This tool set is such an incredible value. I think it was the best tool purchase I ever made. I needed several tools to complete a large dock project and didn't want to use electricity near the water. For this reason alone, I would recommend that every contractor get this set at this price. The reciprocating saw worked great for trimming 14 4x4 posts in the water, the impact driver made screwing down the decking a breeze, the circular saw had plenty of power to trim the decking for that final cut. The multi-tool was a great surprise that I didn't expect to use so much. It was key for removing all the lumber marks on the decking and for smoothing the ladder steps and posts. Great for any homeowner and a great value for any contractor to have as a backup set for use in any wet locations. I even had to use the cordless reciprocating saw to trim some 4x4 to fit in my car. It was great to have two battery packs in the set as I often used two tools at the same time like the drill and impact to countersink all the screw holes to prevent splintering, followed by the impact to screw in the decking. The flashlight was even a life saver when a bad storm took out the power one night. For this price, it's a great set to leave at your vacation home too! Thanks Ryobi.

Bought this morning and decided to try out these tools on a treated 2x4 to decide if they would be able to handle my work. 5-1/2" Circular Saw cut very well, did not cut all the way through on first pass had to make 2 passes. Max. cutting depth is listed as 1-9/16" which is technically the thickness of 2x material but in real life lumber sizes sometimes vary. Multitool cut better than my corded multitool (Using wood blade, have not tried it for sanding). Reciprocating saw cut as well as a corded saw. Using the 1/2" drill I drilled a hole through treated 2x4 with a brand new 1-1/2" spade bit and the drill stopped twice before I was able to complete the hole. Same with a 2-1/8" hole saw bit. So it will work for larger holes, you just have to go slow. The charger is a compact model, you have to bend over and peek to see the status lights. Also prone to tipping over. Of course brushless tools or higher voltage tools would give better performance but this set is affordable ($200 on sale) so it is a great value.

The drill works really well and the impact drives screws right through the wood or until the screw snaps off because it has so much power. I thought that the saw was going to be a joke because it is so small but with 1/2 inch plywood it cuts really well, it is just a little short on cutting all the way through a 2x4 but I have never adjusted it from the factory. I bet if I look I can find and adjustment to cut all the way through. The sawzall or reciprocating saw is a monster. I couldn't believe how strong it was cutting a couple of bolts off. The light is super bright and the batteries have allot of power. I am really happy I bought the unit. I really really love this kit.

Disappointing and lack for a better word: junk.
22 February 2021

I really wanted to like this set given the price point. I have had this set for a few years and it has been lightly used. The drill was the first to quit working properly. Driving screws into a deck couldn’t even be completed. The drill would just stop in the middle of driving. The impact driver was the only tool that has worked properly the whole time. The oscillating tool completely stopped working and I maybe used it a total of 15 minutes on trim (MDF) - yea, it died cutting a few pieces of MDF baseboard. The saw will not cut through a 2x4 without dying mid-cut using a 4ah battery. The recip saw still works but have only used a couple of times. I suppose the light still works, but have never used it for anything.I noticed Ryobi now has a brushless HP line that ... MoreI really wanted to like this set given the price point. I suppose the light still works, but have never used it for anything.I noticed Ryobi now has a brushless HP line that I thought may be worth a try, and the brushed tools may have been the cause of my set only lasting for a few jobs. However, the 5 piece for $399 is sold out and even if it were available, I’m not sure it would last. I have other products from Ryobi that I like (leaf blower, trimmer, etc.) and really didn’t want to switch battery platforms. Given the waste of money on my last set, I’m ready to pull the trigger and switch platforms. Buy once, cry once. Don’t waste your money on this garbage unless all you are doing is hanging pictures or small children’s products.I do not recommend buying this set. You’ll thank me later.

Factory warranty means nothing

The only thing good is the price. But I chose a wrong brand at the first place. The bundle worked fine during the first year, and started failing during the second year. I am just a diyer and used them may be less than once per month. The impact driver failed first, suddenly stopped spinning. I was lucky enough to get a replacement from home depot after several rounds of negotiations between Ryobi and home depot. Then the circular saw, made strange noise and could not cut anymore. I wasn't luck this time, home depot refused to take responsibility even Ryobi asked me to ask for help from home depot again. Home depot would charge me 30 bucks to repair this 50 bucks saw even it's still under manufacture warranty. It's just not a reasonable deal. First coming with a bag is a real plus when you have little space to store your tools. Second having two batteries (1.5 and a 4 ah) to start out with is nice and quick charging too. 18 volts and universal in many (some require additional or stronger batteries) of 225 Ryobi One+ tools is sufficient to get the job done.Third the design of the tools - the balance between weight of the battery and ease of use is very good. Each tool has a space to store one tool necessary for the device. The light is designed to fit the handle on a 2x4 and twist the light in any direction. This might be me getting used to it’s design having been my first keyless chuck. But it’s enough for me to give a 4 star instead of 5 rating.Do I still recommend these tools absolutely and I will buy more of them such as the Brad nailer, the orbital sander and trim router which will come in handy on future projects.

