I was looking for a shoe to fit as well as the Salomon speed cross six. For me this is not it. After trying different insoles this is still just not the shoe for me. Wish I would have returned them instead of trying different insoles to get them to work.There is plenty of room in the toe box and room in the top of the tongue for the lace which is nice. They also seem to be pretty durable. Unfortunately, just not the shoe for me.

The XA PRO3D shoe has been literally all I've worn for at least 9 years. Originally I purchased a pair because of plantar fasciitis which was resolved due to this shoe. They provide arch and heel support, have superb traction on variable surfaces, have a convenient lacing system, and are a topic of conversation with total strangers! I'm a walking advertisement for Salomon XA Pro3D really! I know the colors catch people's attention but it's the comfort that's important to me. I wear them daily-all day long-walking, working out, around the house, working, hiking, EVERYTHING!! Size 8 has been consistent for me during the 9 years. One pair last about 6 months which averages 900+ miles. A spare pair always sits in my closet ready as a replacement.

I love these shoes, they are my first pair of Salomon outdoor sneakers. These shoes are very light and feel very comfortable on my feet. Being a new pair of shoes, there was little difficulty getting used to them, I put them on very easily and they felt very comfortable. I had some confusion in choosing the shoe size, my foot length is 23cm at first I didn't know whether to choose 6 or 6.5, but according to the instruction I chose 6.5. I felt half a size bigger in wearing them, but considering that I will be wearing thick socks for hiking and that my toes will be on top of the front part of the shoes when I am going down the slope, I feel that choosing half a size bigger is still very right. I've been buying this line of trail runners for well over a decade. Loved the first few iterations and recommended them to many friends/co-workers who were equally happy, but over time the design seems to be moving toward mediocrity. I do like that the fit is reliable and the soles aren't bulky; colours are not flashy, which I also appreciate. I don't like that the laces seem to be getting increasingly longer and the pocket to tuck them in doesn't align anymore (I end up cutting the loop to shorten the excess lace). The toe box on these shoes is really hard and I've found the last two iterations of the XA PRO to be *very* sweaty (and these *aren't* the GoreTex version). I think next time I need trail runners it may be time to try a different brand.
Bought last week and not waterproof. Soaking feet and socks when only walking through wet grass on a suburban footpath. Much wetter than ordinary joggers. Very disappointed and will be returning ASAP. I have had several pairs of salamon hiking shoes before and current ankle boots also and never had a problem before. Waterproofing is essential for long hikes.
There are really cute style and they are comfortable to run in, but they’re a little bulky for trails if you are trying to be nimble. These will definitely have a place in my hiking shoe rotation, but I’m going to keep looking for something to replace my current trail running shoes. I bought these a half a size larger than my normal street shoe size, but I should have stuck to my normal size because they run big! For reference, I normally size half a size up for running shoes.
I’ve recently purchased XA Pro 3D V9 and really enjoy them for trail running. I chose this for several reasons: the back of the heel is rigid enough to make ankle feels stable, material is sturdy and protects my feet when stepping on roots/rocks, and convenience of Quicklace. I had callous on my arch after my first two runs with these shoes but was fine after that. Probably should’ve walked in them for a bit before.Size 7.5 fits well for me and I normally wear this size for other shoes.
These are the only workout shoes I can wear and this is the only model that supports my flat feet and offer enough stability. I wear orthotics because I have very flat feet. I wear these for everyday for walking, elliptical, hiking, boxing, working out etc. I just wish this model had more color selections and pattern. Whenever I see a color I like, I buy them and save until current one needs replacing. I must have 12 pair and currently wear 4 depending on my outfit. I can not wear the unisex style because they are too wide and floppy. Hopefully, Solomon will keep making women’s sizes. Sizing down in unisex or men’s is not the answer.
I will be hiking the Camino (15-18 miles/day) later this summer and decided to try the XA Pro 3D. The footbed is comfortable except for the skinny string laces. This style of lace does not distribute tension well and creates hotspots on the top of my feet. Unfortunately, all of Salomon’s women’s hiking shoes offered this season, with the exception of the Elixir, have the string shoe laces so I will be looking elsewhere for new hiking shoes.
I have worn the XA PRO 3D for decades, through several iterations/models. It has ALWAYS been available in a size 12. Now along comes the newest model, the V9, and suddenly the sizing only goes up to an 11. Why? This is the only hiking shoe that fits me (not just among Salomon, but among all brands). I buy 2 pair a year and have worn this model for decades. Women's feet are getting larger on average, not smaller. And I can't just buy the men's version - they are too wide for me. Please begin making this model in a women's size 12.
