Bought this winch as my Warn 9 500 needed replacing. The Ridge Ryder winch was pretty easy to install but the instructions it comes with are pretty average so you’ll have to look it up if you’re installing yourself. It fells pretty solid but most of the winch is made out of plastic even where it bolts up to the bar. So it’ll be interesting to see how it’ll hold up.

I purchased this winch to tow my caravan into the driveway. Making up the necessary bracketry was easy as the hole spacings are accurate. It is overkill for the application and makes the job easier than expected, much easier than our overpriced Campertrolley.

Still in the box, like insurance, I don’t expect to & hope not to need it or use it, I actually don’t want it, it’s only there if I get caught in a corner & need it, even if it’s only there so I can be helped or help anotherI will attempt to fit it sometime soon before I go in my next trip. After spending 3 hours to install to find out it did not work. Went back to jindalee store to get some help. The two young ladies had know idea about this product. So I decide to self solve my problem. I decide it must be the solenoid box. I had to remove this part in the carpark before a exchange was given to me . After refittting the new part the winch work. I found the service to be non existent.
Just installed is per manual. No fuse or isolator or even a mention of either. So it's standard practice to have 12v accessories without a fuse? That's a fire waiting to happen
It works well in the one time I used it so far. What wasn’t happy about is had to buy new bolts and screws as the bolts for clamping the winch were not machined correctly and so didn’t work.
Worked really well first time using the winch. Easy to install and got me out no worries. I did find a fray in the rope close to the drum on the first use. I will be contacting SCA to see what cam be done. Apart from that very happy.
I installed this winch in my 2017 RG Colorado 4x4 on an Ironman Bull Bar. Installation was fairly straight forward. I had to cut a small section out of the inside of the grill so the winch clutch could turn. I also had to cut out a section in the metal top plate so that I could get my hand in to activate the winch clutch. I also installed a cutout switch on the positive battery lead. The winch looks very well made and now fits like a glove. My research led me to believe that this was the best bang for the buck for my needs. I'm yet to try it in anger though.....
The unit looks well built from the box the instructions leave a lot to be desired for fitment so be prepared to Google how to rotate gearbox if needed. The supplied bolts are way too short if you follow the instructions and mount to the minimum thickness requested and personally I think it should come with an isolation switch for safety cut off so that was an extra expense otherwise for the price on special it’s pretty good value as far as I am concerned.
I’ve had one before on a previous car. So this is my second one and it paid for itself on the first trip! Does the same job as the expensive winches. Also really easy to fit.
