Design: Nothing special or out of the ordinary. The stand being in the middle (instead of two legs) cause the TV to be not-level for me. Real depth and AI motion enhancer pro: excellent for gaming, general viewing, and upscaling older content. However, I’m not a huge fan of the ultra-smoothing look for movies and TV shows. Tracking sound pro: the sound is great—I use an external soundbar system and the sound is going to the right speakers at the right time. Great picture. Pros: Very bright. Videos and movies are very smooth, almost too smooth looking. There is not a lot of 8K content out right now, but what I watched on YouTube and Vimeo looked excellent. Also, games and movies (4K UHD discs) looked great on the PS5. Remote is nice and light, ergonomic—I recommend watching the tutorial (in settings) for the remote because there are a lot of shortcuts. Sound is adequate but I always use a soundbar or an external speaker system anyway. Cons: Somehow my TV is not level. I’m not looking forward to taking apart the stand and re-doing it, but maybe this was my fault, and this would not be an issue if I wall mounted the TV. The microphone came turned off, so I could not use the voice feature
it took me forever to find the microphone switch on the TV (it’s a tiny switch on the bottom right if you’re facing the TV) The TV is heavy, especially with the 3-piece metal stand and the external port hub. I just expected new TVs to be much lighter than the flat screen TVs 5+ years ago. Overall, excellent TV and none of the cons I mentioned really bother me. In my opinion, I would recommend going bigger, like 85” or greater for an 8K TV, so you can really notice the details.

Great screen, decent sound, meh interface
18 October 2023

The good news is the image is great. I give that a solid 5. I must caution you to properly calibrate the screen using their mobile interface or it will look less than great. I must caution you to properly calibrate the screen using their mobile interface or it will look less than great. Film mode is activated on certain content offerings which is nice. The voice activated commands rarely work as intended and the navigation is just not keeping up with the superior tech of the screen. The Alexa integration is more annoying than it needs to be and I can't seem to turn it off now that I activated it.Samsung has been pushing their Q Symphony and how their sound is awesome, well the sound is not great and MUCH worse if you keep your tv close to a wall. With their soundbar it is definitely better. If sound is important, you will be better off with third party components. I use a McIntosh system and it rocks, but then any one of those components cost more than the tv.As far as media servers and connectivity, I am not going to stream stuff from my phone on an 8k 75 inch TV. I wish they made it easier to deliver content from various places to the exceptional screen, but the software is clunky and not intuitive.Conclusion. The things I dislike about the software interface are not much better anywhere else. The screen is amazing and as far as sound, most people will be happy as long as they add the sound bar. Beyond that, no TV made can compete with a serious audio system by the likes of McIntosh and if you have the money the screen is worthy of sitting amongst 50K worth of audio. Can someone please tell Samsung to focus on their software interface.....

Our family living room has a 55 inch, 2018 model year OLED TV that we've enjoyed for many years now. Going from a regular LCD TV at the time to OLED was a massive upgrade, and it's hard to imagine how much better things could have improved?Installation is really easy after fitting the base to the TV. All connections to the TV go through the connectivity box included which means you can put that on a shelf on your AV stand. Then a single cable from that goes to your TV and keeps everything neat.Getting the TV up and running and set up with Satellite tuning takes only a few minutes using the on screen instructions and QR code. Then a single cable from that goes to your TV and keeps everything neat.Getting the TV up and running and set up with Satellite tuning takes only a few minutes using the on screen instructions and QR code. I prefer certain settings with my TVs with how colours and motion look so I spent some time on YouTube with 8K and 4K HDR videos as well as movie trailers to get things exactly the way I want.First impressions were just how BRIGHT this thing was. It's over and above my 2018 OLED in terms of brightness and on par with a flagship OLED we have in another room.It took me a few goes to get my settings to "stick" as a few of the quick and easy TV modes will set things back to defaults, but with a bit of trial and error I got the hang of what I could and couldn't change without it changing other settings. I'm not a fan of motion processing and I quite like film grain so some of those advanced settings I turned off entirely. However some of the automatic HDR and colour/contrast settings are definitely worth having on so there's enough in there to be really precise about how you want things to be set up. And if you just want to go with some "out of the box" settings then those are really easy to use.One thing that was immediately obvious was how much better the sound was over our old OLED TV. There is significantly more body to the sound and arguably you dont HAVE to go and buy a soundbar for this TV, unless you really want one.I can honestly say that the Samsung QLED looks amazing, and is a big upgrade over our older OLED TV. As a living room TV it makes the cartoons the kids watch on YouTube look fantastic, and then when switching to our streaming service apps that we installed directly from the Smart TV features, those look brilliant too.Samsung Neo QLED 8K has been a massive upgrade to our living room viewing. I tend to keep living room TVs for 5-10 years at a time and this has us covered for a long time to come with the 8K screen and every other modern feature you want. Buy with confidence!

