I have used a number of kitchen scales and find this the most responsive I have used.It is very easy to store, propped vertically against a surface, so it takes up no surface space until it is used.Baking is easy because the ingredients can be placed in one container (depending on the demands of the recipe) and zero-ed efficiently. If you are baking bread, the ingredients are added to the bowl, in minutes, ready for kneading either by hand or with a mixer. The responsive zero button is very helpful for adding ingredients. It is also very simple to add small quantities on the separate part of the scale..The scale is easy to keep clean - just a quick wipe with a damp cloth. The digital display is very clear.I really enjoy using this scale.

Bought this as I didn’t want to buy 2 sets of scales (precision scales and standard scales) so it made sense to me and the fact that they are two sets of scales in one unit is fantastic.I have had it a week or so and have used both scales simultaneously already, it has stopped me from having to weigh one item, remove it, reset the scales and weigh my second item, I can do them at the same time. I didn't realise how annoying that was until I got these scales. Also why do a lot of scales not have a back-lit LCD? I didn't realise how this one seemingly insignificant feature makes this product so much better. As again I have never had this feature before and I didn't realise how annoying a non lit display was.For me it is well worth the price/investment, as I can ... MoreBought this as I didn’t want to buy 2 sets of scales (precision scales and standard scales) so it made sense to me and the fact that they are two sets of scales in one unit is fantastic.I have had it a week or so and have used both scales simultaneously already, it has stopped me from having to weigh one item, remove it, reset the scales and weigh my second item, I can do them at the same time. This worked fine up until point I had to change the batteries. Then stopped functioning and their Salter customer support not interested - told me to go to an electrician. This hasn't even been on sale for 15 years so is clear it is under but they are not actually bothered about quality of their product.Better off buying one for a quarter of the price so at least if it breaks you haven't lost as much money. Regret purchasing as doesn't do anything more than standard scales and quality clearly no better.

I bought these for my husband for Christmas, and we were initially impressed with the dual function, however as per the other reviews, these don't accurately weigh. We had a bowl of oats and poured some milk, which started off at 147, then over the next few minutes steadily decreased as we watched by 2g increments down to 118. When we took the bowl off, which initially we had at Tare (0), it had gone down to -8. To compare, we redid this on our old Beurer kitchen scales, and the weight was exactly 150 (and didn't decrease). Disappointed and will be trying to return these to David Jones.
I've had a number of digital scales but was attracted to this one due to the dual scales. I confess, not being a fan of HB, i was put off by the name - but glad I went for it: I liked the 2 rectangle plates for weighing versus other similar scales that have a round one, as often i use rectangular pyrex dishes. And it's perfect for that. The main scale is a bit smaller than I hope (I went to a store to see it first but they didn't have it), but it's not a big deal. The mini-scale is indeed much more accurate than the main plate, measuring to .0 on weights but more importantly, is able to register light weight items like chopped nuts and spices. Finally, I really like the 'positive' buttons (actual buttons) for on/off, zeroing and changing units and also that - to ... MoreI've had a number of digital scales but was attracted to this one due to the dual scales. Fabulous scales for any kitchen. The large weight capacity is great when making large batches of jams and chutneys, and multiple cakes in one big pot. However… despite keeping the scales very clean and using them twice a week on average, the buttons have become stuck on Fl Oz (the least useful unit of measure) so are now pretty useless. This is my second set and the same thing happened to my first.
These scales appear to be highly temperature-sensitive such that if you weigh something warm, the initial weight displayed just keeps going up, and then if you put something cool in the scales the initial weight displayed keeps going down. E.g. I placed a bowl on the scales, zeroed them and added 90g of water at around 30C. The reading starts increasing and keeps going up at about a gram every 4-5 seconds or so. I lost interest at about 103g but it had not stopped increasing at that point. I do have a video of this but it's too big to upload. The scales I have are basically not fit for purpose.I've also had one occasion, which I see another reviewer had noted, where the scales just displayed random weights - changing every second or so. My in laws had an early set of these for bread making and we got scales envy. Theirs have never been any trouble. After quite a few years we we given a set and clearly the quality isn't what it was. We usually suffer from a 2g discrepancy in the reading (as in you put something on and turn round and by the time you turn back the reading has changed by 2g. It's quite frustrating but liveable with. Periodically, the scales throw a complete wobbler and everything on the screen lights up, followed by an E for error. At this point we invoke the reset instructions that are plastered across the responses to the one star reviews here and things seem to work ok again. In the meantime, my original Salter scales are still working perfectly and I have had them for over 20 ... MoreMy in laws had an early set of these for bread making and we got scales envy. The only reason for the Heston scales is the 1g resolution otherwise we'd give up on them.
Relatively happy with this product. Our last salter scales started playing up and so we decided to upgrade. The old set had lasted quite a few years and so we thought we'd stick with the make. I like the two 'plates' for small and large quantities and the slim design which makes it easy to store. My only criticism is that they are slow to respond. They take a few seconds (perhaps only 3 or 4) but this is enough to go over when you are slowly sprinkling on the last small amounts to reach the desired/required weight. This necessitates in having to get a spoon to remove the surplus - if you want precision, which does seem to be the point of these types of scales. It may not matter to many people. I am surprised at this aspect as it wasn't an issue with my last Salter ... MoreRelatively happy with this product. Our last salter scales started playing up and so we decided to upgrade. My wife gave this to me as a gift to measure out coffee for my espresso machine. When putting the portafilter on the larger scales, it is really sensitive to how you place it on the large scales. It can easily change 5 grams which makes it useless. The metal cap on the small scales just fell off and turned out to be only attached with some double sided tape.Furthermore the scales recently started to be incapable of just giving one (accurate) weight... The indicated weight slowly creeps up by about 1gram ever 2 seconds. This can go on for minutes! So what's the right weight? After our previous Salter also gave up within a few years, I would recommend not to buy this brand and certainly not this model.
