The touch screen is simple and easy to navigate making the whole coffee making experience a joy. Not only can you adjust the amount and strength of coffee you would like but you can also adjust the texture and heat of the milk that you would like in your coffee. The milk frothing steam wand is massive upgrade from my old machines…… the metal jug sits on a sensor that helps it make the most perfect milk, the wand only works when in the correct position and firstly textures the milk to the required texture then heats it up to a max of 75ºc. And my favourite part of the steam wand is that once it is finished texturing your milk and you have wiped it clean it completes a cleaning phase which ensures that there is no milk residue in the wand…. This is a major thing as the milk can end up clogging the wand and disrupt the way it works. As with all Sage barista’s you get a cleaning kit to help you keep on top of it.All in all if you are looking for a top top quality coffee maker this one is a must that I can only wholeheartedly recommend.

I purchased the machine as I wanted an inbuilt grinder and machine to fit into the available height on our kitchen workspace, so I was limited in choice by the height available between our work surface and wall cabinets. The machine is an upgrade from a fully automatic bean to cup machine to one which I could experiment with manually e.g.- different grind settings and variable brewing times and learning to manually steam milk, with the option of adding & saving my preferred settings for my preferred drinks in the touch menuand yet which still offered:- some automation (touch menu has some pre-installed types of drinks, with preset brewing, automatic milk steaming, if wanted, etc so that my wife (who does not like to drink coffee) could still make some drinks for ... MoreI purchased the machine as I wanted an inbuilt grinder and machine to fit into the available height on our kitchen workspace, so I was limited in choice by the height available between our work surface and wall cabinets. The machine is an upgrade from a fully automatic bean to cup machine to one which I could experiment with manually e.g.- different grind settings and variable brewing times and learning to manually steam milk, with the option of adding & saving my preferred settings for my preferred drinks in the touch menuand yet which still offered:- some automation (touch menu has some pre-installed types of drinks, with preset brewing, automatic milk steaming, if wanted, etc so that my wife (who does not like to drink coffee) could still make some drinks for visitors if I'm not at home.In that regard it is a good purchase and machine. However, if you want to experiment further to improve the machine, it is very easy, but then your expenditure increases!...I started to prefer single dosing and so purchased a single dose hopper, 'anti-popcorn' weight, and bellows from Etsy, to go along with my purchased weighing scales - these really improved the constancy of each shot;I also purchased a bottomless portafilter, dosing cup and funnel so I could see how good my shots were 'extracting',I also purchased an IMS shower screen, and IMS filter baskets - THESE REALLY IMPROVED and transformed the quality and taste of the extracted coffee shots and I would strongly recommend these to everyone with one of these machines. The IMS baskets and shower screen allow water to flow through the shot and extract the coffee so much better than the standard ones.Overall, I am pleased with the machine... but because I have now caught the coffee habit, I have already (after just 6 weeks of having the barista touch!) bought a 'proper' espresso machine and a separate grinder - meaning that if I had realised and known how much I would like to experiment and enjoy coffee, I probably wouldn't have bought the barista touch as the new machine and grinder (Lelit Bianca, and Eureka ORO) make coffee so much better - but at nearly 2.5 times the cost. So if you are like me, bite the bullet and spend more money FIRST if it's affordable for you.Do I regret buying the barista touch? Possibly not, we'll keep it as a second machine, or sell it, time will tell. However, for anybody who just wants to press buttons and be content with how it performs, the Barista Touch is a good machine. It was the IMS shower screen and baskets that told me how it could be improved and I would strongly suggest that any buyer fits these.

I purchased this about 4 weeks ago after researching bean to cup coffee machines for quite some time. The machine itself is stunning to look at and really has the wow factor without being overly flashy. It fits the aesthetic of my kitchen really nicely which I am pleased about (my coffee corner is complete!). The screen is so helpful, especially since I’m not as good at making coffee as I think I am. The options are endless! I love how you can personalise your own coffee and save it. The screen has also been helpful during initial set up as it tells you exactly what to do and takes you through step by step. The only niggle is that it is so difficult to get your espresso right! This isn’t a fault with the machine at all but it just isn’t for someone who just want to ... MoreI purchased this about 4 weeks ago after researching bean to cup coffee machines for quite some time. This isn’t a fault with the machine at all but it just isn’t for someone who just want to press a button and not have to think about whether the extraction time was good etc. (I’d recommend the sage nespresso line for that). It does take some getting used to and it was difficult trying to figure out what ‘dialling in your beans’ meant or making sure the ‘tamper’ was correct etc. However, once you get it right, it is SO worth it (and better than Nespresso as a result). Overall, stunning design, impeccable machine and such a great investment.
