I gave this 5 stars because I love the pilot cartridges, but have not actually used the purple yet. I hope that it will be as nice as all the other colors I've used. In general, the cartridges fit in the pen very well and so far no leaking or anything, and all the other inks I've used flow well and dry reasonably fast. My pen is a fine nib. NEVER skips.

As others have said before me, this green is more of a blue-green than pure green. It's a little darker than I prefer, but it behaves very well. I don't do smudge tests because I don't tend to smudge my writing ever, but it seems to dry fairly quickly. I mostly got these cartridges in order to refill them, rather than buying more converters for my many Pilot fountain pens, so it doesn't really bother me that I'm not in love with the color.

This ink is one of my favorites. The color is unique and looks great for everyday use and for times I need some distinction. Many people mark this ink down because the "sepia" color is not up to their expectations of "brown", however this color is accurate with regard to natural cuttlefish (aka sepia) ink, which can take on a wide variety of tones, including this Japanese rendition in blood red/brown. In the world of red-brown inks, you'll NEVER see this one color tested, reviewed, or compared with others but it deserves to be better represented. This is a great ink that doesn't get enough recognition, primarily due to the cartridge-only availability which locks it into a proprietary Pilot-only situation. If there were a Namiki or Iroshizuku bottle available it would be popular. The closest bottled ink I've found to compare it to is Ancient Copper (a bit more brown), followed by Oxblood (a bit more red), but as long as I have a Pilot pen nearby I'll also have a pack of these Sepia cartridges when I want this color. Get some, you'll like it.

I like it for a more formal look! I use a lot of crazy, noticeably flamboyant colors in lots of fountain pens, that are not black or sepia. I like this sepia for its' more sedate, somber and serious feel and look.
Others may like it but I will not be purchasing it.Color - not red enough for me.I found significant bleed through using Platinum Preppy 02 on 20# copy paper. No problem with Goulet M nib on Rhodia or HP 32# paper. I did not see any feathering. I did not test broader nor stub nibs. I did not test water resistance but gave a medium mark since there was not a ‘not tested’ option.
The Sepia colored cartridges worked very well in my Pilot E95S/medium nib pen. The purple Pilot/Namiki cartridges…not so much./. I’m not really a fan of ink cartridges; will use a syringe to draw ink from cartridge and fill converter.
Herbin Bleu Azur is one of my favorite colors but it’s too light for everyday writing unless using a nib with a broad line. This ink is wetter and somewhat more saturated than Bleu Azul and gives a nice sky blue line that’s always readable. It has performed very well so far in Decimo fine and medium nibs.
This Red Cartridge came and I panicked! It was for my granddaughter’s birthday and to go in a pink fountain pen. Surprise!! They were marked PINK! Thanks, it was perfect!!
I wanted a color that wold add a bit of emphasis to some writing that I could easily use in my Pilot E95S and Namiki Silver Series Dragon (This is from the late 1990s when Pilot only imported under the Namiki label to the US). It's a bit redder than I expected but it sure packs a visual wallop
I've reviewed the pens I recently purchased: five stars, super quality, a smile each time I use them. As for the ink cartridges... The colors (purple and sepia) are gorgeous and vibrant, the ink is smooth and long lasting. And the prices are so reasonable--the best I've seen on the internet. (And definitely cheaper than the stores I used to visit.) Also, a shout out to Brandon B, who did an excellent job packing and shipping. (I misidentified this lovely human as Bruce in a prior review. My apologies!)
