Pretty good. Wish kibble size was smaller

I really like this brand & their breed specific approach. Our lab is on the Labrador food & im absolutely thrilled with the results! The dachshund food however needs reformulating. The food pieces are super small & had me checking to see if I had mistakenly bought puppy food. They’re so small in fact, my dog wasn’t chewing the food & was scarfing the whole bowl in about 30 seconds. And then he would bark for an hour because he ate so fast he still felt hungry & wanted more (he’s a standard size purebred dachshund weighing 21 lbs & was eating the appropriate amount twice a day). We switched to a slow feeder bowl & it helped but he still didn’t chew the majority of the food. This formula states it’s supposed to make poops smaller & less stinky which is just unnecessary pandering to pet owners. In our dachshund this “feature” of the food lead to a renewal of anal gland problems (that terrible fishy odor that has your dog boot scooting across rugs & licking incessantly at their behinds). Anal gland issues are common in dachshunds & other small breeds so I personally find it puzzling that a food designed specifically for a breed known to have these problems not only fails to address them but introduces a feature that can exacerbate the problem. The most expensive problem however came in the vet bills & medications we accumulated thanks to the ear inflammation our dog developed about half way through the bag. The first suspect the vet had was the recent food switch. We went over the ingredients with him in the office & he felt it was probably the brewers rice causing the reaction. It’s listed as the first ingredient on chewy’s list but is the second listed on the bag. I was a bit shocked after looking at the labrador ingredients list to see how low quality the dachshund food seemed in comparison. Every dog is an individual and reacts differently but im not impressed with this formula. All in all this has been a very expensive bag of food that had more pitfalls than benefits. We’ve switched to a different brand but I still believe in royal canin’s breed specific approach and would be willing to consider this food again if it saw an overhaul.

My experience, and maybe I should say Cooper's experience with Royal Canin Breed Health Nutrition Dachshund Adult Dry Dog Food has been great. When the bag of dog food came to our house he had a sense that what was in the box was for him. As soon as I took the dog food bag out of the box, he was jumping ro want to see what I had. I put the bag Sheth and he scratched at the bag and moved it around the kitchen floor!! He wanted in. I started by given him some in my hand as a treat and he loved it. I introduced little by little so his stomach would not get upset. I am grateful their is a breed specific food for my fur baby. I received a bag of Adult dachshund teckel dog food from Royal Canin and RippleStreet in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed trying this dog food for my 3 dachshunds. I have always heard great things about this food from breeders and vets, but I wasn’t sure on the ingredients. We have tried a lot of other brands (including fresh), and this food is the only one that all of my dachshunds love. I like that the kibble size is specialized for a dachshunds mouth. My older Doxie is 13 years old, and has had teeth extractions etc. and this food made it easier for her to chew. The kibble size is nice and small. It has a nice smell to the kibble, a fresh kibble scent. I love how the bag is easy to close, thus making the food easier to store. Lastly my younger doxie has had allergies to other foods (getting bumps on her belly), and this food after a few weeks cleared the bumps up. ... MoreI really enjoyed trying this dog food for my 3 dachshunds. Now she is still allergic to grass, so in the summer it flares up. But with this food it has become more manageable. My vet actually wasn’t surprised that a switch to RC helped my dog. Overall I would purchase this food again, and I would recommend it to other dachshund owners.

[Rewarded Review] Great Size Kibble For Dachshunds!
17 April 2024

The boys were very happy to try a new food. They devoured Royal Canin’s Dachshund mix. I was happy to see a food made for their special needs. Joint health one in particular as they have such short legs. Huey is often sensitive to foods and this is the case today. His legs are swollen and sensitive, we will stop the new food. The other pup is feeling fine and will happily enjoy the rest of the bag. We will introduce any new foods slowly to our boys as should always be done especially with known food sensitivities.

My daschund is a picky eater since he was a puppy. It is hard to find a food that he really likes. I'm happy to had the opportunity to try out Royal Canine Daschund food. It provides joint and bone support with calcium and phosphorus to help supportlimbs and a long backbone.muscle tone with precise protein content and L-carnitine. It also reduces stool volume and odor with highly digestible proteins and precise fiber content. I really like giving him a breed-specific diet that is formulated with the specific nutrients to help him thrive.I will buy this food and will recommend it to my doxie parents friends.

My dog really loved this food. She enjoyed experimenting with a new food. The size of the kibble was perfect. I like that it was specifically designed for her breed. I would not purchase this food as a every day treat. Because the price is so expensive I would only purchase maybe once or twice a year and sprinkle as a topping on her food. I would recommend this food to anyone who does not have a price issue and is looking for a good food for their dachshund.

Let me start by saying that I have a very picky dachshund. I have tried a variety of food with very little success. She will eat some of the lower nutrition Foods available on the market, probably because they are like junk food for dogs. But when it comes to the higher quality stuff, she always turns her nose at it. When an opportunity to try the Dachshund Royal Canin came up, I was intrigued and excited. I have looked at it in the stores but never purchased it due to not wanting to buy yet another product that she would snub. One of the things I love about it is the size of the morsels. She often struggles with smaller or larger morsels of food, and this seems just about perfect. She is very active, and I am always worried about her joints. I am going to continue feeding her this, and if she continues to eat it, it definitely will be the brand that I purchased in the future! I recommend other dachshund owners to at least give this a try.
