Easy to fit and use, makes the job lot easier
I bought this just 2 hours ago as my original Expandit line trimmer head died half way through a large job. Got home, read the instructions thoroughly, mounted the trimmer on the power head and woosh!!! This thing is powerful. Ripped through the weeds 3 times faster than the old one. Rating 5Sadly one arm of the trimmer line (as supplied with the head) snapped off inside the head so the bump feed was ineffective. Problem number 1, the supplied instructions do not tell you how to disassemble the head. Anyway, fearing voiding the warranty I went ahead and disassembled the head and found that the line (as supplied with the head) had melted to the coiled lines in the head. All in all, it is terrific.
It’s a weak attachment and it wasn’t strong enough to handle the buffalo grass. I should’ve gotten a proper whipper snipper instead.
Fitted to my 2014, 2 stroke Ryobi curved shaft trimmer (still going strong) and completely solved getting under overhung bushes to trim long grass. In retrospect, I think that straight shaft trimmers are a better proposition than curved shaft models.In use, have also found that the trimmer head can be rotated 90 degrees on the engine power head, for better grass edge trimming.In other Ryobi reviews, some have complained about the supplied-line durability, however in my use, the supplied line has given exceptional life when trimming long grass and I often cut more than 50m without having to bump-feed. The line life is “adequate/competitive” when trimming edges (where the line is trimming grass but also contacting a hard edge like concrete). The Ryobi expand-it series is great. Having already purchased the brush cutter and pole saw, I only purchased this to replace my existing whipper-snipper that was in good working order. The Ryobi straight shaft whipper-snipper attachment has more power than my old one, and seems to feed better. Very happy!
great line trimmer, use it regularly for edging and trimming, stright shaft makes it easy to get into corners and other areas with low clearance that the mower cant go.
