Have a few narrow paths in the apartment (in total only 4 cm wider than the robot itself) and S5 Max easily passes through those spots.AppThe app is easy to use (if you ever used a smartphone) and allows a ton of customization. If you want a lot of custom setups, it might take 30-45 min to set everything up. if you just want minimal customization and let robot AI do the work you will be done with the app in 3-5 min. Room splitting is great, no-go zones and no-mop zones are awesome. Tracking the robot in the app is a cool feature, which also shows where S5 Max already cleaned.

I am very pleased with this robot hoover, it is working great. The navigation and mapping features work well even though we have a lot of clutter around, at places narrowing the space to navigate to only 50-60 cm. I drove the robot (in remote control mode) around once in all rooms to have the map populated in app on my phone. After that I've set up the invisible walls to lock out certain areas, setup the order of rooms and it was all done. Started the robot, watched it go around (the first 3 times) to see it is coping well overall. Thanks to the underside brush and strong suction it cleans even the carpet at our entrance door, which was always a problem (even when we manually hoover it with a proper mains powered hoover). This is also a testament of the suction power in my opinion. The only problems so far I've come across were: It is not able to start where I've placed the dock. This is not an issue with the product, just a bad placement,something I can't address at my place due to all the furniture and clutter. No big deal, as I empty/clean the dust bin just before running the robot anyways. All I need to do is: grab the robot from it's dock, put it in the middle of the room (empty the dust bin) and short press the power button. After that it does it's job perfectly. It got stuck once on the foot of my wife's chair. The chair has a long almost S shaped wood starting as the feet curving up as armrest and ending as the back support. One day the robot managed to 'climb' onto this wooden foot piece and got stuck as the wood is thick enough to reach the robot's bottom, while the wheels are not longer reaching the ground properly. I've added an invisible wall to where the feet of the chair are and so far there where no further problems (we do not move the chair around obviously). Overall I am very pleased with this robot hoover, it cleans great, not very loud, takes a lot less time to clean, than my previous robotic hoover. Before this I only had a Haier T321, which is not the same price bracket and thus not a fair comparison basis, however it is my only prior experience with robotic hoovers. Any comparative statements above would have been against the T321.

I own a 3-yr old dumb and bump Ecovac robo vacuum so the contrast is stark. Roborock S5 max has a Lidar, so many more sensors, it can navigate my rooms with obstacles effortlessly. I used to have to pick up things and prepare the rooms for Ecovac, but not anymore. Now I put S5 Max on a schedule, certain days it'll clean living room, kitchen, master BR...etc The mopping feature like many said is weak, and is nothing more than dragging a wet rag across the floor; for me, it's better than nothing, but i don't expect it to really do the "mopping" that some areas need.The app is powerful and makes the robot highly ... Once it reduced the 'base load' of cat fur to like...what you'd get if you are not lazy and vacuum every 4 days or so, then I found it was managing quite well, e.g. not completely full by the end of the clean. You will want to clean the vacuum wheels afterwards if it's going through a carpeted high fur area to ensure the wheels and rotating carpet paddle agitator can spin freely.Overall it does what it says it would, I went in with the understanding this would be a cleaning support tool that would fill in the gaps and leave me more likely to do other cleaning jobs which produces overall a tidier house.
Good Points: Maps out your house really well, separating rooms so you can just clean kitchen or dining room etc.Easy to use and setup with app.The vacuuming is better then I can do, however this review is based on just hard floors.Mopping feature works well, only on highest water setting.Great value for money. Cleans pretty thoroughly on our tile floor, where there are a lot of wide grooves. Mop functionality is spot on. The app is really nifty too, after the first run the robot will save the floor plan and allow you to divide the house into rooms, and run the vacuum against just certain rooms. You can also set areas that are off-limits for the robot, or only off-limits when you've got the mop attached. But apparently you can place the robot on any floor and it will keep track of each floor's map, up to four at a time.Although the provided instructions ask you to install the Xiaomi Home app for smart integration, I'd strongly recommend using the Roborock app instead, which is newer and not as buggy. If you want to use Google Assistant, as of writing this you NEED to use the Roborock app, because the integration with Mi Home has been broken for months now. I also couldn't get Home Assistant integration to work, Xiaomi might be patching against that through firmware updates.The downsides: although it has a sensitive bump sensor, it tends to run over things like cables and larger pieces of waste that may be lingering on the floor (which get trapped and prevents suction, unbeknownst to the vacuum). But that's what you get with a lidar robot vacuum as opposed to one with a front-facing camera like the S6 MaxV. Also, the app is buggy sometimes when using the map: zooming is really slow and defining boundaries is a painful process.All in all really impressed.
We have been impressed with the Roborock S5 Max and have found that it especially works well on hardwood/tile floors. It works well on carpet as well but does drain our battery much quicker. We had a very old roomba prior where it bounced off the walls and never returned to the dock to recharge on its own. We really like how the machine seems to cover the entire surface with smarts. The apps is handy but is a little clunky i would say. It works in beta form it seems for both our floors but moving between the floors and merging and splitting of areas is a bit cumbersome within the app. The app is nice to see where the machine is at any given time however even when away.