Honestly, this machine is a work of art. From design to performance, it exceeds all my expectations. It produces brilliant results regardless of experience and that is what I love about it. The touch screen is brilliant and very easy to navigate around with. It is very user friendly and the built in guide helps you every step of the process to achieve that perfect cup of coffee. It is extremely customisable with hundreds of options ranging from brew temperature, grind size to froth levels and so much more. I love how individual drinks can be saved with multiple preferences so next time its just a matter of loading it up with a single click. Every single part has a solid build and provides a premium feel the moment it’s used. The beautiful design and quality is instantly visible the moment its unpacked.Ive put through it a few hundred drink so far and each and every one has been perfect. Ive not ran into a single fault and it runs as smooth as it did day one. If you’re like me and want a machine that can produce brilliant results at the click of a button without being locked to pods, you cannot go wrong with this machine, yet at the same time if you have time to get creative you can customise your drink with hundreds of different variables. This machine will not let you down!
Sage touchThe Chrome and brushed steel looks stylish whilst having a touch screen means the appearance is rather pared down and sleek compared with other machines with buttons and pressure dials. It wasn’t until after set up I realised the touch screen would actually take you through a step by step setup.Whilst unpacking, there were lots of additional items, filters, cleaning products etc. and I was initially concerned about where they would all be stored. It wasn’t until after set up I realised the touch screen would actually take you through a step by step setup.Whilst unpacking, there were lots of additional items, filters, cleaning products etc. and I was initially concerned about where they would all be stored. After doing the man thing and later reading the instruction manual I discovered that there was a hidden drawer behind the drip tray which is roomy enough to accommodate all the extra items included. It is a very thoughtful and well designed addition. The touch screen display takes you through all the regular coffee types that you might wish to get at any of the well known coffee shops. Each step of the process from grinding your own beans to pouring the coffee and then frothing the milk is adjustable through touch screen menus. There is also the opportunity to add drink types by creating your own combinations of any of these features. The warming up Period of two to three minutes means the machine is ready to go incredibly quickly. You can adjust the coffee grind to your own specification and also adjust the timing for how much ground coffee is delivered to the portafilter. There are lots of little features that I’m discovering as I go along but what I do like is the attention to details such as the self cleaning steam wand and the touch off and on ground coffee delivery which weren’t immediately apparent. This coffee machine is slightly larger than others that have I experienced for domestic counter top before, but not as expensive as those that you would get in a regular coffee shop yet it delivers the combination of facilities that means you can experience the same range of drinks. The touch screen home function also provides a home range of cleaning, descaling features, adjustments to each of the items, guides, menus and demonstrations. The settings icon also takes you through cleaning descaling and other range of adjustments meaning that the whole package is an easy step by step walkthrough creating coffee just the way you want it.Small gripes are a rather unusual opening lid on the water tank which took a while to work out. Also because of the size of the machine if it’s against the wall at the back of a counter top, whilst it lifts off easily, the tank is quite a reasonable size.I wish I had known on opening the original packaging about the walkthrough features for setting up the machine which could have usefully been printed on the lid of the box to let you know that feature was there to help you.All in all this is a very adaptable yet user friendly and attractive addition to the modern kitchen. The RRP is perhaps a little way off reach of the average household but for the real coffee lover and home barista this offers all the facilities that you could get with much more expensive machines.
