A Great Little Grinder.

(Hence only 4 stars) There is a lovely feature that once you have set the required grind time you can stop during the grind momentarily to do a tamp and then continue the grind to complete the set time. Unfortunately for me that after just under 10 seconds this delay ends and resets to the full grind time.10 seconds is not enough time to remove the basket, tidy/tamp and return to finish ... MoreThis is a good little grinder. This grinder has greatly improved the quality of my espresso pulls. I use a Breville Infuser espresso machine. After having tried an extremely high rated grinder which did not work and which I returned, I decided on the Breville Pro Grinder. Dialing in to find the correct grind setting is surprisingly easy and this is a credit to how accurate the grinder's setting wheel works. Although there is some residue left behind, the gram measurement for beans in grounds out is spot on 99% of the time. The grinder is relatively easy to clean and is fairly accessible. You will need to spend a minute. The counter profile of this grinder is nice and the machine is very manageable for my smaller hands. I enjoy this little beauty everyday and am finally pulling consistent shots. ... MoreThis grinder has greatly improved the quality of my espresso pulls. I use a Breville Infuser espresso machine. I was lucky enough to have been given this grinder for Christmas, and I can not believe how much it took my coffee to a different level. As with the coffee machine, the grinder is very intuitive, and I was up and running in no time. I had read about dialling in and was not too sure I would be able to get it right...in reality a lot of it went over my head...I just wanted to get a good cup of coffee. This grinder is so easy to use for a complete novice. Beans went in and I was away. I have the bambino and was excited to be able to graduate to the normal filter baskets. I set the grind at 14 and tried it out. The coffee was amazing. Good Grinder - First unit failed. Second unit sounds like bag of nails.
26 July 2023

Great looking grinder, good features. Functionally does a good job of grinding coffee. I can dail in good espresso without using pressurised portafiliter on finest setting without needing to adjust burrs on Bambino. Also works well for coarser grind such as V60 or aeropress.First unit failed within a few months, I assume it was the gearbox that went as the motor continued to spin but the blades would not. Was sent an exchange unit which was nice. The burrs are all removable which is good.Replacement unit works fine but sounds like a bag of nails compared to the first unit which was very smooth. I do worry that the replacement will not work as long as the original!

I bought this together with the Bambino Plus as an upgrade on my previous budget coffee equipment. From my research I was aware that there are better grinders out there for espresso but only if you spend a lot more.Overall I’m really pleased with the smart grinder pro - plenty of grind settings, it goes fine enough for espresso, it’s easy to use, fast and not too loud. It’s really convenient being able to set and save my preferred grind time and that it can do a dose for one or two cups automatically. There are just a few slight shortcomings:- it’s very messy as the coffee overflows out of the portafilter basket. I remedied this by buying a clip-on dosing funnel elsewhere for under a tenner. This is such a huge improvement for relatively little cost, I don’t ... MoreI bought this together with the Bambino Plus as an upgrade on my previous budget coffee equipment. This is such a huge improvement for relatively little cost, I don’t know why sage don’t just include it- sometimes the amount of ground coffee you get out is inconsistent, even with the same beans, grind time and grind size the output can vary by a few grams- the grind size adjustment nob is a bit inconsistent and sometimes there are audibly two clicks when turning it but the number on the screen only changes by one, other times just one click. All in all though I’m very happy with it and hope it’ll last a long time.

Good grinder for the price - some nice design touches

Seems to be popular for good reason. For the price, this produces a nicely consistent grind size. The manual definitely needs to be read fully for the user to get the most from this and to understand the control interface. The attachments, that use magnets, are very well made and are a nice touch.Does what I bought it for at a good price. This was successful and my grinder's screen is no longer annoying me. :-) This is very unlikely to happen to others, but I think that Sage's quality control should have picked that up before the product left the factory.]

Great Beginner Home Barista Grinder

The espresso grind was pretty consistent. At first having difficulty dialing-in the grinder using the origin coffee. But once you got it dialed-in pulling espresso shot with my sage bambino is a breeze. Got a very good tasting coffee. Got my settings for inner burr at 3 and outer burr for 20. The only thing a bit off for me was the coffee retention and the timing on how long you gonna grind for your desired weight (17g). But this was easily solved by buying a silicon bellows from amazon to make a single shot grind every time. Just need to set the timer a bit longer then top the bellows. For cleaning you need a vacuum to suck all the coffee inside the and use the brush provided. Impressive grinder

Very impressed with this grinder: attractive design; user-friendly controls; 60 grind settings ( on the face of it that might seem a bit OTT, but the graduated spectrum offers a wonderful scope for finding the grind setting for different types and methods of coffee making ); adaptors for both 54 and 58mm portafilters is a nice touch; a neat container for larger amounts of coffee. It’s also mess-free and very easy to clean. I could have done with a means of knowing how many grams of coffee I was dosing the portafilter with, but that’s a minor quibble: I don’t think grinders other than Grind By Weight ones are capable of doing that.

Bought a Smart Grinder Pro as part of the Dynamic Duo package, and whilst I'm in love with the Dual Boiler, the Smart Grinder I am a lot less in love with. Everything was fine until I started using lighter roast beans and the grinder started jamming up and making a god awful noise like it was trying to grind pebbles. Apparently this is an issue with the Smart Grinder Pro as I've seen others post similar problems on various forums. After thoroughly cleaning it out (it was barely three months old so not too bad) the problem repeated itself. In fact I can only get this flipping thing to grind unless I grind coarsely OR use more conventionally roasted beans. I've instead replaced it with a better grinder that doesn't care whether my beans are light roast or not and I'm ... MoreBought a Smart Grinder Pro as part of the Dynamic Duo package, and whilst I'm in love with the Dual Boiler, the Smart Grinder I am a lot less in love with. Versatile well made Grinder
23 May 2023

I have had this grinder for a few weeks and I’m still getting to know its abilities. It is well made with a pleasing combination of stainless steel and high quality plastic and feels reassuringly heavy. An excellent user interface makes it easy to use. I have only used the finer expresso settings, around 8- 10 and have had good results, though it did seem to be under load when grinding some light roast beans. If the intended use is only expresso grinding at fine settings then a more powerful dedicated machine maybe warranted but this would be at a significantly higher price point. Overall I’m very happy with my purchase and it represents good value.
