Complex is bad.No socket for using a pstn phone with IP telephony - not a biggie, but for a mid-range home router the omission was odd.You DO need to know a bit about router security to get the best out of this as the security features are all disabled by default. This is reasonable, but if you want security, you will either need to know how to configure a router properly or get help. There is no easy peasy wizard, though the device does actually tell you what might be wrong, if you know where to look, which is a plus.Made in China. Would be nice not.Apart from that, it's a great piece of kit and well worth the money.

Every router I've ever used has been a straight forward set up, but this one was a bit tricky. The Quick Setup Wizard didn't work at all at first. Got me into Router Settings, but no internet and no wireless access. WAP light was red, even after multiple restarts etc.The solution was to download the latest firmware update off the ASUS website on my phone using mobile data. Transferred that to my PC, and then sent the firmware update to the router through the Router Settings page.Rebooted the router again and finally got some internet!Just wrote this down in case anyone has the same struggle. There's no instructions mentioning firmware updates, and if you have no existing working router then you'll have to download that update using mobile data or someone else's ... MoreEvery router I've ever used has been a straight forward set up, but this one was a bit tricky. The Quick Setup Wizard didn't work at all at first. I bought the RT-AX58U variant of this router, which is allegedly the same thing. I didn't know that, but it's good news to me. :) This is 1 of the fastest routers at the mid-level tier that I ever had. Pretty easy to set up for the most part & it even has an Android app for remote access. Works seamlessly with all my devices – no issues or anything. Great security & other features too. Definitely a 3-star product... :D

Moving to PA from MI meant changing to a new cable company. Going from Comcast to Armstrong was a big change for 2 reasons:1: It halved my speed from 1000 to 5002: I was expected to use a new system for wifi. The new system is terrible and I knew on day 1 that I needed to get a better solution. A trip to Microcenter fixed my tech woes (as it always does) and I was directed toward the Asus RT-AX3000 by the knowledgeable and helpful staff.Anyone who has had to do some network configuring knows how difficult it can be. Fortunately ASUS makes it easy. The AX3000 hits just right with speed, ease of use and range all providing the perfect solution. It even reaches my garage!
What an animal. If a domesticated dog inflicted that much damage to a person they would put it down, no questions asked. Now we get to watch the mother of the criminal stand up and say "oh my Joseph is such a good boy! He was just starting to get his life together, please give him the light sentence he deserves!" And then the judge gives him a light sentence. Happens all the time here in California. That poor woman's injuries are for LIFE! The punishment should fit the crime.
You should have bought a router for YOUR TI purposes only!! this is a router that's meant for maybe an apartment or a 2 possibly 3 bedroom home not for an office building! it's no wonder it didn't give results like you wanted and it failed. this is a entry level Wi-Fi router you should have kept with the Netgear nighthawk or something similar. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PLACEMENT OF THE ROUTER WAS ALSO A BIG REASON TOO. . These are 101 facts and you claim to say your I.T if I was in your position there would have been no way in hell would have bought this router I would have went with something higher in for my "clients". this router performs exceptionally well with a range of probably 150 to 200 ft with obstructing walls I haven't had any issues and I've had this ... MoreYou should have bought a router for YOUR TI purposes only!! this is a router that's meant for maybe an apartment or a 2 possibly 3 bedroom home not for an office building! it's no wonder it didn't give results like you wanted and it failed. this is a entry level Wi-Fi router you should have kept with the Netgear nighthawk or something similar. Possibly look in to an AI mesh system.
I bought this over the past summer since it kept going on sale. I've been using an RT-AC1900P for years. That wireless router worked very well for me. I only set up the AX3000 a few days ago and I wasn't expecting it to impress me, but it has. I would give the AX3000 5 eggs if it weren't for 1 thing: if you're the ASUS customer rep reading this review, this is what you need to know. For me, the main selling point for this product was the fact its set up to allow the owner to flash another firmware right out of the box. There's some weirdo out there who makes firmware specifically for ASUS wireless routers. Its called ASUSWRT-MERLIN. The last time this firmware was updated was back in August and the project has since been on hiatus. The last time this firmware was updated was back in August and the project has since been on hiatus. The only detail I know about it is ASUS suddenly stopped sharing source code the project needs to continue. I'm not sure if this is limited to ASUS or if its industry wide, but this is a shame since I like using ASUSWRT-MERLIN and, as I understand it, ASUSWRT-MERLIN provided features and bugfixes that ASUS used in their own official firmware updates. I will change this review (if I can) and bump it up to 5 eggs once the ASUSWRT-MERLIN project resumes. And, yes, this is a big deal to me when it comes to buying ASUS routers.
So far, so good! I mainly bought this router to upgrade my previous 2017 ASUS router. I wanted a WiFi 6 router to handle all of my smart devices mainly. I have around 15+ or so, and it seems to help immensely. Lights, humidifier, HomePods, TV, light switches, etc. I use HomeKit and Apple devices. In the past, I know HomeKit was definitely a struggle, and it still is unfortunately, but right away I noticed a complete difference with the speed and loading times of the Apple Home app. My WiFi speeds reach around 660mbps+ now when I have gigabit internet from my provider, and I can’t complain because it’s working flawlessly. I have no background when it comes to router tech, and it was easy to set up with no issues at all, I used a MacBook Pro for the set up. All in ... MoreSo far, so good! I hadn't bought a new wireless router in at least fifteen years. The tech has changed quite a bit. The GUIs have improved considerably and the features offered by these newer routers blows my mind away. What used to require hacking (side-loading customized firmware) now comes as standard features. Can I compare this to similar routers on the market or even other products in the same product line? Unfortunately not. But what I can say is that for the price point, I'm blown away by the signal strength and the capabilities of the management software. It's really easy to create temporary networks for guests and even set them to expire after a certain amount of time. The GUI gives me all sorts of metrics (most of which I'll never use) so I can keep an eye on what's going ... MoreI hadn't bought a new wireless router in at least fifteen years. I had to replace an aging and mildly malfunctioning Linksys WRT1900AC.I wasn’t ready for my full network router and access points set up yet, but I needed something. This little guys was getting good reviews and was on sale so I took a chance. I was a little disappointed that it didn’t have automatic firmware updates and it seems a little wonky sometimes, but it was a heck of a lot better than my old Linksys.Fast forward to after a few firmware updates and it now updates itself like so many other routers, it’s rock solid and hasn’t failed me once. While I haven’t challenged it with really long distances by itself, when the time comes, I just may keep this as the backbone for my home mesh and it’s singular performance over distance won’t matter terribly ... MoreI had to replace an aging and mildly malfunctioning Linksys WRT1900AC.I wasn’t ready for my full network router and access points set up yet, but I needed something. This little guys was getting good reviews and was on sale so I took a chance.