Great for homeowner

This set is great for the price. I think its meant for a home owner or even apprentice. As a contractor, i need something a little more heavy duty. Im sold on Rigid, and have been for 15 years. But the ryobi set, will get the job done. The only main issue i have, is with the batteries. 1, they dont charge at all when below about 15,20 degerees. I left them in my van overnight, tried to charge next morning, and it took a while for charger to accept them. 2, battery life isn't that great. Even with the 4 Ahr bat, i just didnt get the time i needed from the batteries. Again, if your a home owner, or use for light duty, the set is great, especially at 199.99 on sale, cant beat it.They just dont compare to a higher end tool, when used full time. I've tried alost every brand of cordless tool.Ryobi gets my vote for best home owner, light duty set or tool. For a contractor, or someone that wants to be able to put a little abuse on the tool here n there, and have batteies you can rely on, Rigid is my only choice. I like the rest, but I've put my 5 piece Rigid set thru hell, and its still going. Demolished a 2 story house, on 3 4ahr batteries, just kept dropping one in the charger, as another finished, and gutted the whole house. Not many peopele believe that, but the friends who were there, and helped on that job, seen it too. Im not saying Ryobi is a bad tool, it's actually quite good, just made for a home owner.

Ryobi "Brushless" would have been maybe close to double the cost of these but I would have lighter tools with better battery life. That being said, for a homeowner, weekend warrior, or the like they (the 'brushed'/NOT-brushless) even for a mild maintenance guy (or gal) ARE a VERY great value, have a large medley of tools that can use the same battery (which is WHY I WENT WITH THEM). Batteries and chargers are readily available in a medley of sized and charger types. This also includes the same batteries can go on the brushless if I upgrade to them in the future. Gota get the correct belt clip for them though. The idiots at Ryobi had me get the wrong bent steel belt clip that works well but to make it fit on the tool I ended up having to grind down a washer & a nut to fit inside the spot the clip is supposed to go. The correct clip is more of a coat-hanger (steel wire) material that spring-clips into the base of the couple tools it can go in. Correct clip super easy install but also at least looks a whimpy if you drop or even lean on the tool by mistake. Wish i didn't have to machine it to work but like the wrong clips way better than the wire ones. Bonus, I got to use my other 18v tools to make it all come together:-) The bent steel clip I got performs VERY WELL in function and durability and comfort hanging there and confidence with it on your pocket or belt or tool belt etc that it won't just bent and fall off or such. I only saw 1 place to get the 'correct' clip it was 3 or 4 times the price per piece AND it said it was 4-6 weeks for delivery. It blows my mind that you can NOT get the correct belt clip ANYWHERE; not from depot (the seemingly exclusive seller of Ryobi) not from Ryobi, couldn't find it online:-(

Zero complaints, Great price

These tools have been exactly what I needed. The interchangeable battery between tools has been handy in swapping quickly between tasks. Among other odd jobs so far, I've built a deck using only these tools, a hammer, and a mitre saw and they've been perfect. The battery lasts especially long with the drill and impact driver. Less so with the circular saw, but that's to be expected. The circular saw has been used to rip full lengths of 2 x 6 x 12s, and though it is small, it cuts through those lengths with ease. The recip saw is powerful enough for quick jobs and the multi-tool seems to cut *anything*! I haven't had a use for the flashlight and wish the set would have come with a small orbital sander to replace my corded one instead. Perfect set for a starter kit ... MoreThese tools have been exactly what I needed. The interchangeable battery between tools has been handy in swapping quickly between tasks. main battery DOA or dead on arrival... we got this set for my dad due to its weight, funny thing, it wasn't the small battery but the one+ that will commence a series of nightmares...first the battery was working properly while installing a framed double glass door... and on the most crucial point of installation... it stopped working.oh boy, this door are heavy and cannot be let just sit there at this point or the door will fall... I ended holding the door while my sister drives to her home to get her Milwaukee drill. We put it to charge... the battery showed that charged after 24 hours... and didn't sent any energy to the tools of the set... or my neighbors when we asked... we read about crystalization and tried the small charge tactic many say online... ... Moremain battery DOA or dead on arrival... we got this set for my dad due to its weight, funny thing, it wasn't the small battery but the one+ that will commence a series of nightmares...first the battery was working properly while installing a framed double glass door... and on the most crucial point of installation... it stopped working.oh boy, this door are heavy and cannot be let just sit there at this point or the door will fall... The set is worth it only if the batteries work.
