Samsara Eau De Toilette Spray by Guerlain - 30 ml
Jean-Paul Guerlain created Samsara for the woman of his life. His only indications were sandalwood and jasmine, which the "Lady of Samsara" particularly liked. Jean-Paul Guerlain travelled to India many times to acquire the purest sandalwood and a jasmine used only for religious offerings until then. Samsara is a sensual version of seduction for a woman who has found harmony and balance, which is notably conveyed through the composition's raw materials. It was at the Musée Guimet that Robert Granai found inspiration for creating the shape of Samsara. The bottle is flamboyant red, a sacred colour, which evokes through the fullness of its shape a statue of a Khmer dancer. The stopper echoes the shape of the eye of the Buddha, a symbol of meditation, which leads the way to supreme awakening. FRAGRANCE Woody Oriental. Harmonious, spellbinding, embracing. As Samsara takes flight, it enwraps us in jasmine flower, which dominates the scent, before sunny ylang-ylang flower embellishes it, the better to unite it with the radiant and generous warmth of sandalwood. Lastly, iris, tonka bean and vanilla harmonise and render sublime this blend with its remarkable trail.

I used this years ago as a young mum, my husband travelled and would bring home the duty free perfumes, I was so lucky I was able to try many, in different circumstances I would not have had the Chance. So Samsara has good memories for me. (For me it has a mix of spice and floral aromas, not heavy or sickly and the best bit is that can last with you for the whole day. I am so pleased to have been able to purchase from you and will by again. One very satisfied customer. Christina Christie I have always enjoyed my perfumes, like my mother and now my daughter and son of course he uses after shave just like his father

I have always used Samsara since it came out. The original bottle was dark red and had a gorgeous velvety scent which garnered many compliments. Unfortunately I've run out of the original and bought the new shaped bottle, believing it was the same as the original. It turns out it's totally different, to the point were I can't find any likeness at all to the original. I read somewhere that the EU have put restrictions on perfume ingredients as they 'might cause allergic reactions in some people. That might explain why many people are saying perfumes no longer smell the same. Many seem to have lighter fragrances and don't last as long on the skin.

I was pleasantly surprised by Samsara, it's a vintage style powdery resin-amber with some soft sweet peachy fruit and yellow floral nuance on the dry down that is pretty distinctive. I'm sure an older woman in my family used to wear this when I was young back in the 90's because it feels pretty nostalgic to me. I'll keep it in my collection for my op-shop outfit days. If you like bolder scents and have an affinity for vintage aesthetic definitely give Samasra a try.

