In my personal opinion, I would say this microphone is best used for settings where the ambient noise is below 78db. It works fine in noisier environments, just be ready to hear the backround noise in your output when playing back the audio. I want to be clear that this lav microphone is a "close range" microphone. What that means is whatever you want to connect this to needs to be within an arm's reach. I've used this for vlogging with my GoPro having it directly connected and with a 22" selfie stick fully extended, I've reached the cord's max length "when concealing the cable inside my shirt". This lav microphone works very very well with my Rode wireless Go incase you guys were wondering. It allows more flexibility with microphone placement of you don't want to use the Wireless go's transmitter itself which I have a video on that microphone as well. - yes you can use this with a personal recording device (as long as it has a 3.5mm input jack for you to connect this in) - yes you can use it for your DSLR or point and shoot camera (also as long as it has a 3.5mm input jack) - I use this with my Samsung note 10+ using the "Voice recorder app" and with my GoPro Hero8 inside the media mod. A special adaptor is needed to use this with your modern samsung and apple phones that no longer have a 3.5mm input jack. - I am not sure if you could use this with a laptop as a dedicated microphone for web chatting or anything relative but if your device has a didicated microphone input, I'm sure you could. I like to do random test with equipment of all sorts with as many different scenarios as possible, grabbing as much information as possible so hopefully I am able to answer your questions or concerns you may have on this product. Compact little lav mic that works for me on my YouTube Channel even when mounted in my motorcycle helmet in a loud environment. I use a front mounted GoPro Camera with the MediaMod mic input for TRS mics. I have a line in to the media mod that I use for a mic that I place inside my motorcycle helmet. Needless to say the two most important things in this usage are; compact size, and sound quality. The Rode GO omni directional mic does both of these things admirably.

I use this mic for motovlogging. The sound is clear and crisp. It has a great balance of treble and bass. It does not sound tinny at all. Although Rode says the cable is kevlar, it is super thin. Only time will tell if it is durable. I beat it up pretty good and it is basically used under a helmet but outdoors and in the heat. Wind deflection is good enough. On a motorcycle this is difficult to tame. It's very dependent on the helmet. Regardless, it sounds great!

Great quality audio from the LAV mic. I trust anything RODE creates when it comes to professional audio. I originally intended to use these Lav mics on the Rode Wireless Go I and II. But now that I have transitioned over the the newer DJI Wireless Mics, I still use this lavalier on a different system and it's only one of the few mics out there that does not give any weird noises when paired with a wireless system. It's a bit more on the pricey side compared to other lavs, but to me its worth it.
Looking around for inexpensive but good quality lav mics for video podcasts, I stumbled across Rode Lavalier GO by accident, initially. But the price was good enough I had to try one. The results were good enough that I ended up with four -- two white, two black -- so I can more closely match the color of whatever our hosts and guests are wearing. Maybe it's because we're using them in a studio setting, but all I've experienced with them is good vocal sound with plenty of clarity and no noise. (We connect them to our console with the Rode VXLR Pro adapter.) Unbeatable for the price.
The microphone sound is great. The wire loop on the clip that's supposed to hold the mic, busted off right away. Right away. Possibly just unlucky. The lav wire is also very thin. I'm not sure how durable it will be down the road. I've only done a few interviews with is so far. Happy with sound. Disappointed with construction.
I normally love Rode stuff and I have one of their shotgun mics as well as a studio condenser. I purchased a low-cost lavalier mic on eBay last year called a "PoP" mic (that's the brand name), and I compared it side-by-side with the Rode. The Rode sounded muddy, and highs were muted. The sound from the PoP mic was actually better than the Rode. To make sure, I did the test again in another environment (a quieter environment). The Rode still came out second-- at three times the price. I will say the Rode mic has a nicer, thinner cable which uses Kevlar and the mic clip is nicer because it keeps the mic a few millimeters away from your clothing. But there is no way this mic is worth the cost.
I got this lav mic to make short videos on my iPad mini 6. The good: * Sound quality is better than the iPad's built-in mic, for sure. I'm happy with the sound overall from this lav mic. The bad: * Requires not one but two adapters to connect to the iPad. That's Apple's fault, not Rode's fault though. I needed an Apple USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, and then also a TRS to TRRS adapter. * The clip is hard to attach or even figure out how the lav mic is supposed to work in it, and it doesn't come with instructions. But at least the clip is easily replaced. * The cord is 4ft long, which is certainly long enough for a wireless setup, but makes it so I have to be very close to my iPad in order to use it. The build quality is horrible. Flimsy. The clip is metal, and it is nice. That is the only thing differentiating its build quality from a cheap fifteen dollar lav mic. I had to turn my gain to 100 and then my sound card's "mic boost" feature the max (what it calls "+30db") to get it audible less than two inches from my mouth. This resulted in a clipped sound having everything cranked up, but I could at least position the mic about 7 inches from my mouth on my shirt. It's just junk. You buying a nice lav clip. Otherwise it might as well be sold at a dollar general in the impulse isle. I tried different sample rates on my PC's sound card. It doesn't get any better at 24 bit 192 Khz or anything below that. Which means it would require an extension cord for me anyway. I didn't even try it with an extension cord since it works poorly without one. My sound card is built into my motherboard a Asus ROG Strix Z590-A. It says this on the specs: ALC4080 with Savitech SV3H712 amplifier, along with DTS® Sound Unbound and Sonic Studio III
