After about three months, the toothbrush went from a nice quiet buzz to extremely loud and the brush function just wasn't doing it's job. I thought, oh no! Not again. So, I contacted Philips through the app and was given the phone number to contact them. The support centre for Australia were extremely good. They asked me a series of questions about the toothbrush and what was happening and assessed that I needed a replacement handle ... MoreI bought this product when my old Sonicare Diamond started to get really loud and just didn't brush as well anymore. The toothbrush is awesome and does what it says it will do. My gums feel healthy, my teeth look whiter and I'm pretty happy in general with the product. I also trust Philips to replace the handle should anything go wrong again. Fingers crossed.

Looks good, the hum is better than the sound of Non-Philips toothbrush motors, although I’m not convinced it’s quieter. The travel case is nice and compact. The app is nice if you need that, but becomes almost pointless as you learn how to brush with this style of brush.

The best part of this toothbrush is the case and type C charger. The case is compact and beautiful and the magnetic closure is good too although I wish it were a little stronger. The toothbrush itself works great. I would recommend to someone who does NOT change brush modes. I however do change brush modes. You can't do that from the handle of the brush, you must open the app on phone to do so. When you are rushing, that is not feasible. I also thought that this was a smart brush that would change modes based on the brush head being used but to my disappointment, that is not a feature either. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. I would like a little more weight in the brush handle as it feels like it's going to fall out of my hands quite a bit. It's not slippery, just weightless... feels cheap, especially when compared to the original sonicare Diamondclean. If you are like me, you want something beautiful in your bathroom and this brush just is not as beautiful as my white and silver original sonicare diamondclean. Speaking of white and silver, what are these horrible colors this 9900 comes in??? I have the champagne color thinking it would be tolerable but I'm definitely having buyers remorse. I have gone back to using my non smart diamond clean. One last thing, the app does not guide you to brush the biting surfaces of teeth so when you run your brush over those surfaces you will take time away from other surfaces and your app will say you did not brush for 2 minutes. The touch up option on app is hit or miss as it sometimes pops up and sometimes it doesn't. Do yourself a favor and just buy the non smart original diamondclean.
I’m having some gum recession; I bought this toothbrush to have a more informed conversation with my dentist about my brushing habits, specifically the coverage/pressure tracking. The smart functionality of this product is absolutely useless. The toothbrush isn’t able to correctly determine position in my mouth, and the “too much pressure” alert triggers when I flip the toothbrush to brush the other side of my mouth. The presented data post-brush is wildly inaccurate. Additionally, the toothbrush requires you to brush in a specific pattern (and it STILL doesn’t detect position correctly). The A3 brush head it comes with by default will is over large and hard - leaves my gums feeling sore, which is problem for my gum recession. The smart features are useless - do ... MoreI’m having some gum recession; I bought this toothbrush to have a more informed conversation with my dentist about my brushing habits, specifically the coverage/pressure tracking. I upgraded from the base Sonicare model that you can pick up for around $40. Even that was a massive improvement over standard brushing, but this toothbrush is a worthy upgrade if you want to take your brushing to the next level. The brush head does a good job with coverage while the 3 different power levels provide suitability for different people. It will even auto adjust the power level if you are brushing too hard. The carrying case is amazing & perfect for travel. I had a harder time transporting my older brush around due to lack of a case. Its also very durable; one drop was enough to take out the cheaper model, but I’ve dropped this a few times and it still works like day 1.
After about 9 months of using this toothbrush, the metal pin shaft fell off from the base of the device during bruising, and it took more than a month to get a new replacement. But the second one only lasted a month when the turning of the metal shaft stated to give a loud screechy noise, and the customer service sent me another replacement this time quite quickly within a week; but but but, the third tooth brush only lasted two month, and the metal pin started to get loose and wobbly and producing loud noise like a screaming cat!!!! I have been using Sonicare toothbrushes for years, so when it was time to replace my previous model, I decided to go for the best! I am so happy with this model. It cleans my teeth so much better than any toothbrush I have ever used. I love the technology. It alerts me if I apply too much pressure or move the brush too fast while brushing. I can use my smartphone to follow my brushing session to see if I have adequately cleaned each area. There are multiple modes I can use, such as “deep clean” or “whitening” and each mode is perfectly timed. The smartphone app keeps track of my brushing habits and makes suggestions for the most effective cleaning experience. Great toothbrush, but the app needs help, and the "brush head life is too short for the price you pay for replacement brush heads. The toothbrush itself works amazing. My teeth feel clean and instead of brushing in quadrants, it has you brushing in sixths. I actually like this! So from a basic performance aspect, this brush is amazing!But.......the app is very inconsistent. I will be brushing the back of my teeth and the app does not seem to realize this. Then, after I finish brushing, it wants me to go back over the areas that I missed, but I already brushed them. To spend $300 on a toothbrush with an app that doesn't work is frustrating. Replacement brush heads are also very expensive, so this is a bit frustrating. I believe that I can stretch the life of the brush head to 5-6 months, but it annoyingly vibrates after every brushing to tell me that I need to replace the brush head. Nothing that disturbed the cleanliness of my teeth, but it is very annoying. So, again a great toothbrush for your oral hygiene, but if you are buying for the other advantages, buy a cheaper model.
