My Pyrex measuring cup is well loved and gets used probably multiple times per day. It is handy and durable and it never breaks! They last forever due to the great quality of the product. I’ve had mine for over 15 years and the markings have not peeled, faded, or discolored and are still easy to see to this very day! It’s easy to clean and store. It is dishwasher and microwave safe. The measurement markings are always accurate as well, I never have any trouble measuring liquid ingredients for recipes.

Cooking is my passion and I am very happy with this measuring cup. Now I have accuracy in my baking. I like the design of the handle that makes for easy handling, and the wide opening and shallower depth for easier use. I microwave vegetables for a few minutes, and when I grab onto the handle, it's only sightly warm - if that - to the touch, so taking it out and working with it is secure and well under control. 1 cup measuring cup is super easy to clean. Even if the kids used it and forgot to rinse it out. A little hot water does the trick. The durability to heat up cooking or baking items in the microwave, you can put butter in it and melt that in the microwave to be sure you have the right measurements. Accuracy is spot on as long as you're on an even surface. Versatility because you can also use a handheld mixer or mix and use it as a bowl. You can also use it to pour gravy. The red markings haven't faded on this one yet, but, a little on one that I had for many years.

Massively incorrect measurements

I purchased my new Pyrex 4 cup liquid measuring cup from Walmart, as my old one, (which lasted forever) was showing heavy signs of wear, making the measurements very difficult to read. Not impossible, but straining for the eyes. I put my new PYREX glass measuring cup to work the next day and made a batch of dough for 6 loaves of bread. The dough was the worst I had EVER made. I was left scratching my head, wondering what I did wrong. After a bit of thought, I realized there was only one thing I had done differently- used my new measuring cup. I still had my old one so I brought it out. I filled my new one to 1 1/3 cup. Then I very carefully transferred the water to the old Pyrex measuring cup- and there it was! This is definitely one thing I purchase, fully trusting that because of the name, that I could trust it and that it could last for as many years as my old one. The new one was a bust from the start. So bakers beware. I was fooled- please don’t think you suddenly can’t bake.

Pyrex reliability only goes so far.

What can one really say about a measuring jug?Well have been using Pyrex products since Adam played in the back pocket. You can use them for pretty well any need at any temperature. With one exception, and hence why no '5 star rating' and that's with the dishwasher.Pyrex has not come up with a way that the red measurement markings are dishwasher proof. Currently they aren't and over a relatively short time the markings will become illegible - which pretty well renders it useless as a measuring jug!The weighty and non-reactive nature of a glass jug is a positive with this product as well as its wide temperature ability that makes it attractive to many.To keep it fully functional as such, keep it out of the dishwasher.

measuring numbers disappear with use

I have a one cup measure that is from the 1940s or 1950s that was my grandmothers. Although it shows the wear from being well used for so many decades, I need a 2 cup and 4 cup measure. Bought them a year or two ago. Nearly always wash them by hand, but about half the painted numbers have come off. It has never been a problem with the old 1 cup measure. Measuring cups without numbers are just a paper weight. I would replace them but don't know how to prevent this problem in the future. Really disappointing. Would give this a zero rating if it was an option.

worthless glass

I purchased a 2c measure from a local hardware store. in 3 mos time the writing was wore off and it was chipped. Pyrex replaced it. In 6 mos time from the replacement, it shattered taking it out of the dishwasher. The handle looked like broken ice and the cup dropped off into the dishwasher creating a mess of shards of glass everywhere. Do not buy this product. The glass is not nearly as strong as the older version which I have had for decades. They would replace it but not refund my money. Needless to say, I don't want another!
