Just needed a clean pre-amp to record my LP's onto my computer. Paired with Bias Soundsaver, this really does the job. Of course, that is what I expected from these guys! Own multiple products of theirs, and I have not been disappointed yet.

I bought this preamp to connect to my hifi gear. No hum or annoying noise and very natural sound reproduction. Fully satisfied.
Just needed a clean pre-amp to record my LP's onto my computer. Paired with Bias Soundsaver, this really does the job. Of course, that is what I expected from these guys! Own multiple products of theirs, and I have not been disappointed yet.
I have purchased several turntable pre-amps and they lasted a short while. This one is substantial and audio reference. I expect it to last a long, long time. Excellent sound reproduction.
After many hours of reading reviews of Turntable preamps I decided on the J33 for several reasons. 1) Radial has an outstanding reputation with live sound and recording engineers. 2) One of the only units with XLR (Balanced) outputs. I'm using this with a Linn Sondek LP12 Turntable. Connected the L/R RCA outputs of the J33 into a Harmon Kardon amplifier for listening through Klipsch Forte speakers. The L/R XLR outputs into Presonus AI24 Mixer. The Presonus is connected to a Mac running Pro Tools. Main purpose of this is to allow conversion of vinyl (not available commercially in digital format) to digital format with Pro Tools in my recording studio. The meters in Pro Tools show almost -inf noise floor with the J33. That is very impressive. This unit has turned out to be really really great! I was previously using a fairly high-end hi-fi preamp from Rotel, and since it's output was -10 line level, I was less than thrilled with the sound when I bumped it up to line for transferring records to the computer for re-mastering. Using the J33 has improved my overall sound quality in all the transfers. It's not overly hyped in any way, and it's got a nice frequency response. The different hookups would probably make it really handy for people in different scenarios, but I'm just going XLR mic level into my console and then into my computer. All in all, a fantastic unit. Definitely worth the money!
I did some research and took a chance on this unit - flat out this is one of the best audio gear purchases I have made. I sample vinyl into Akai MPCs and it seemed every mixer or external preamp would produce some kind of noise or hum. Power conditioners and eliminating ground loops did not solve the issue,... until I received this unit. All the outputs this thing has makes it super useful and the sound is mega-clean. No more hum! This thing has some research put into it. I will definitely be purchasing some other Radial gear. This thing is a brick and you could knock someone out with it!
This thing rocks. I used my mixer to amplify my turntable but lost a lot of Pow! and Boom! but this solves everything. More power deeper low pass and mondo sound!
I had another phono preamp but had some noise in my tweeters so I was looking at other alternatives and ran across the Radial J33. Sam Ash has very fast shipping so I ordered and got it in 1 or 2 days. I put the Radial on my turntable and system, and there was no noise out of tweeter. Also, I am happy with the highs, mids, and low frequencies from this phono preamp. It is very natural, and neutral. The build quality is excellent, it is like a brick! Obviously, there are much more expensive phono preamps out there, but for my needs, this is a very good product for the price.
I use this with a SONOS connect so that I can stream my records across my SONOS speakers in my house, or directly connect it to my speakers and have a pure analog signal. No hum, even after the switchbox and independent volume control to accomplish this task. I have an ART preamp that does the same thing, but with only one output, and it was much noisier than this unit. Save it for one of those 15% off sales, if you're not in a rush.
