The first order I placed was for a TD-17KVX but discovered the possibility that it could be a store demo unit.I called in and spoke to David Weintraub who let me know that the order was indeed for a demo unit and I told him I wasn't interested in that. Since they were being clearanced out there weren't any new ones available. I asked if he could cancel that order and he was able to right away.He offered to sell me the newer upgraded unit at a good price but it was double what I was originally hoping to pay for a drum kit. Told him that was something I needed to think about and would get back to him.In the meantime David got me an account setup on the site, input all my information and added the newer kit into my shopping cart with a discount. He understood my situation and gave me time to think about it.I thought about it and ended up going through with the purchase. Called David to let him know I placed the order and he gave me an estimate time for shipping since it was moving across the country. I received half of the order on Thursday which was for the drum kit stand but saw on the tracking info that the other box had issues with the shipping label and would be delayed. Kept my eye on the tracking info and the other half of the kit ended up showing up on the following Monday. Unpacked everything and all of it looked good, thank goodness!David called me the next day to follow up and ensure I received my order. I appreciated his follow up and thanked him for all of his help.David Weintraub saved this sale! He was very professional, polite and a great person to work with. He absolutely deserves a promotion and a raise!!Thank you again David!

There’s plenty of really good reviews on this kit online but just wanted to add my 2 cents. Coming from a Yamaha DTX with mostly rubber pads (gel snare) this has been a massive step up and has already seen my drumming skills skyrocket. I was originally looking at 17KVX2, but the extra bells and whistles on the 27KV2 tempted me to drop more $$$, and I think it was a good choice. The DTX was a great introductory kit and good fun, good for limb independence etc, but had no subtlety in the expression. This thing is scarily accurate in how well it translates what my hands are doing to it’s output, where the DTX would let you get away with some fudged technique that won’t work here! Which is a great thing. The snare is beautiful and feels just like the real thing - ... MoreThere’s plenty of really good reviews on this kit online but just wanted to add my 2 cents. Which is a great thing. The snare is beautiful and feels just like the real thing - picks up on the smallest of grace notes and does an uncanny job of replicating complicated rolls. The hi hat likewise replicates the smallest notes really well, and has a bunch of different zones for more interesting expression from the top to the edge. The real surprise MVP here is the digital ride cymbal - not the component I think of first when it comes to drums but this thing is truly great. It’s hard to explain without playing but like the snare, it has an amazing ability to translate complex input in to a convincing sound - it can go from standard hits, with some bell hits thrown in to mix it up, and then transition to a rising swell all at the same time. The resonance of any previous hits on other parts of the cymbal continue in a realistic way. Being a big cymbal, I also like that the bell zone is very generous compared to other kits I’ve played - makes it much easier for me to nail it everytime I want it.The module is also excellent and very easy to use - it’s so easy to change the tones, sounds and EQ in real time, with muffling and levels right on the front panel. I’ve got it paired with an Alesis Strike 12, and it sounds fantastic.Overall really happy with this purchase.

This review is actually for Roland V-Drums in general. I have played a TD25 for a few years now and recently started gigging with it. Last Friday March 31st my band was setting for a show here in Arkansas when the venue was hit and destroyed by a EF3 Tornado! My band walked away without a scratch but our gear was not so lucky. Guitars, PA, System, Keyboards, Lights were thrown and scattered. Ironocally my V-Drums stood their ground BUT unfortunately were covered in mud and water as a result of the roof being blown off teh buidling. I spent the entire next day cleaning and repairing. I had a few dents in the rack and a couple of the heads were damaged but at the end of the day the V-Drums were reassembled and powered on! Usually electronics and water (and tornados) ...
