After months of searching for a RPi due to the ongoing shortage, I was finally able to purchase one in June. Unfortunately, I bought it from Adafruit. My 8 year old son used it to lightly browse the web and play online video games. It froze up a couple of times before it stopped working completely. It blinked eight times rapidly which indicates faulty memory. I tried to install a new bootloader but that wasn't the problem. So the computer is dead after 2 months and Adafruit won't take it back because they only accept 30 day returns. The Raspberry Pi website indicates their products have 1 year warranties but because I bought it from Adafruit that warranty is null and void. Thanks for nothing Adafruit.

The Pi4B is one of the best computing devices out there, despite having a Mac Studio, MacBook Air M2, iPad Pro 12" M1 and Beelink GTR5 PC, I also find myself using my little Pi4, (Connected to a 500GB Samsung Evo970 SSD), 34" Huwaei Ultrawide, Logitech MX3 Master and Keychron K2. And it's a great, fun little computer that punches well above its weight. (It's even running Pi-Hole and Unbound). And best of all, if I pop in a microSD card it serves double duty as a retro arcade machine, (I also run a second Pihole in a container on my NAS, so no pesky ads.All I can say is the Pi is the fun little computer that punches well above its weight and is strangely addictive. I'm guessing if you're reading this, you're considering getting one, well all I can say is don't hesitate.

I wanted a PI4 to connect to a 5 bay USB3 drive caddy. The PI brings up /boot from an SD card, and root from an SSD in the caddy. It's running Ubuntu Server 22.04 btw. The other 3 HDD's spin up, and are formatted to ZFS, with another 8TB running as a hot swap spare, and the log and cache on the SDD. It's also running as my PLEX server where we keep family videos and music rips of a bunch of old CD's.Pimoroni were my first stop, as they have delivered excellent customer service before, and again, 2 days after ordering this new PI4 (to replace a Ryzen PC doing the same job, but in a lot higher power envelope) it was on my doorstep, perfectly packed and ready to run once I hooked it all up. No real problems with the Pi itself or the set of accessories but the case is not the greatest you can get. The Pi is a tight fit and has to be pushed into place with a loud click - whatever happened to screws? This could simplify the mad scramble for larger memory sized Pi boards - not an issue for me as most of this Pis life will be command line without a GUI.

I feel really happy just playing and trying new things - yes that's partly state of mind on my part, but it is so darn cute I feel much freer to experiment and thus learn! It's no toy, but it elicits that playful childlike wonder and excitement that is the root of how we all learned new skills growing up - if the Lego falls down it's not that you're some failure, no you get back building it again and try not to knock it/ make broader base: that's how this awesome starter pack makes me feel. Ideally I'd have chosen 4GB but only 2GB was available- but it's seldom been limited yet in what I've tried.PiHut were super speedy in sending, and I was kept informed with emails at every step of delivery, even a 1.5hr window of when postie would be along with it!Thank you for making this available under trying circumstances, these boards and especially this starter pack should be in the hands of lots of ppl, opening up a wonderful world of tinkering possibilities!
The HDMI cable is good quality, as is the power supply. The Pi itself is super powerful, and exactly as expected. However .. the case is a liability - no ventilation to speak of, and the CPU on the Pi quickly exceeded 82C in normal operation. I have since upgraded to a Flirc case, which is massively better at keeping temperatures down, even though at the cost of preventing access to the internal connectors.Sadly, the SD card was missing from my shipment - I had the small plastic envelope that it should have been in, but alas, no card anywhere in the packaging (I checked very thoroughly). If you're new and starting, I recommend buying a kit just to save having to navigate the dizzying array of all the bits you do (or don't) need to have a working Raspberry Pi without missing anything out.I just happened to also buy the (excellent) Argon ONE case instead of the supplied OneNine Design white plastic case. The supplied case looks fine, to be honest, though the clip-on lid comes off again pretty easily as other reviews have noted. I didn't need the micro-HDMI to full-size HDMI cable either (due to the Argon case) but it'll get used when I inevitably end up buying another Raspberry Pi to go in the empty case...The Raspberry Pi itself is great (but you knew that), the power supply is nicely made and the pre-installed micro-SD card works just ... MoreGreat kit!
