So far I've only used this in the studio. It is a sharp lens. Very quick delivery and well packed by B&H. Much appreciated. This lens was not bought to shoot quick rather to shoot carefully and with more thought then just point and shoot. The build quality seems top notch. Very smooth focus. Great lens cap. Electronics would be nice but you'll get by if you're a old school photographer that came up in the 4x5/8x10 days when you had to be very methodical.

I have been using Rokinon lenses for astrophotography for years and have come to expect great things out of them. Whether it is the 14mm or the 24mm I am using I don't want to end up with something I can't use at the end of a session. After moving to the new Z6 I continued using my old Rokinons and they worked just fine. But I decided I wanted to have a Z mount Rokinon and do away with the convertor. The only complaint I have is the lens is heavy. But the pictures are fantastic!

So this lens fits my Nikon Z6 natively without an adapter. That's because it's as big as a lens + the adapter. It is longer than the 24-70 kit lens, which is already kinda big. Also, even though I have it setup for non-cpu lens, the aperture information is not saved in the EXIF. In fact, NOTHING is saved in the exif (no focal length, no aperture) Not sure if that's a bug in the Nikon or not, but my Rokinon 8mm with ZtF adapter at least showed that information on my Z6.Finally, the focus is a bit soft no matter where you are. especially if you accidentally think that infinity focus is really infinity. On my lens, infinity is really closer to 3mI was really close to giving it just 2 stars, but it's cheap, and it's native on the Z6, and so far it takes pretty ... MoreSo this lens fits my Nikon Z6 natively without an adapter. I bought this lens strictly for doing astrophotography. There are no electronics or chips in this lens so your camera will not know what kind of lens it is or what F-stop it is set at.You will have to manually set your ISO and exposure time on your camera because if you let your camera guess the ISO and shutter speed, it will be either over way over exposed or under exposed.Otherwise this lens takes some great photos. You just have to set up everything manually.
Got this for Astrophotography on my Z7 and Z50. This lens does very well and has minimal coma. Not giving 5 stars only because there is no focus confirmation chip, otherwise the lens is excellent.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this lens given the price point. Clear, crisp images. f2.8 gives great light for night photography which was the primary reason I bought the lens. Very happy with the purchase.
I started getting into astrophotography in the last couple of years and had switched to the Nikon Z6 body using the Nikkor S 24-70 f2.8 or Nikkor S 35mm f1.8. Both lenses do very well but I wanted something wider. I didn’t want to wait for the 14-24 f2.8 lens or buy a F mount lens. After much research and the desire for a Z mount lens that wouldn’t break the bank, I decided on the Rokinon 14mm f2.8 Z mount. This lens has performed great after using it for two weeks! It is very sharp corner to corner and great image quality across the board. It is a fully manual lens and doesn’t communicate f stop information to the Z6 but that wasn’t a deal breaker. This lens will mainly be used for astrophotography. . Nothing cheap felling about this lens. Would love to see an auto-focus version of this lens, but very happy with my purchase. If you are in the market for a super wide angle, especially astrophotographers, this is a great choice!
I had the similar model lens for my Nikon d750. I then upgrade the body to the new Z6. The old lens will kit work with the FTZ adapter. When I saw that Rokinon was releasing the Z mount version, I jumped right on it. Image wise, it’s just as good as its predecessor. Only draw backs to the new lens is that it is completely manual. The aperture is manual and there is no focus confirmation chip. You have to use the manual focus peaking setting. All this took a few days to get used to, I’m super happy with this wide angle at such a reasonable price.
I purchased this lens for astrophotography. It works very well with my Z5. I'm a fairly new photographer, especially with mirror less cameras, so using manual focus has been a bit of a challenge. This lens has been easy for me to learn on. I was able to take a nice photo in my backyard and see stars that were hidden due to light pollution. I used a tripod, opened the aperture and set the shutter to 15 seconds. Will be taking a trip to Shenandoah national park soon and hope to get a nice photo of the milky way. I highly recommend this lens.
This lens was purchased for ultra-wide landscape and astrophotography and it seems to be super sharp in the center mid area very close to the margins except corners witch can be quite soft at f2.8. but they get decent sharp at f4 and up. Overall the build quality is very good, the lens is quite heavy and the focus is very smooth. For the reduced price of $369 - this lens is really worth is price, at $499 - probably I'll look elsewhere - like Laowa.Pros:- Ultra wide prime at a decent price- f2.8- Good overal built quality- Precise and smooth focus ring- Super sharp in most of the frameCons:- Big and heavy- No front filter support- Soft corners at f2.8- Non removable hood
