Great replacement to my 2-stroke petrol line trimmer. I love how theres no feeling of will it start. It just works and has plenty of power.It's very light. I no longer get a forearm pump like I used to with my 2-stroke line trimmer.

I was a bit skeptical whether the 18v would be enough power and now that I have it I do not know what I was worried about. This machine is easy to use and quite and doesn't use too much power. Glad I purchased it.

This is a perfect light weight trimmer that I can manage to do tidying up work around trees etc. I have a number of other one+ gardening tools and the batteries fit this one. And it’s a great price.
My wife found the petrol trimmer too hard to start and mix the right fuel. The Ryobi 18v line trimmer was originally bought for her however it was not long before I switched over to using it - literally changed my life. Doing edges is just so easy and quick! Love it.
I had finally had enough of battling my two stroke whipper snipper, trying to make the temperamental gadget start. My wife suggested I get the Ryobi.Easy to assemble and very easy to wind the cutting line onto.I set it up for the recommended lower speed and tackled the back yard, and footpath. This line trimmer took care of the edges in the well kept, manicured back yard no problems, but found it tougher going out on the footpath. The thicker and slightly wilder front required me to put the trimmer onto the higher speed setting. It managed the job, without any major problems, albeit taking slightly longer.Over all, the convenience of the battery powered trimmer has won my approval.
Awesome tool, performs very well. Can trim the lawn edges and hard to reach places of a medium to large size front and back yard with one 4Ah battery. Light and quiet too. Worth the money.
Got this as my old petrol one leaks and I didn't want to spend money on fixing it (8yrs old)This Line trimmer was A BEAST... and destroyed everything in it's way...(Yes you do need to go side to side like all trimmers and my grass hedge I had to go up/down also lol.)I got the following:Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP™ 33/38cm Whisper Brushless Line Trimmer - Tool Only [R18XLTR30]and alsoRyobi 18V ONE+ 9.0Ah Lithium+ HP Battery(As it's HP and would talk to it and put out more power when needed - This is what HP should do)I used my old 5Ah and got around 20min (Full Speed) (The 9Ah needed to charge overnight.)I finished the job off the next day with the 9Ah (Cant recall total time but did ALL and also edging and blower also... It was A powerhouse and great investment but ... The worst snipper I have ever had.Powerful, great for cutting overgrown areas. That's where it ends.Talking about grown, if you are shorter than 175cm, such as my wife, forget about it.The min length of the shaft is so long that if you are any shorter, you'll find it very difficult to use.The head cannot be angled in any way.Edging, forget about it.The spool / housing that contains the wire is so thick, plus the auto feed at the bottom, it makes it impossible to do any proper edging.To do any sort of edging you'll have to hold the snipper in such an awkward angle, i.e. completely vertical, to get any edging done, and it still looks like a dog's breakfast.Whilst doing that, you have to be careful that the housing doesn't hit the ground, well, you ...
