Rode NT1 Signature Series Studio Condenser Microphone in Pink

An excellent studio pack for my new home studio, as a Nature & wildlife photographer & sound recordist, I require quality products, not just for in the field but also home recording & processing, the Rode NT1-A is of great quality & is a very useful addition to my home studio. The NT1-A is also good for field recording due to its very sensitive, very low noise mic, although, you will need wind protection for it.The microphone has great sounding audio, looks good & feels good, the kit included a very nice quality shock-mount & handy 'POP' filter built in, the mount & filter are easy to attach & to position however you like it. My only disappointment was that all of the reviews say that it comes with a DVD, mine did not have one, but this is not really an issue as the videos contained on it are now available on Youtube.I also have an Rode NTG1 & a matched pair of Rode M5 microphones, all with the quality you expect from Rode.

The Rode NT1 is a great condenser mic. Over the years I have used mics right across the price spectrum, from the ludicrously expensive in high end studios like Neumann and Telefunken, all the way down to cheap, nameless, podcast and vlog knock offs.I bought the NT1 for my home studio, as I'd read some really good and encouraging reviews. I have to agree. The NT1 punches well above its weight, delivering vocal recordings suggestive of a far far more expensive and high end mic. It has the clarity and sensitivity to ensure a superb vocal recording. I honestly can't differentiate between the vocal performances I've recorded with the NT1, against those I've done in professional studios with mics costing thousands of pounds. Don’t be fooled by price

What can I say, it’s a Rode. There’s a reason why the NT-1 is one of the biggest selling microphones. The sound quality is superb. The cool colors are perfect for my daughter’s podcast. Really stands out. Great value for the money. Comes with everything you need. Great for vocals or whatever you put in in front of. Dry low self noise so you can compress it not expect noise. For the price, add one to your mic locker…you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent condenser mic. A truly versatile workhorse.

This mic is warm, yet true to the voice. Great on guitars, drum overheads, percussion, and just about anything else you can throw at it (except liquids, you'll want to avoid those). The double stage metal (aluminum?) pop filter works like a charm. Get your face right in it and it will take all your voice can project. A little air and a little sparkle are already there; not much needed to make this mic shine. Only drawback I would say is that the shockmount does transfer some low frequency rumble due to its construction material. If you have a vocalist or someone who isn't great on avoiding a stand/boom arm or brushing up against the mount, you'll definitely want to aggressively high pass the rumble. Excellent gear for this price point

I've used the MXL990 for a long time for recording acoustic guitar and even the guitar amp. Very pleased with that one.Now it got damaged and thus I went for something similar at a slightly higher price point. This Røde NT1 is just amazing and stands on a higher level. Noise-wise it's superior and you can definitely hear that. The sound is so clean, you'll want to bring that down. Very important is also the weight, because your stand will not require a counter weighton most cases, even on a lighter stand.

It's As Good As You've Been Hearing!

I know what my voice sounds like, and I know which mics make it sound better and which do not. I have used many different mics. Some mics will never sound great no matter how much you try to EQ them. Others can sound great with some significant EQing. But the ideal mic sounds awesome with no EQing. And that is precisely the case with this mic. As long as you keep it within about 3-5 inches from your mouth, it will probably work very well in almost any room (but don't use it in your bathroom!). To sum up, this is the mic I have been looking for, for years. My search is over.

Perfect Mic

I have been using this mic for live stream performance and recording videos for social media. This mic is very clear and picks up vocals extremely well. So before plugging my guitar and amp into my mixer board the mics quality is so good it picked up my guitar acoustically without drowning out my vocals. The construction of this mic is very high quality for the price.

RODE doesn't disappoint

I've always been a fan of RODE Mics, the signature series does not disappoint. It's hard to believe that they can put this much quality into a mic at this price point. I have used it on a few demo vocals and I think it going to make it to the final mix. At this price point...just buy it, you won't be disappointed. Add it to your mic locker!

Rode NT1-A Microphone - Excellent Performance For The Price

I use the Rode NT1-A microphone for voiceover work. It is a cardioid condensor mic made by a venerable Australian manufacturer. Anyone serious about their voiceover craft must at some point put away the low end imitatators (read: USB mic) and invest in a condensor mic. While I could have spent much more money on a condensor mic, I am very satisfied with the performance I get from this sub-$200 analog device. It's sound is bright and responds modestly to sibilance, although I will concede that some find it overly sibilant. While the mids aren't impressive, they aren't bad, and the lower tones sound better than I expected. The active electronics inside the Rode NT1-A consists of a JFET impedance converer with bipolar output buffer. It's a side-address mic and the frequency response is 20-20,000Hz and output impedance of 100 ohms. Maximum SPL is 137 dB. It weighs 326 grams and connects to preamps/audio interfaces via 3-pin XLR cabling. These electronics lendwell to male and lower pitch female vocals. Higher frequencies can come off as harsh so I wouldn't recommend it for a soprano voice. An additional consideration of mine for buying the NT1-A is Michael Joly of Oktavamod (octavamod dot com) produces a modification of this mic that makes it sound very similar to a Neumann U87 (which costs over $3,000) for only $399. Those who listened to sound samples on Michael's website had a very hard time discerning a difference between the modded NT1-A and the U87 which, in my opinion, is flat out amazing. One drawback of this mic is the rather tight wire distribution on the headbasket that limits its midrange frequency response as well as the effective pickup pattern. However, the only people who can identify this limitation are experienced audio engineers and artists who've spent years in the studio. Since my voiceover audience are primarily corporate citizens listening to e-learning audio and explainer videos, this limitation of the NT1-A is a non-factor.

I have also used this microphone with a Mackie DLZ Creator, and I get the same clear vocals that I get from the RodeCaster.The only disadvantage is that you're going to need some sort of XLR-capable audio interface that can supply 48v Phantom Power to the microphone, and if you don't have one, that's going to be an additional cost. I have a RodeCaster Duo, but there are less expensive options available. The fact that this is a condenser mic, rather than a dynamic, means that the mic does not need the sort of gain that you would need with a dynamic microphone.If you already have the equipment to attach this to, at the price point, with the sound quality, accessories, and Rode's 10-year warranty, it's almost a must buy if you need a quality mic at an truly exceptional price.
