The shape is the regular viper shape, a rather low back hump, long and ambidextrous. I am personally not too fond of it but I'm sure that others will be. The coating is very average, not especially easy to grip but not slippery. I would describe the coating as a plastic akin to a PBT keycap. The paracord on the mouse leaves a lot to be desired in an era of wireless mice and flexible paracords when the mouse is wired. The paracord is rather stiff and has the shoelace type of feeling to it, usable but not leading in any meaningful way. Scroll wheel is nice, no problems there. Keep in mind that there is side buttons on both the left and right sides of the mouse so steer clear if that is something you want to avoid. Now as for the real reason most people will gravitate ... If you are not already a fan of the Viper shape, look elsewhere and if you are you may enjoy this mouse as it is a pioneer among its peers. Will 8KHz become the future? We will see if wired mice are able to compete in a wireless mark and whether or not the wire justifies the extra poling rate.

The mouse has the classic and super nice shape of the classic razer viper with the round hump, decent clicks and the rubber sides, like the other mice of the viper category (except the mini) they are ambidextrous, meaning however you hold the mouse, it's the same shape and layout, even side buttons on each side! the comfort curves are absolutely just so nice to put your fingers on. Now for the fun part, the sensor and software, the sensor is of course, super great because razer is quite super good in that category and the name of the mouse describes what they are going for and this means the polling rate of the mouse. Of course, 8000hz is quite rare and new so DON'T EXPECT FOR IT TO WORK EVERYWHERE, it doesn't work well on Roblox, Osu! and many other games but they are probably gonna fix this in later versions. The software is obviously Synapse 3 and of course the program might be a little confusing but it should be easy to understand by the layout, when you get on the mouse, there are 3 categories, customise is to customise and change the buttons and what they do, performance is where you can change your DPI and polling rate that goes from 125 to 8000hz, lighting to control the RGB that is located in the mouse and calibration to calibrate a certain surface for maximum performance.Now for the common problems and fixesGame lags: lower your polling rate until fixed or your system isn't powerful enoughMouse feels weird in game: lower polling rate until normalMouse not working or isn't detected on ryzen 5000 system: system problem, common problem on Ryzen 5000 systems.

By far the best of the over 1k polling rate mice, and the only useable one if your like me and play with finger tip grip. This is due to the other high polling rate mice just being too big.In some games the polling rate causes lag. GTA5 would lag out with anything over 2k, and Destiny 2 have very small frame drops with anything over 4k. I suspect this is not due to system load, as the polling rate had a limited effect on CPU usages with my 5800X. Instead I think its due to the games not expecting so much data from the mice (and keyboard if you run some Corsair boards).Is the polling rate noticeable? I love this mouse!I'm a professional programmer (30 years), not much a gamer, but it seems to have the perfect weight, shape, tracking ability, and button feel for me.The slowly-changing LED logo colors are pleasant, and not distracting.I have not installed the Razer custom software that it wants me to, but it still works perfectly fine with the default Windows drivers.This mouse tracks SO much better than my old Microsoft mouse. I can use it on table surfaces that I wasn't able to before.I was pleasantly surprised by both the layout of the friction slides on the bottom, and the material they used for the cable. Both seem more durable than most mice.I would have liked to test the feel of the "mini" version of this mouse, too, but they didn't have any on ... Got this on sale for like $40 and its well worth it. Coming from a deathadder,this mouse was good and bad.Good:1. The sensor is accurate just like my deathadder,but Im not sure if I notice any difference with the 8k polling rate.2. The mouse is very light.3. The side grips feel better than my DA.4. The mouse wheel has a better grip and slight more resistance than my DA,so its less prone to accidental scrolling.5. Two extra buttons on the right side for either lefties,or just additional bindings.Bad:1. The cord enters the mouse way too close to the bottom,so it makes the cord drag across the mouse pad and desk. This creates annoying drag thats really noticeable. TL;DR: The mouse is good while it works. But dealing with multiple broken mice in only about 1 year of use even after FREE replacement isn't really worth the time and the money.Wow, where do I start. Also, there's no wireless capability, although I'm still not sure that wireless is completely ready for prime time when it comes to gaming, so I really don't find that to be a concern. Otherwise and overall, I would rate this one as a solid performer so far.
Razer are top of the line in gaming peripherals, no doubt. I've had mouse and keyboards from them and always enjoyed it. They did the job and gave me competitive edge, while looking great as well.But the hardware would always go bad years down the line, such as double-clicking or not registering clicks. So far, this mouse has been great. I do notice rattling/loose mouse tips straight out the box. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be, but that's my only complaint as of now. Design and performance is amazing. Only time will tell if it'll last the same as my previous Razer peripherals.
Overall a great mouse. I went from the deathadder essential to the viper 8k, and while you can notice a slight improvement upon input lag, and performance it’s not super significant. I like the overall feel of the deathadder more. Personally I have larger hands and it was a lot more comfortable to use. The buttons are also a little awkward to get used to in comparison. The biggest disappointment was finding out that 90% of video games won’t support an 8k polling rate. While it’s nice to have the option it causes extreme input lag while trying to use 8k. All and all I think you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere, but still a solid mouse just not the best option for me.
