QSC CP12 12" 2-Way Powered (1000W) Portable Pa Speaker

I recommend these speakers without a doubt! Had them for about a month and I cannot be happier! I have been a DJ for 8 years and I finally decided to take the plunge and make a small investment in higher end speakers for a PA system for live/private events. I have had the chance to listen and play with QSC speakers at various events as of recently and I realized how high quality they are and why they are industry standard. Riding off of that, a colleague implored me to not waste money on anything but QSC and suggested this new CP line which is more on the "budget" side from QSC but they just sound absolutely splendid. They are so clear and defined on the highs, and for not having a separate subwoofer, they speakers crank a lovely sounding bass in my opinion, a gorgeous full sounding thump with enough clarity. Music sounds great and so do vocals through a pretty cheap microphone, the speakers make everything sound on point! Even if you wanna simply slap an aux cord and hook up a phone or computer it pumped some massive sound! I personally for my use decided to double up and got two of the CP 12's and feed them through a 10 channel Yamaha mixer and they sound divine. I've done a couple event thus far and people just gravitated towards the sound. Thank you AMS and QSC for making this all possible!

They are compact and easily fit in the backseat or trunk of a car, they are lightweight so they don't require two people to get one of them up on a speaker stand. For small rooms one CP12 has plenty of power for front of house PA or for larger rooms two will do just fine. Quality of sound is where these powered speakers prove their value! Clarity and surprising low end punch with plenty of clean headroom. The preset eq options are fine and don't require much thought, set it and forget it. After trying a number of other similar speakers, I settled on the QSC CP-12s. They'll spend most of the time in my studio/jam space. But they could go out for the occasional gig. Compact, lightweight and powerful with the excellent quality, clarity, and punch of QSC. While the 2000-watt K series speakers are a bit overwhelming for my uses, the 1000-watt CP fits in perfectly. Strong bass response largely eliminates the need for a Sub.Best of all was the value of the AMS bundle. Saved me a couple hundred dollars on stands, cables and carry bags. Not to mention that most vendors were out of stock on these.

The sound is incredible for such a compact unit and the weight is probably 1/3 lighter than anything in its class. Combine that with two separate volume controls for the inputs, a built in db boost, multiple settings including one for monitors, then there’s nothing these speakers can’t do.I’ve used them for acoustic shows, DJ gigs, monitors for live performance and speaking events. The selective settings really do influence low end, clarity and presence. The longest I’ve run these continuously at loud(event) volumes was over 6 hours. They also have a nice profile for monitor throw angle and the small input jack for direct feed from a media source is extremely convenient.Given what these speakers are capable of at this price point, I personally can’t justify making any other speaker your “workhorse, go to” choice. I’ve owned JBL, Mackie, EV, Behringer and others over the years and can say without any doubt that these are the best sounding and performing 12” powered speakers at $500 and under I’ve ever used. I even sold some 15” powered speakers by another brand because they couldn’t keep up with these regarding sound, weight and versatility.If you need a synthetic enclosed powered speaker that can literally cover every application without breaking the bank, while coming as close as possible to options almost twice the price, this is the unit for you. Personally, I won’t buy another non wood enclosure except these until QSC comes out with something than can knock this off of its throne.

Better than speakers that cost 50% more

Overall:I purchased these about 2 years ago from zZounds on the Play as You Pay plan. One thing that can't be denied is QSC's quality. I now own 6 of these speakers, and I can run my entire 4pc band minimum 3 nights per week, with very heavy vocals, drums, bass, acoustic and an electric using a Soundcraft Ui24R mixer, 2 for mains, and the other 4 as monitors, and one is used as a drum monitor and they don't even breathe hard. When I run them with a pair of 18" powered subs, they scream using the "Ext sub" setting, which enables a low pass filter. I am about to order a pair of KS112 subs to pair with these. They have increased in price since I purchased them but they are still worth every penny. Cp 12 monitors

Purchased 5 cp12s to replace a bunch of alto monitors, set them to the monitor setting, plunked em down and beside turning up the gain a little, they work perfectly with my Qsc touchmix. I set board presets to the K.2 monitor setting and it seems to be perfect. I have also used a pair for an acoustic weekly show. My K12s I think sound deeper but I'd rather use the cps as they easier to drag around. It was a good buy, I recommend!

Doesn't Dissapoint

It's QSC what can I say! I run a mobile DJ business and purchased these primarily to use for ceremonies. The sound is crisp and clear with our Shure wireless microphones. There is a small button on the back that activates the mic and it just amplifies the vocals. The 1/8" port is such a convenience item and works perfectly with its own gain control.The only issue is the tote bag. Yes, it's a 12" speaker tote bag, and it's a nice Gator Bag, but NOT A CP12 Tote Bag, As you probably know the CP series is a much smaller speaker. The speaker is just fumbling around in the bag. Not to mention it does not have an easy open lid lig the QSC bags do.Buy the speaker and do yourself a favor and buy an Official QSC CP 12 Tote Bag.5 starts on the Speaker

Fantastic for the weight and price!

My pair of (original) QSC K12's have have performed flawlessly for my solo sax with backing tracks act for years. However, I'm now on the wrong side of 50, and hoisting them up on poles and schlepping them in out of my trunk has been murder on my lower back. I hit the advil hard the next day! I was always hoping that QSC would put technological advances over the past few years into a revised K12 with *lighter weight* for the same power (instead of more power for the same weight in the K12.2). Listening to the CP12, it sounded really rich like I was used to with my K12s, and was not trebly or tinny like Mackie or EV. I could certainly crank it to as loud as I'd ever use at one of my gigs (e.g. wedding cocktail hour, private residence party, nursing home). When I played on my K12, I could nevertheless tell that the K12 sound was a tad richer.The bottom line is that to me, the CP12 gives me 100% of the volume I'd ever need, ~90% of the K12 sound quality at 71% of the K12 weight, at only 62% of the K12 price. Their smaller size frees up extra room to keep my speaker stands, mic/cable bag, and my axes (my entire act) all concealed in the trunk of my Corolla as well, instead of some gear visible to thieves in the back seat.If money and weight are no object, then invest in a pair of K12s. They WILL sound a smidge better and will give you more power. However, for what I and other mellower acts need, and for those on a budget, the CP12 is fantastic for the price and the weight, and why I give them five stars. I'll keep my K12s for those gigs (e.g. outdoor) where I absolutely need the added power.

No Cons: All Settings: No Distortion

I used these by themselves a local club and I ran Bass, Drums, Electric and Acoustic Guitars as well as vocals and I didn't need to go past the 12:00 positions at any time. I did a check at home before the gig and ran a drum machine as well as various pedal and sound sources and then I incrementally increased the volume and it never buckled or distorted. The last test was my Yamaha P-515, that was the clincher. It has never sounded like this. To finally hear this Piano with no distortion is blissful. I purchesed these last year on the last day of an amazing promotion. It took 14 months to finally get them and it was well worth the wait. I have nothing but praise for these powered speakers. Stands are Joke

The speakers are great. CP12s sound very good, especially for the price. We only do speech and music, no live bands. With speech and mastered/compressed audio, these sound great. No idea how they would sound with a band.The XLRs are fine. The Stands included are a joke. They're little, short stands, which I didn't noticed when I purchased. I didn't think people made stands this short. The name of the stand should be Short Stand.
