Made from lanolin. When you breastfeed, your baby's frequent sucking can deplete the natural oils in your skin. This can lead to your nipples feeling sensitive, dry, sore and they may even start to crack. This is where Purelan 100 lanolin cream comes in by helping to replenish these oils. And of course, you don't have to wait until you're experiencing sore or cracked nipples before using nipple cream. You can apply it as a gentle moisturiser to help the skin on your breasts feel softer and more supple, before or after breastfeeding. You can even use it to soothe itchy or sensitive nipples during pregnancy. Fast relief for sore nipples and dry skin Safe for your baby no need to remove before breastfeeding Effective rich texture creates a protective layer on the skins surface and rehydrates from within 100% natural, singleingredient lanolin. No additives, preservatives and fragrance added Ultrapure medicalgrade lanolin tested to the highest safety standards, the European Pharmacopoeia and United States Pharmacopoeia standards Dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin Ethically sourced from mulesingfree farms Purelan creates a protective layer on skins surface and is absorbed deeply by the skin where it rehydrates from within restoring the skins natural moisture balance. Use Purelan at every feed to relieve soreness and protect your nipples. There is no need to remove Purelan before feeding.

The purelan is thicker than other medela creams. It is pure lanolin so that should be expected. It is a little tacky so expect to stick to your clothing but it offers a great layer of protection! Especially during teething! You don’t have to wash off before pumping or nursing. Though because lanolin is thick/tacky it isn’t the best lubricant for pumping and can actually cause more friction so use something like a coconut oil instead.

Amazing Product, Definitely Recommend!

If you're currently breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed, Medela Purelan Lanolin cream is a must try! It is by far the best lanolin nipple cream that I've ever used. I feel confident in saying this as I'm currently 3 weeks postpartum with my second who is exclusively breastfed just as my first was. I wish I had this cream when my first was born, because nursing was so painful and it took me a long time to find a cream that provided any sort of relief. Purelan Lanolin is incredibly easy to apply and provides a great barrier as your nipples are recovering between feeds in those early days. Additionally, Medela suggest that Purelan can be applied to other dry areas of your body which is 100% true. I recently applied this product to my cracked, dry hands overnight and it provided instant relief. This product is a little greasy, so I wouldn't suggest applying it to your hands during the day, but it worked wonders overnight and I won't hesitate to use it for my hands in the future. I received the product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel, but I would 100% recommend every new mom give this product a try!

Bitter Nips
20 January 2022

I bought this and put it in my diaper bag to bring with me for labor and delivery. Being a first time mom, I assumed I would have issues with my nipples hurting from nursing since I have never breastfed before. I've read the other reviews and glad this worked for others but my baby said ABSOLUTELY NOT! Without this product my baby latched on perfectly. Unfortunately, my nipples were so cracked and sore I had to try this out. After I applied it, baby refused my nipples and began crying and screaming. The nurse asked what changed, I let her know I used this product due to my nipple conditions and she said throw it out. Apparently this tastes bitter to babies and they will refuse the nipple and not eat. Overall, I was very pleased with Medela’s Purelan Lanolin Cream. I brought it with me to the hospital and it was honestly the one product I used the most while there! After nursing non-stop for the first 48 hours after the birth of my daughter, this cream helped soothe my sore, cracked nipples in between nursing sessions. Some creams you need to remove before nursing, but thankfully that’s not the case with Medela’s Purelan which made it so much more convenient. I had a cesarean section, so moving after delivery was not easy. I needed something that I could put on and not have to get up to go to the bathroom and wash off before a nursing session! I had a cesarean section, so moving after delivery was not easy. I needed something that I could put on and not have to get up to go to the bathroom and wash off before a nursing session! I will say that the cream is pretty thick, which wasn’t always the easiest to rub in when your nipples are super sore and sensitive to touch, but it’s also the creams thickness that really helped to soothe and repair the cracking so that’s kind of a double-edged sword. In addition to using it on my nipples, I also used it as a lip balm (you’re lips get SO dry due to the hospital air!) and it worked fantastic as a lip balm - Honestly better than the actual lip balm I had also brought in my hospital bag! It made my lips soft and hydrated for hours whereas my ā€˜usual’ lip balm lasted an hour if I was lucky. My daughter also frequently had to get her heel pricked every few hours while we were in the hospital (this was in order to check her blood sugar as I had developed gestational diabetes during pregnancy) and her poor tiny little feet were so dry and cracked from the alcohol swabs they were constantly using on her before pricking her, so I also used this on her heels which helped the dryness and cracking and it worked so well for her I decided to use it on my own heels as well! Overall, I was very happy that I got so much use out of this and so glad that I thought to pack it in my hospital bag! I would highly recommend any expecting mama also bring it with them to the hospital! A special thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for letting me try this lanolin cream free of charge in exchange for my honest review!

