Both factions are fantastic. New advanced setup rules improve play overall. Hirelings improve lower player count play.

Wonderful online shopping experience, fast delivery, everything I've gotten from Game Kings has been arrived in perfect condition and been a wonderful addition to my board game collection! Super fun expansion too, can't wait to try it with more people, and try the new Hireling and Advanced Setup options!

It's fun packed in a box. It's like D&D turned into in a board game, with cards instead of dice and DM. Takes time to unbox and set up (huge amount of token and cards), but this is fun too. Quality of parts is top notch. Gameplay is amazingly designed. You can choose how much you role play, but you can definitively role play if you want. Feels like a campaign setting for D&D.

Of the three Root expansions currently out this is my favorite. While the Corvid faction, from the Underworld expansion, may be my favorite both the Rats and the Badgers offer awesome new play experiences. And while the new boards in the Underworld expansion add a new type of variety the addition of the hirelings in the Marauders box really helps the game work even better at all player counts and adds variability of its own. If you enjoy Root and want something more I highly recommend this expansion. Just make sure that, if you are a newer player, you wait to try the badgers, The Keepers in Iron, until you feel more confident in playing the more complex factions!
I've bought every Root expansion and, if I had one minor complaint, it would be the shortage of "military" factions, limiting faction choices especially at lower player counts. This expansion, by adding 2 new military factions, restores the balance.
Happy with this expansion - love Root!
Still haven't played the game but played jaws of the lion and it was awesome. When I got mine, the box was bit teared up (fixed it with tape), definitely was the fault of the post. To conclude, if you have time and friends to play with I definitely recommend.
The factions are awesome and enjoyed playing playing them with other factions.
The Lord of the Hundreds might, certainly, be one of my favorite factions to play; but, it will never be one of my favorite factions to play against. These rats just swarm! And, unless you get on them fast, they're likely to take and hold an early lead. I would only allow the Hundreds to be played in a multi-player game in which other players can form temporary alliances to keep the rats in check. The Keepers in Iron faction is a nice addition all around. These badgers have their own agenda can play it out in cleverly unusual ways. The "hirelings" to help balance things out in two-player games is a welcome addition.
