I've been meaning to buy one of these for a long time. When I saw they were offering it at such a low price and then with an echo dot free I had to take the offer. I paid someone to get it installed. Had to buy a new transformer which was around £10 and had it professionally installed which didn't cost too much. Works great and then I realised I needed a chime rather than the notifications coming on the phone. But then after doing some research the echo dot actually connects and works as a ring chime.. Hence the reason they offered a free echo dot. So all in all a very good buy and works great. Talked to the post man today whilst I was at work and told him to leave my parcel with the neighbour..ha ha!

Purchased doorbell camera, two other cameras with lights, and extra batteries. Unfortunately this product constantly has issues. It only worked for the first two weeks and died the morning I went out of town (which was the whole purpose of getting it in the first place). The electrical connection on the doorbell went out a week after installation and I can’t figure out the issue. My doorbell has always worked before ring was installed. The other two cameras I purchased for the driveway are running out of battery at least weekly (good luck going on a trip for more than two weeks). It’s a weekly job to keep the camera batteries going. It’s not that cold and the batteries die in less than two weeks. After spending over $500 in cameras and extra batteries, none of them ... I have been pondering getting one of these doorbells for some time, but the cost of the device plus the subscription always put me off. I also wasn't keen on the physical size of some of the Ring doorbells, some look huge in my opinion. When I came across this smaller wired version, which came at a competitive price, I was very intrigued. After reading several positive reviews, I purchased it and I am very impressed. The camera footage both day and night is very clear and crisp, the notifications come through very quickly and I have paired it to my Amazon Echo's which work well too. The only negative for me (hence 4 stars) is the electrical connections at the back aren't weather protected. Granted it's low voltage but as my Ring is mounted to a brick wall, water ... The only negative for me (hence 4 stars) is the electrical connections at the back aren't weather protected. Granted it's low voltage but as my Ring is mounted to a brick wall, water could drip down the back of the device and onto the contacts. I have attached a small foam strip above the connectors to try and give it some protection. I would recommend this doorbell to anyone though.
Product Gen 1 when battery powered has very weak wifi range. I have both 4G and 5G networks at home and connection is constantly lost even with router placed within 10 feet of my ring. Furthermore, the paid subscription to motion recording is suspect as many of the videos are not captured. Using the Ring app you will also find that connecting to your live feed is usually delayed so long that your guest/porch pirate is long gone before your phone connects to your Ring camera’s live feed. I would not recommend this product to anyone simply because in the event if an issue they will only receive another automated tech response suggesting you go to a community forum for answers. Shame on Ring for this. Ring should have a complete array of error tree and trouble shooting material for their tech support teams to properly assist its customers. As a customer, you are not getting paid and will not earn any Ring rewards for your feedback. Like many tech companies, Ring is hastily rolling out products without a proper battery of testing believing that a customer discovered issue can be magically fixed with another firmware update also created in haste. I wouldn’t be surprised if older products are clutched down through updates to drive customers into frustration to purchase new models. Sustainability at its best. Not interested in another dead end “brand response”. Thanks
Pros: When functional the motion detect is an excellent example of how the camera and computer technology can be used for practical purposes. Cons: The reliance on a wifi signal for any connection between the door bell and sounder is problematic. Even the slightest interruption causes functional delay. The "Processing" delays before being able to connect video and audio remotely make the system increasingly useless. Callers to a house, especially delivery, mail etc. Do not have the time / prepared to wait several minutes for a response. A system that tells you that someone pressed the doorbell some time ago is not helpfull in answering the door. The excessive delay, before the doorbell sounding again is also problematic for those with limited hearing. Really impressed by this device, I'll be taking the subscription at £3.49 a month. No-one can get near the house without us being alerted (this is called an event) and with the subscription, you can download any event or trackback through previous days. Downside is that Information on what is needed with the video doorbell was scant, with the wired bell you obviously need an 12v supply and a WiFi router. Note your existing chime will no longer work once you've wired this in, you can buy a chime but its not really necessary with the app on your phone or device (provided you keep it near you). Everyone in the household can download the app and get the alerts. You can speak to people at the door via the app from wherever you are (provided you have a data signal) ... Once installed though, connection to your wifi router is easy, once that is done anyone else using the app is connected and 'up and running' You can adjust the field of detection to ensure you don't pick up the neighbours properties as you wish, by dragging the 8 points of the field as you see it from the doorbell.
Wanted to get a door bell with a camera for quite sometimes now. Did my research and found that the ring wireless door bell is the cheapest option available at the moment from Ring. Purchased my door bell online it arrived in 2 weeks. Watched YouTube for quick installation guide. Installed the Ring wireless door bell. And was good to go. Until I found out that the products I purchased is not compatible with my main phone. Which is a Blackberry Key 2. So I end it up using the installation guide on my secondary phone which is a Samsung Galaxy. To anyone looking to purchase this product make sure to do your research before you buy it. And find out that this product is not compatible with your device. Just a heads up. Outside that you get what you pay for. If you want ... Doorbell itself is great but only after 4weeks of Customer support to get it going. Doorbell itself kept loosing connection or powerr and stuck in boot mode or w.e (blue light). First 5 calls to Ring, they assume it was my connection or the doorbell is defective. Waited a week for a new one thru them. Same issue. Spent about 80$ to run new wires and new home chime and transformer, I some how managed to fried both unit. So after new tranformer with proper voltage. Worked but still would lose connection. At this point its a lost, by the final call I came across a tech/engineer whom assured me its my router which I firmly disagree since its a flagship router for 2022. But! Turns out it was my router! This works perfect - it actually has come in handy for other reasons too. I have a naughty neighbor who lets her dog run loose in the neighborhood. Literally just after I installed this Ring, I unexpectedly caught her dog on my Ring camera. That was all the proof that Animal Control needed in order to fine her. Anyway, so yea it works great - day or night. The only con I can think of is that because it's not the latest/greatest Ring model it doesn't properly hook up to your existing house doorbell. I mean you can hook it up... but you won't hear anything from your existing house doorbell. You'll need to buy a Ring chime if you want sound in your house.... otherwise you'll just have to accept receiving notifications via the Ring app on your phone.
