Nice and Fast, this is a great improvement over previous models of the Pi, but it gets hot. I got the official Pi 5 case and that does a good job at keeping it cool, however I might get the Active Cooler for applications where I need the IO more accessible for shields. This runs Raspbian super fast, and I am really happy I got the 8G RAM version, as my Pi4 was 2G RAM and that was crippled in many ways because of it. Happy with my purchase.

Faster than the Pi 4 and have been using it as my primary computer for 3 days. Very pleased. Definitely runs hotter than previous models so make sure you get the case or active cooling. Thanks PBTech

Overall I’m disappointed I was kinda hopeful at first micro center said no preorders first come first serve they seemed to be playing fairly trying to keep us updated on dates they would be available but now they act like they are all sold out even though they never officially had a launch date at microcenter which is what most consumers assumed with the posting microcenter had made earlier last month why not be like every other approved reseller and not hyped us for a certain date. It irritates people because they seem like lost pi’s at this point and all the company can say is “we don’t know where they are” all I can say is at least the number of pi’s weren’t allocated evenly between stores. Which is a mistake it’s a niche product it’s not like they could ... Which is a mistake it’s a niche product it’s not like they could determine a sbc would sell better in one place or another. Just another reason I’m glad I put in a preorder with another company instead of out right trusting microcenter.
Massive step up from pi 4 which is still great. I was so excited that I forgot to grab the new power supply. This thing is so powerful for an sbc that I decided to enjoy it as a kde plasma desktop for my first week.
Exceeding expectations thus far, would def recommend. Running as a VPN server with a few docker containers as an upgrade from a Pi 4. I'm loving the experience and have moved to using this as my main PC for daily needs.
Excellent!
Purchased a pi5. Significantly faster than the older pi's. Is able to run modern desktops with bells and whistles enabled. Plays videos up to 4k without any slowdowns. Does not come with a power supply. You MUST use a raspberry pi 5 power supply only. No other USB-C supply has the 5V5A mode required to run the pi5 with everything enabled. If you run it on lower power modes it turns off GPIO and other features and throttles CPU. No other supplies available for USB-C has the required 5V5A mode, not even the most powerful ones. It has the form factor of a pi3 but the HMDI and USB power ports of a pi4. Old pi hats work on it.
