Hi RyobiMy expectations of pole saw exceeded performance of saw. However saw is still use-full. Chain oiling is excessive and undercutting larger branches is not a recommended action for this pole saw. Overcutting branches is a breeze but requires a strong operator to control and hold saw aloft. My initial disappointment has changed to one of respect for saw when used within saws limitations.

Recently purchased this polesaw to lop palm tree fronds. Although it is heavy with extension added, it worked a treat . Can definitely recommmend for this purpose.

Recently purchased this Pruner to trim large branches which overhang our fence. Really pleased how easily this gets the job done. Easy to use, gets through thick branches and long enough to get to the high branches. Easy to take apart to store.

I purchased the 36v pole pruner a bit over 2 years ago. It's performance has been great and it has some serious cutting power. The downside is that the cutting power comes at the cost of having quite a heavy head that is exaggerated by the length of the pole. It's manageable, but can be tiring if you have a bit to do.The first section that houses the battery and trigger assembly could do with having the pole being a little stronger. Mine has started to bend (see images) just in front of the handle due to the weight of the head placing maximum force at this point. Now that it's started to go I think it will only be a matter of time before this section lets go altogether. Not sure if this tubing can be replaced or if this means the end for the whole tool. Now that it's started to go I think it will only be a matter of time before this section lets go altogether. Not sure if this tubing can be replaced or if this means the end for the whole tool. This would be a shame as the unit is still performing like the day it was purchased.Despite this design flaw I would still recommend the tool. It performs very well and I have gotten a LOT of use out of it. The average user my never develop the problem.Tip for buyers: 1. Consider moving the handle to the second section so if you have the same issue after a couple of years you may still be able to buy a section piece to extend the tools life. 2. Always have chain oil on hand. The head unit will need toping up before you run out of battery. 3. Store the head unit upside down as you always seem to get oil leak out in storage even if drained before storing.
Works really great out of the box, chain seems super sharp and prunes branches at a safe distance. The problems start when the single small bolt which holds the chain bar in adjustment keeps working loose. This allows the chain to jump from the bar and requires constant resetting. My big problems arose when I kept adding tension to this bolt to stop this occurring and stripped the thread. The chain bar should be fixed with at least 2 larger bolts.Disappointing as the product shows promise and the 36v gives lots of power
I was very skeptical that it could cut through the thick branches and found that it did an amazing job. I have purchased the lawn mower, the edge cutter, the wiper snipper and now the Pole Pruner. Just need more batteries :)
Love all my other ryobi stuff. But the head unit in this is not up to task.Mine is now stuffed, which I am not happy about. The piece of metal that regulates the chain tension is bent, so the chain just pops out. If I fix it so it doesn’t this causes the chain to be to tight and puts more pressure on it causing it to bend more.I noticed that I am not the first to complain about this
We purchased a Ryobi 36 V pole trimmer. Around 2 months agoWe use a six amp power, 36 V battery on the device. Our experience has been the battery will last no problem one hour easily with plenty to spareWe purchased the poll trimmer so we could access 3-4 meter high approx 100 mill branches the poll trimmer is able to cut these branchesIt has been reliable and efficient in its cutting Iwe definitely use the harness to Support the weight of the device on our bodyFinally, a word of caution when cutting a branch. It is important to anticipate where the branch will go when it drops because as it can swing and come down and hit you if you are not careful,I strongly recommend the purchase of protective eyewear because you are inclined to look up and dust will ... MoreWe purchased a Ryobi 36 V pole trimmer. Same as some other reviewers. My chain kept coming lose and I found the cause was the tension adjustment pin had bent. I searched for a replacement pin online to no avail. I contacted Ryobi who advised me to go to Bunnings for a replacement machine. I have now used the replacement machine for 10 mins of use without changing the tension from out of the box, which seemed about right, and suddenly the chain came loose, I have looked strainghtaway closely and can see new tension adjustment pin has already started the bending process.
Purchased about six months ago along with 36v chainsaw. I have used chainsaw multiple times with no issues - good product. Used pole pruner for the first time - jammed while cutting 25mm branch. Checked and found chain was loose (this was third cut). Bar adjuster had bent - repaired and reassembled. Oil keeps running out of resevoir - no adjustment. Unit is very flimsy and poor quality design compared to my other Ryobi tools. Safety harness is virtually useless.
