Worked well. Filter box on back almost impossible to get on and off - a bit gimmicky rather than useful. Used for sanding ceiling in a few rooms. Put away for a couple of years and done next to no work before motor died. It was a replacement under warranty and was out of warranty. So replaced with a much better brand. Small domestic tool that died without having done enough work.

Easy to use. Has done a great job of my walls so far. I like that it was both options for velcro stuck sandpaper and traditional front and ralear paper clamps for other types. The variable speed option is also brilliant.Excellent value for money and follow up customer care. I will be choosing Ryobi products for the future.

I bought this sander about 2 months back to sand back a wooden sideboard and a wooden chest - both had been covered in polyurethane some years back - in order to paint both in a white enamel. My (very) old sander died last year. I thought that perhaps I should have spent a little more on another brand but this little sander did a great job. The sanding sheets supplied are simple to align & apply and swallow the majority of dust. The dust receptacle is easy to remove, empty and replace. The grades of paper are very useful for this type of 'at home' reno. I did clean up the build-up off the paper after each use because the sheets are pretty tough although I was careful not to damage them. I reused sheets and they are ready to go again when I need them. Stripped hardwood steps ok. Use paper with holes.I bought this to replace a cheaper one which didnt work. I was told by Bunnings assistant that unlike this, they had never had Ryobi returns. It certainly was much better at sanding hardwood with 40 paper.I couldnt get paper with right sized holes - the stop gap with small holes didn't really work but I used plain paper and drilled holes using the paper than came with the sander as a template and then the dust bucket filled up quickly.
The sandpaper doesn't hold in place. The holding arms are awkwardly located and the loading locations at front and back cause the sandpaper to tear away from the sandpaper at the spots where they're held in place. This was a frustrating and cumbersome purchase.
I brought this and absolutely hate it! I can’t remove the plastic case and have to get my son or friend to do it for me. It’s hard to put the paper in as back area so close. Works ok but I had to go and buy another sander that actually is user friendly
Great sander - used to sand down plaster on gib and it worked a treat. Definitely cut down on time and helped preserve our energy levels on the project. It collected about 90% of the plaster dust, and the plaster dust case was easy enough to remove, empty out, and put back. Easy to use, too! Great for the price.
Performed exceptionally well. Never missed a beat while sanding a 45year old IRON Bark stair case back to bare wood prior to resealing. The capacity of the dust collector was a problem but as soon as I attached a Roybi wet/dry vacuum cleaner the job was a dream. It would be nice if you could get a coupler attachment to connect the vacuum and sander, duct tape worked fine but fiddly. This was a big job starting with 60grit finishing with 240grit.Very happy performed above my expectations.
Bought this yesterday and used it today. Overall this is a very, very bad sander. The paper holding system is completely useless, cheap and nasty, using a system of wires and clips that were so difficult to unlock that I broke my thumbnail before resorting to a screwdriver. The noise level is stunning - even using ear muffs I was deafened and my wife complained from the other end of the house. The "dust collection" system is a joke. After sanding half a car it collected about a teaspoon of dust, the rest was distributed all over the garage. All in all, DON'T buy this piece of rubbish, it's completely useless.
I bought this sander to do small jobs including a dining room table top and small side deck. I only got as far as the dining room table - the vibration from the sander was really intense and made it impossible to hold. I ended up holding it by the cord and letting it snake around on its own. Luckily I called Bunnings to ask about a suitable sander for my small side deck and the vibration issue came up. I was told I could bring it back for a return or refund which I did. Rather than swap it for another one I bought a more expensive belt sander instead.
