Finally decided to get this big boy to go with my Yamaha’s monitors. I can’t believe what a difference it has made. It has litterally added another dimension to what I can hear. There is so much I was not listening to. Once you find the sweet spot that makes your ears have eargasms, you will realize the importance of having a sub woofer in the studio. Out of the box I started experimenting to find the right place for it. No not the floor, no not in the corner. It’s all about personal preference, but I ended up finding a place where I am totally satisfied with this product and glad I purchased it. Please get one!

Overall:We added this to a pair of PreSonus Eris 3.5" BT monitors we use to A/B our mixes alongside our 5" Focal's and a set of 8" JBL's. This bargain-priced sub hit all the required marks and paired up really well with the Eris 3.5",as to be expected. The nice surprise is how well it performed added to the 5" Focal monitors, via our 1-in,3-out monitor unit. We just routed the sub to the 3rd stereo out of the monitor switch for the Focal's and JBL's, plus cabled out of the sub directly to the 3.5" Eris. Once we dialed in the correct hi/lo pass configuration with the added sub,all was good. We found a sweet spot with the Focal's that allows the PreSonus sub to fill in the missing lows while sounding fluid and compatible within the mix. Nice surprise, that one. Plus the sub is smaller than a Mackie we once had (that sucker died twice, total garbage). All things considered, this is an excellent choice for our Eris 3.5",and a welcome addition to the Focal's. We'd buy another one if needed.

I purchased to complement a pair of Infinity Primus P162 bookshelf loudspeakers in my 300 sq. ft. livingroom. A test disc demonstrates the Sub8 handles the bottom octave down to about 35 Hz and is a good timbre match with the mains. Like makeup, only a low level mostly lower xover setting was needed to round out the sound, and this unit perfectly suits the objective.

Sound:High quality sound with great range!Features:The High Pass Filter, The over all controls. I would say that the only thing lacking are XLR inputs and outputs. I know that TS and TRS is easier and more common, yet XLRs would be a good feature.Ease of Use:It takes 5 minutes to set this Subwoofer up to sound amazing.Quality:For the money, it seems well made. Time will tell as I use them bot quite a bit.Value:Yes, absolutely!Manufacturer Support:I have not had to deal with PreSonus, but I have heard good things about their customer support. The Wow Factor:It has great appeal for those with limited $$ and limited space.Overall:This is truly an amazing Subwoofer. Because of their range, they can be blown, that being said, if this Sub is set up correctly, it will be reliable as the day is long. I have two of these Subs and I run them with Eris 7 XT and 5 XT. As long as I keep my mix flat and the Sub at no more than unity gain with the tops/mains set at 80Hz and above, this Subwoofer will deliver the lows and be reliable. I would have to say that at medium high to low volume settings, this compact affordable Subwoofer goes as low as it is advertised. I heard the 8 inch Mackie Subwoofer and not only does it not sound as good, it is lacking the inputs and controls that The PreSonus Sub8 has. Even if you do not have any PreSonus products, this is a great fit for those on a budget and with limited space. I have never heard my own music sound any better than through all of my PreSonus equipment. I have had louder and bigger gear in the past, yet not actually better sounding. This Subwoofer is great for home theater too. You do not have to play an instrument to get real value out of this killer little unit. Highly recommend this product.
Pros: Great value Monitor Sub for small or medium size spaces (aka Home studios). Have used it with Yamaha MSP5 monitors and it does what it should really well. I can also imagine serving well as a part of a home AV system. Cons: Does Not come with foot or front on/off switch controls. All tweakery at the back is fiddly ! Buying a mini passive controller (from 20-120) could spare you of that sweat ! Verdict: For the price tag it is very hard to find a better deal ! Only real competition in its class is Fostex PM-SUBmini 2
A lot more powerful and digs lower than you would expect from such a small sub. Granted I'm in a small room, but I can't be happier. Very clean and quick. Keep your expectations reasonable for the size and power, but great quality sound until you reach its limits. Perfect for an office or home PC setup.
Added to Presonus Eris E5, fills out the sound beyond expectations. Fine tuning of crossover between the E5 and sub8 is simple, instructions easy to read. Settings as per instructions work well, easy to overdo the bass if you add too much. A bit pricey but a huge difference compared to the E5 alone.
I replaced an old Logitech 2.1 system using the Eris 3.5's and this sub. Once I got the sub positioned properly and followed the instructions for balancing the sound it is working and sounding great. It's rather amazing that it will go so deep - 30hz, and it certainly sounds like it does. My beef with this sub is that Presonus says it's a great fit to go with the Eris 3.5/4.5 speakers, yet they don't make it so that they can actually work together using blue tooth from the speakers (I have the Eris 3.5 BT's). They also don't really work well on their own with the sub since now you can't go directly into the back of the speakers with a source and the Aux on the front of the 3.5's won't help either - no sub-out. If you buy this sub, just know that there are two things that will help you. First, the "gain" is your volume and be sure to follow the instructions on the internet to balance your speakers with the sub if you want them to sound good. Secondly, you will need a DAC. I have a DAC with two computers connected to a USB switch which then goes to the DAC. Since my JDS Labs DAC doesn't have analogue inputs, and you can't use the Aux on the speakers, I have another set of cables toing to the RCA inputs on the sub with a 3.5 mm connector to the back of a small Sescom audio switch you can see in the attached pictures so that I can use other portable devices for audio when necessary. Presonus does make a good DAC they call the Microstation BT 2.1 - but they even completely missed it here as it has no USB input! If it had USB input, it would have been a simple solution to buy it with the sub as the Microstation even has analogue inputs. Another fail.Overall, I really like the sound. However, I have kept the speakers and the sub, somewhat grudgingly, due to the poor overall functional design and additional costs I had to incur to make them work properly together.
This sub sounds amazing, definitely perfect to pair with your presonus monitors (or any) I have the Eris E5's and this sub complements them perfectly and hits hard, definitely helps having this due to my monitors not being able to hit those low bass frequencies. I also bought this as open box, it arrived new in the packaging the only thing that looked open was that the box was previously opened and the power cable but the unit was new and never used. Only negative was that it was shipped in the product box itself so no other box to protect it if it was thrown around during shipping and if I was not home when delivered, it would be sitting on my porch displaying its contents to any porch pirates, but luckily none of that happened and I got this for a great price.
I've been producing music (hip hop + RnB) for around 3 years now, and this is my first subwoofer. The low end punch adds so much sound clarity to the kicks and bass, and my mixes have improved significantly since hooking it up with my monitors. It's not as big or as heavy as I thought, so it shouldn't be a problem if you're in a smaller space like a dorm. I use this with the presomus eris 3.5 speakers, and the difference in sound quality is honestly just night and day. In a lot of my drum sound kits, I felt like I wasn't hearing the full potential of the sound in the kicks & 808s, but this problem was solved instantaneously once I hooked up this sub. Also really good for playing regular tunes while doing other things, especially if you enjoy heavy bass when ... MoreI've been producing music (hip hop + RnB) for around 3 years now, and this is my first subwoofer.
