If you're a reader - you can also use this tablet to read and download eBooks and PDF's. Lastly, reMarkable does sell an attachable keyboard that you can wield for all of your typing needs.Unfortunately, you will need to pay for a monthly subscription in order to truly utilize this product to it's full extent - which is a bummer considering how much you pay for the tablet itself. However, the first year of the subscription is free with your purchase, and it is only a small fee of $3 a month after that.The reMarkable 2 paper tablet is a niche product that is geared towards a certain group of people - students, business executives, writers, and artists (although - be aware that the sketching capabilities are limited to black/white/grey sketches, as there is no color on this tablet). The hardware is very lightweight, which is perfect for note-taking and carrying, but also very easy to drop.It was fun to follow the on-screen instructions to become acquainted with the reMarkable and like other reviewers, I was astonished at the feel of the pen and its movement on the paper like surface.I annotate a lot of pdfs in the course of my studies and this device has proved invaluable in this respect. I can drag files from my iMac to the reMarkable using the Desktop App and they sync immediately.It's also been great for editing employment documents, as it's super easy to drag the annotated files back from the reMarkable App to my iMac.If you want a distraction-free notebook, on which you can create multiple new notebooks and annotate pdfs, I recommend this device.

Also where are my files stored, do they go through the US, are they end to end encrypted? Either partner with Dropbox or other to make easy automated backups or fix up your solution. The backup works well.-Importing PDF documents to read: granted, I have not yet tried an e-pub with straight text, but importing mixed pdfs with images and text has been a disaster. Scrolling is choppy for big graphics, the image does not scale well to default render entirely on a one page of pdf to one page of remarkable (I should not need to scroll on some pdf documents to see all of a single page, when the pdf is a default a4/a5 size).Verdict: an amazing tool that has replaced my paper and pen. Using it daily, love the organization system and page templates, but the device is not quite there for advanced features. Perhaps that is okay? Like the keyboard, I bought but haven't used once yet, focus on what you do well - introduce a remarkable XL that extends the writing page size to a larger scale, improve the backup, dump the techno garbage paper lovers have a big color monitor and computer for anyway.

I ended by a cheap cover and leaving the keyboard one at home.Sometimes it feels slow and juddery during navigation and at critical events like creating a folder or a note pad. I have even seen the note pad close or not get created without error message. I fear your need some code optimisation if at all possible pleaseI have long long list of loves, happy to share but right now as a customer my interest is in what you can improve in the code and the experience on the R2 platform so most of my focus is experience and personalisation an performance.

So I stayed away from that, but not the pen, which to my surprise didn't work on the right side edge of the screen properly, where you could see the line was way off from the pen tip (about 1-2mm [0.07"]). I emailed them and they excused themselves saying that it was the "third-party" pen, which in reality was the screen... and apparently, I'm not the one suffering from this issue when there's a full forum even a GitHub website with people trying to solve the freaking problem!Here's the link so you can inform yourself of the issues that the company is blaming "third-party" stuff without owning it when in reality is the screen, even using the original pen and case. Now, all the paper notepads are effectively and digitally on my reMarkable 2 as digital notebooks.Erasing, copying and moving text from one page to the next or even to another digital notebook is an absolute no brainer and a god-send.Long...ggg page lengths, copious pages, all with one or many differently selected templates as well as moving pages around a notebook or even to another notebook is a massive timesaver.The folder structure I created for all my digital notebooks (Q&A keepings, Timesheets, References, To Learn, Meeting Notes, Projects, Clients, Systems to name but a few) follow a similar pattern to my working folders on my work's computer so helps on the continuity front.Oh, and tagging pages with tag names and filtering on tags is superb.There's more that could be said for others features of the reMarkable 2 as well as potential new features I think should be introduced in a future O/S vetsion but I'll leave this for another day.

(how I love it 😉)Having said that, some downsides to temper my enthusiasm, and at the same time some improvements for the next update?- Shouldn't the system remember the zoom factor and pan on a note? For me, this isn't the case, and it's a real problem when I go through my notes from page to page, zoomed in and out of focus. You often have to unzoom or slide each page individually to see the content correctly... Very problematic for concentrating on the content.- On the subject of typed text: there's no way of positioning the text wherever you want on the note page, with a sort of drag-and-drop... I haven't found a way to do this... A good idea at first, but ultimately impractical, especially when you want to add typed text to existing notes and drawings...

It wasn't until the big boy on the block of e-readers came out with a suspiciously similar e-writing tablet that I decided to try these things out. I purchased both a few weeks apart.I tried out the one that rhymes with Thimble Tribe first and I was hooked. I didn't care too much about the ebooks as I was focused on the note taking part and it was great with a few annoying bits that hampered the flow ... Then something very very hard to notice at first, but there was a lag from the pencil tip to the mark showing up. It may only be a tiny delay, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. Overall, I liked this model but the file movement was too clunky, I didn't need the ebook part which took center stage, and didn't need a browser(which was laughable at best). Then came the remarkable 2 in the mail. I ordered it from the website as it is oddly pretty hidden on Amazon with only one link for purchase surrounded by other ewritable tablets of all shapes and sizes. When I first put "pencil to paper" it was instantly noticable how focused this tablet was for writing or sketching. Way more options for tools and templates. But the cherry on top, was the ease of moving files around and organising them. Night and day difference!While the remarkable 2 does have a few things that could be improved/added/removed such as processing speed.With larger pdf's, it can sometimes bog down on par with a Commadore Vic 20, so you have to have a bit of patience and let things load for 5,10 or 15 seconds sometimes.Another thing I will nitpick over is the pencils pressure sensitivity is lacking in fidelity When I try to shade something in, it either barely colors in a few pixels or it turns into a black marker....with two shades in between. Last but not least, yea, sure you have a ton of templates, but you can never have to many writing utensils(hint: smudge pen or even charcoal.....that would be epic!). One last thing....the only thing I liked better on the "Tribe" was the eraser. It was much smoother and erased quicker, but then there was the misplaced extra button right where your finger sits naturally...I am sticking with the remarkable for now even with the subscription I will need to pay for in a yearCheers,