Love this cream!

I had my baby three weeks ago and, like most new Moms, struggled with latching at the beginning of my breastfeeding journey. I had been told by friends that lanolin cream can help to soothe nipple discomfort so I decided to give the lanolin cream I had received from the Stellar Product Testing Panel a try. When I started using the cream, I was first struck by the consistency. It's on the thick side and slightly greasy. I found it helped to apply if I warmed a dab up between my fingertips for a couple of seconds. After figuring this little trick out, it spread very easily and evenly. After only the first few uses I found that my skin was not as irritated, the lanolin seeming to create a buffer between my skin and prolonged moisture I was exposed to during feedings. I also felt that the nipple sensitivity was lessened and I could concentrate on getting a better latch without worrying about being in pain - good for me and good for baby. I love that the ingredients are 100% natural and that I don't have to worry about what I am exposing baby to when nursing. I even use a little of the cream on baby's milk blisters when he gets them and it seems to help them heal faster. Overall, I would recommend Purelan Lanolin Cream to any breastfeeding or bottle-feeding Mother!

Not just for nipples! A postpartum mama must-have!

I've been breastfeeding for almost 4 years now and after trying Purelan, I wish I had this product from the beginning! I recently had my second baby 6 months ago and have been using Purelan for the last couple weeks. It effectively tackles any dryness, peeling or cracking and provides soothing relief of sore nipples. I also found it helped to protect my nipples from further discomfort or dryness from the next feeding. It is super easy to apply and a little goes such a long way. It has a pleasant feel to it, not sticky, wet or greasy. I love that it is made from all-natural ingredients and doesn't have to be removed before feeding, no new mama has time for that! One of the best things about Purelan is that I have used it with great success on other areas of the body as well. Each year during our Canadian winters I have suffered from horribly dry, cracked and peeling lips. After using Purelan a few times, my lips were rehydrated and the dryness, cracks and peeling resolved. I couldn't believe it! No other product has been able to achieve this (and I've tried them all)! I started using it on other trouble spots as well, such as cracked heels, dry elbows and hands (thanks sanitizer!) and saw similar benefits. I've also used it on my kids for any dryness or areas that needed some extra protection. I love that it comes in two sizes, one for home and a smaller one that's perfect to take along with you in your diaper bag. All in all, Purelan is a multipurpose, super effective must-have for the postpartum mama! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with Purelan to use and review!

I was given this lanolin cream to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. When I started using this cream, I was nursing then weaning my toddler (with sore cracked nipples), pregnant with my fourth child, and trying to soothe my little ones diaper rash.I’ll start with what wasn’t my favourite about it. I found, like is common with many nipple creams, that it was a bit tough to apply. I mean you use it the same way as any typical cream, but because of the texture, it pulls a bit at the skin as you try and smooth it out. This can be painful depending on the skins condition. I love that its fragrance free and doesn’t have a taste. I put some on my own finger and tested it out and couldn’t taste anything at all. It comes out of the tube very thick but quickly thins out with the warmth of your hands and is easy to apply. I like that it doesn’t fully melt, so it doesn’t make a mess on clothing. I really love that there aren’t any funky ingredients, especially when I’m exposing my newborn’s delicate self to it.For me, the only downside was that it isn’t easy to use once its cold. I like a cold product when I’m in pain and when I put this in the refrigerator, it firmed up so much that I couldn’t get it out of the tube and once I did, it was no longer cold. However, that is a personal preference and all the other benefits outweigh that one down side for me.Overall I am very satisfied and will be purchasing more of this in the future!

I received this product for free in order to review from Stellar Product Testing Panel. I currently have a two month old that I am breastfeeding and initially, I had a hard time feeding her due to cracked and painful nipples so I was having to use lanolin cream quite often. I will say that this product is much thicker and stickier than other brands as it isn’t mixed with anything else and is 100% lanolin. On one hand, I appreciate that there’s no added ingredients but on the other hand, this stuff is very difficult to spread and leaves a very sticky film/residue on your hands and other areas where applied. On one hand, I appreciate that there’s no added ingredients but on the other hand, this stuff is very difficult to spread and leaves a very sticky film/residue on your hands and other areas where applied. My nipples have not been having a lot of issues lately, but because it’s winter and the middle of a pandemic where I’m washing my hands constantly, my skin is still very dry and my hands have become cracked and painful. I use this product often on my hands and it works better than petroleum jelly, lotions, or other skin protectants. Even though it is very sticky, my fingers feel very protected and soothed as soon as I apply it. I do wish it was a bit easier to work with but overall, I am satisfied with how well it works. After a couple of days of frequent application, my skin shows definite improvement. Also, I will say that the bottle is very small and I was surprised with how long it was expected to last, but a small amount honestly goes a long way and I still have a lot left even with frequent applications.