The machine overall is great as far as making a decent freshly ground cup of coffee is concerned. The digital display is a nice touch and once you work your way around the settings, it's dead easy to use.Hopefully this isn't the same for all of the machines but unfortunately, I've experienced several technical issues that warranted a replacement despite how good the machine is/Sage as a brand. The first is the Power button sometimes doesn't work as in, you press it, it beeps, but doesn't switch on. The machine tells you it needs changing so again, may be a fault in the machine or the water filters aren't as long lasting as described.Lastly, we've had no end of problems with the steamer wand. Despite cleaning the machine every way including the wand, often it won't reach the desired temperature OR stops half way through saying it needs cleaning. It happens frequently and is really frustrating.Sage have been pretty tiresome to deal with and after eventually sending the machine back to receive a brand new replacement, the replacement has a damaged water tank straight out the box.As I say, hopefully my experience is isolated but if I encounter the same problems with the new machine, unfortunately a refund will be in order.
We've had our Barista Touch now for almost two years, so here's what we've learned. When it was removed from the box, the first machine had a large scratch across its fascia, which didn't reflect well on quality control, but JL replaced it within 24 hrs. Since then it's been fantastic! If you buy quality coffee beans from independent roasters, take time to learn how to operate the Sage correctly and practice your latte art, you'll achieve results that are far, far better than any of the high street coffee chains. The Barista Touch allows you to adjust all the essential settings and then save your preferences. This means that you can do it all manually, like a barista, or just push a few buttons and still get a delicious coffee. So if someone in the household is not into the art of creation, they can still benefit with great results.A couple of points to note. You need to tamp the grind (which is an art in itself), and several other actions, so it is definitely not a one-touch bean to cup. Also it takes a few minutes to make one coffee. That's fine individually, but if you're catering for a large group it can be a hindrance. You'll also benefit from buying a dosing ring, to minimise spillage when grinding the beans. Something that Sage have recently added to their list of accessories. On the flip side, this machine could revolutionise your mornings (and you'll find that your friends all want to come round to yours for coffee!)In summary, if our machine packed up tomorrow I would definitely buy another, the coffee it makes is that good!
This is a smart looking machine, it feels like a "quality" appliance. Things can get a little messy though when the coffee grinds spill out and over the portafilter during the auto grind cycle and, in particular, when the steam wand runs a clean cycle after frothing milk. Overall I'd say coffee making can be a fairly messy process and warrants a regular wipe down after every couple of cups to keep the work area tidy but I guess if you want "no mess" then you should buy a simple pod machine and be done with it. Apart from that I'd recommend you do your research before you commit and buy a Sage machine. I didn't realise that Sage was connected to Breville. Apart from that I'd recommend you do your research before you commit and buy a Sage machine. I didn't realise that Sage was connected to Breville. After I'd bought mine I noticed an identical Breville machine on the shelf at my local Currys store. It was advertised at half the price of the Sage and I couldn't really see what the differences were; same stainless steel body work, built in grinder, steam wand, 9-bar pressure etc., etc., so it left me wondering whether or not I had spent more than I needed to to make a decent cup of coffee and to enjoy the DIY barista experience. Finally, I've just ordered my first replacement water filter and descaler pack from Sage at a total cost of £30. Personally I thought that was quite expensive. I live in a hard water area without the benefit of a water softener so this is going to be a regular quarterly expense. I guess you have to accept and acknowledge that if you want to own and run one of these machines the cost of quality beans, spares and regular cleaning and descaling consumables will all add up and the running costs will be high. Overall though, I'm quite pleased with the purchase even though I haven't yet mastered the art.
I’ll add a bit, though. I used to be in the RN (22 years) and then the MN (7 years) and we just didn’t have coffee machines in those days - I’ve been ashore for for 40 years now and having had several machines since graduating from the instant I developed a taste for in those years at sea, moving up a not as each broke down. This one, I consider and She Who Must be Obeyed agrees, is the best yet.I took the option of free extras for it, of the dosing funnel and some sample beans. I found the grind really too generous and wanted quite a lot of beans before I was satisfied I’d got it right for each of us by, initially adjusting the amount, down, then the grind, a bit finer and then the amount again, up a touch. One thing puzzles me, though. A product I nearly went for - the Puck Sucker - I felt would possibly improve my use and be less messy than the knock box I already had. Nearly went for it but noticed in time that there isn’t a version of it for this machine. Why on Earth not? And why the pointers to an incompatible accessory?