I will start off by saying, Samsara is a timeless classic that I truly believe has a place in everyone's arsenal of fragrances. Samsara is truly a shining gem. This is the fragrance I pick up when I want to feel otherworldly and put together. The sandalwood truly shines and makes me feel as though I'm glowing from within. This pairs well with all kinds of weather as well. A fantastic all rounder and a contender for a more unique signature fragrance of that's what you seek. The newer bee bottle is actually on par with the vintage bottle in terms of sillage and longevity so there's no need to worry about that. A masterpiece.
Samsara is by far my favorite perfume of all time. Although the formulation has changed through the years and it is not as captivating as it was when it first came out, it's still one of my all time favorites.I perfume wardrobe is pretty big, going from Byredo, Jo malone, Frederick Malle, Serge Luten, Tiffany, Tom ford private collection, Bound n°9, Molinard and I have always gone back toSamsara. It is the only perfume that I am guaranteed to get a compliment everytime time I wear it. I hope Guerlain never discontinue it.
I haven't been happy since Guerlain discontinued the original Samsara. I check periodically throughout the years to see if by chance they have brought it back. Just from reading these reviews I know I will not be purchasing this perfume. I tried it before and it was not like the original. I started using the original perfume in 1988. It was my very special personal fragrance. I always got compliments wearing it. Now I am diminished and resigned to finding bootleg imitations of the original perfume because at least they keep it close to what the original fragrance smelled like. I will keep checking to see if it ever comes back. Hopeful to see the lovely burgundy bottle with gold cover with the slightly musky fragrance reappear.
Exotic with the creamy , incense-y sandalwood, and classic with the Guerlain signature nutty, spicy Tonka ,and powdery Iris.Looks as if it`d be strong, heavy, too "mature", but it can be very much a close skin scent, and sensual.I would recommend the younger demographic give this a try as an introduction into classic scents, more mature, and classic Guerlain - as there is no aldehydes, civet type notes, or oakmoss that might turn younger scent lovers off. There is a longevity on wear, all the day for me. So close of a wear on me, I can forget I am wearing until someone compliments . It actually surprises me at times, since this is a classic - but no big powerhouse - it can be such a natural , subtle, yet sensual without being overly voluptuous, and in your face ... MoreExotic with the creamy , incense-y sandalwood, and classic with the Guerlain signature nutty, spicy Tonka ,and powdery Iris.Looks as if it`d be strong, heavy, too "mature", but it can be very much a close skin scent, and sensual.I would recommend the younger demographic give this a try as an introduction into classic scents, more mature, and classic Guerlain - as there is no aldehydes, civet type notes, or oakmoss that might turn younger scent lovers off. There is a longevity on wear, all the day for me. The purpose of fragrance reviews is to describe a fragrance, how it worked for the individual as far as WHY the love/dislike, how the notes / silliage/longevity worked or did not. A Dislike can be as helpful as a Like. An "I love this perfume" vs " A horrible smell " does not help anyone without a description to the Hows and Whys. Personally,I would never purchase a scent based on non descript reviews that it`s your favorite, your husband loves it, everyone should have this, etc... etc... without more depth.

Jacques Guerlain's ode to the enjoyment of life and romanticism is expressed through this seductive scent with a fresh blend of bergamot, iris, violet and vanilla. Floral Oriental Endearing, Unsettling, Captivating The top notes of the fragrance sweeps you into the freshness of bergamot and the audacity of an aniseed note. The hearts carnation and neroli accord intoxicates with a little spice, a little freshness and a lot of sensuality. Most troubling is the powdery, oriental dry-down that gives LHeure Bleue its suave fragrance, in the powdery note of iris and violet, and the gourmand note of vanilla benzoin and Tonka bean. The perfume, enveloped in velvety warmth takes on a texture so soft and captivating, its like a silk veil on a womans bare skin. Eau de Perfume, is the second most concentrated and therefore a very faithful version of the pure perfume. Created to be in osmosis with the skin, it creates a unique alchemy upon contact with the skin and expresses itself differently on every woman. A few sprays applied on the inside of the wrists and elbows, at the base of the neck, at the roots of the hair or in the hollow of the dcollet will reveal their presence with the movements of their wearer and the passage of time without ever becoming overpowering. I spent 4 days in Paris with my husband it is by far the most romantic place we've ever been and it really is for 'Lovers', L'amour. LB is now my favourite fragrance, my new 'Signature' as wearing it brings back memories of 'love in Paris'. Try it you will love it.
The sprayer on the top of the bottle was different than i was used to getting, that the product sprayed out of the cap. All the other Samsarah i have purchased before had you take off the cap first . I eventually got the top to go on correctly before using it. Sprayed on well. Scent is beautiful! really nice and strong at first, but unfortunatley this time only last about two or so hours. I still have a little in another bottle that I purchased years ago at Macy's. But for some reason that one still last for 4 days? I think my older bottle is 15 or more years old. " I store mine in the fridge in summer."" And still lasts a long time, so not sure why this bottle only lasted 2 or three hours?? has a good shelf life compared to many out there. Thank you seller
Thank you to the seller. The box was sealed like it was brand new like i used to buy it in the early 90's, and ready to be opened by the recipient. The cologne scented really nice and strong enough at first. Not sure how long it lasted after falling asleep with it on all night long. Just about gone in the morning when waking up. Has an ok shelf life so i guess i will give it a 3 - 4 star rating. So wonderful to have. Thank you again
