We tried out the new party game, Thatās Not a Hat. And let me just say, this one was a huge surprise how fun it was. I donāt remember the last time Iāve laughed that hard with a party game. The gameplay sounds so easy, almost childās play. Each player gets a gift which players have to keep track of during the game using their memory. The first player takes the top card of the deck showing everyone what it is and then flips it face down and passes it to the player to their left or right, depending on the direction of the arrow on the back of the card. They say what the gift is and that player can accept it or reject it, saying it isnāt what they claimed it was. Whoever was wrong takes the card as a negative point. If you accept the gift, then you must pass your other ...Ā MoreWe tried out the new party game, Thatās Not a Hat. And let me just say, this one was a huge surprise how fun it was. If you accept the gift, then you must pass your other gift, turning it face down if it isnāt already and say what it is. This continues going around until someone gets it wrong and a new gift is added from the deck. It may seem like a simple memory game, but as you watch your fellow players pass cards and struggle to remember what they were, you eventually forget what your card is when you get passed one and try to determine if theyāre bluffing or not. So many moments of people thinking they know what gifts there are and then realizing you had no clue what gifts were actually where! The game says you can make it harder and give everyone two presents, but we struggled with just one that there never was a need to up the ante. Highly recommend this cheap little game at your next game night!

I Received this game from Ravensburger in exchange for my honest review. This is a fun, quick memory game that will appeal to a lot of different age groups, and is a good game for a group of up to 8 players. The rules are pretty simple and it doesn't take long for the game to become a memory challenge. Everyone starts with a card face up and the "gift shop" of cards is placed face up in the center. Player A takes a card/gift from the center, shows it to everyone, and then turns the card over and places it above his original card. On the back of a card is an arrow. Player A will gift this card to the person the arrow is pointing towards, saying: I would like to give you this xyz gift. If Player B believes that the card they got was the xyz gift, they accept it, and place that card above their card. Now Player B will turn over his card and gift it to the person the arrow is pointing to, once again saying: "I'd like to give you this abc gift. If Player B doesn't believe it is the xyz gift, they will say, "that is not an xyz". If Player A was bluffing, they move the card aside near them, if they were not, then Player B does that and that will draw a card and show it to everyone. It doesn't take long before all the cards are face down, and it becomes quite the challenge to keep track of who has which card, including your own. Soon everyone is laughing at how impossible it is to keep track of the cards. The game/round ends when one person has collect 3 wrong guess cards. The winner is the one or ones who has the fewest wrong guesses. You could really say this games ends when someone loses, more than someone wins. Since it's a quick game, it's easy to play a few rounds, and then it really gets challenging, since you might be remembering gifts from previous games. Also, you are supposed to be consistent in calling the gift the same thing the original player said it was, example: Bicycle vs. bike. We didn't play it that way, but that would add to the challenge for sure. We liked this game a lot.

We had so much fun playing this card game. At the start, we thought that it was going to be really easy but quickly learned that we were so wrong. As cards move left and right, it is a real challenge to your memory and leads to lots of laughter as the players try to pass their gifts off as other things, sometimes claiming the same item multiple turns in a row. Then, when someone challenges them, the realization of whether they were right or wrong often lead to more laughter. The more people you play with the harder it is to keep track and the more laughter that ensues. We received our game from Tryazon sponsored by Ravensburger to enjoy for our game night.

We were sent a copy of That's not a Hat to try out from Ravensburger for a Game Night with friends. That's not a Hat is a card game where you try to convince the other players that the card (gift) you are passing is what you say it is. One big positive of this game is that it's simple to understand and easy to set up. We had a group of 8 friends playing the game and it was a blast. Especially since at a certain part of the game, you forget what each card is (so deception isn't required), which makes for some great moments. A negative I can see with this game is, with a smaller group it would be very difficult to be deceptive since there are less cards to memorize. Overall: Game is easy to learn, fun to play, and games are quick. The instructions are fairly lengthy and a little confusing, but when you actually ply the game it seems easier. We only had 3 people playing, and I think the game would likely be more fun with additional people so youād have to remember more cards. Iām not very good at bluffing so this isnāt my favorite game, I definitely donāt have a poker face. Itās a game that middle aged or younger kids could play since thereās no reading involved, but younger kids may have a hard time understanding the purpose/rules. This definitely challenges your memory!!
Over the weekend i had a Ravensburgerna- Wear Your Party Hat Game Night with a few friends & family members. This was a featured party opportunity provided by Tryazon & Ravensburger who gifted me these games to test & review. We played this game and had a LOT of fun. Ravensburgers games arenāt your typical classic BOARD games. That make people BORED and lose interest. On the contrary, thatās not a hat reminds me of a wholesome version of the card game āBSā. Itās a family safe version lol š i was able to raffle off a mini version of the game as well. (Thanks Ravensburger!) These Ravensburger games are very interactive providing hours of fun for all of us. Iām very fortunate & grateful to have had this opportunity. Now that Iāve tried these games, I know i can count on tons of fun with these when my family gets together. I am honored to be selected and though i wasnāt able to provide a group photo, i do hope to be selected again. I will definitely be gifting these this holiday season, and we will get much use out of them during extra hot days during the summer when we have to stay inside.
At first the game was a little confusing so we just started playing. You need a good memory to play this game. There were 8 of us playing and I think it makes it a tougher game! We laughed the entire time! I think if you are going to play with younger kids it's better to have fewer players. With adults, it's a lot of fun with a handful of people! Definitely recommend for an easy game you can play at any table. Not a big box to have to bring. This is an easy game you can throw in your purse!
The game play is a bit confusing at first on which cards are up, which ones are down & passing. The basic idea is one person tells another player what item they have on their card. The player has to guess wither or not they are telling the truth. Game is scored based on wither or not the person guesses right. I got a bit bored with gameplay. Not everyone gets an equal chance of play. The cards have left or right arrows on the back & play passes in the direction of the back of the card. A few times the game play went back & forth between two players ( due to the arrows) & the rest of the players( myself included) just had to sit & watch.
We played this game with five people, and we all ended up really enjoying it! During the first round, it was a little awkward for a moment as we all felt that it was too easy. We actually looked up the rules to make sure that we were playing correctly and considered adding a variant to make it more challenging. However, all of our starting cards moved in the same direction, and once there was one mistake, we added a new card that happened to move in the opposite direction. This definitely kicked up the difficulty and made it harder to keep track of where everything was! It's a great blend of memory and (when your memory fails to deliver) bluffing. It's quick to learn, quick to play, and a lot of fun! Our group really enjoyed it, and it's nice to have a quick party ...Ā MoreWe played this game with five people, and we all ended up really enjoying it! This game was so confusing at first. i read the directions but it didn't make sense. it gets easier as you play a round and talk out the directions. once you get a hang of it, it seems easy because you start off seeing everyone's cards. as they all get flipped over, you may forget the cards you have or what was gifted to you. people who have bad memory make this game funny. it's a simple game for 8 years and older and only take about 15 minutes. my friends and I had a fun time figuring it out.