Samsung Impresses Yet Again

Samsung never disappoints! The Samsung 65” Class QN800D Neo QLED 8K Smart TV has made my living room look like an upgraded movie theater! First of all, the picture! Wow! The picture has a great quality, it's super crisp and high definition leaving me feeling like the people are in my living room. The sound is good even in my open-concept living area. It sounds like I have a sound bar even when I'm not connected to a sound bar. I also like the small and simplistic remote that has a solar cell to improve operating time. Unboxing was a bit of a struggle as the tv is a bit heavy, but if you have two people that won't be an issue. We struggled a bit when assembling the stand. I like the One Connect box as you can have a cable free installation if hanging on a wall. The box also offers any and all ports one may need. Set-up was a breeze with Samsung Smart Things. It's an added bonus when I can use my phone to power on and off the tv in case the kids leave it on at night after I go to bed! Thanks Samsung for another amazing product!

This TV is replacing my 65" Samsung Q70AA QLED 4K UHD TV. I was able to get the TV unboxed and mounted in about 30 minutes and the setup took less than 5 minutes including getting signed into my various streaming accounts. It has an updated UI that is taking a little getting used to, but overall I would say it is an improvement. The UI is much more responsive, but it seems a little cluttered. The QN800D has a gaming hub that supports XBOX and Nvidia Geforce Now and allows you to directly connect an Xbox controller for gameplay. I have only had a chance to play Fortnite with my kid so far, but it seem to run at about the same quality as his Nintendo Switch connected to Samsung 4K TV. The sound on this TV is amazing as well. I have the QN800D paired to a Samsung Q910C 9.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar with Q-Symphony enabled and it makes the room sound like a movie theater. I need to get this setup for a few other rooms in the house.

We purchased the Samsung Neo QLED 8K QN800D 75-inch from the Samsung website. Once it arrived, we were impressed with the unboxing and our initial impressions of the model were positive, we both love how slim line it is. It took both of us to unbox and set it up, considering it’s a 75-inch it’s a lot lighter than older 75-inch TV’s, which is what you’d expect of modern technology, lighter, bigger, better! It was easy to mount with the stand that was included and to set up the ‘One Connect Box’, with just one cable for all of the connections and comes with two cables, a short one if you want to rest the box on the back of the stand or a long one in case you wish to place it further away from your TV. It comes with 2 remotes, standard remote and a new solar powered remote that charges with indoor light, so best to rest it solar panel up when not in use. The Infinity One Design with its nearly bezel-less screen looks great on the stand, however, we will be looking to mount it on the wall for all angle viewing and free up our countertop space. As a Hard of Hearing person, I was most anticipating the sound quality! So as soon as it was turned on we tested the sound quality and I was impressed. At the moment I am still using subtitles when available but after a bit more of a sofa drive, I will see if the sound has more clarity than our last TV.The picture is amazing, vivid colours and sharp details. The screen is anti-reflection which is a must for us our TV is in the sunniest place in the kitchen dinner, right by the sliders! And it works well.Samsung Neo QLED was a perfect choice for us for our kitchen diner as it links up with our American style family hub fridge! We have the Smart Things app, so it was easy to log in and register our new tv.This is not just a TV it’s an entertainment system all on one! Fitness & gaming for instance and you could immerse yourself all day discovering all the features. We’ve had it up and running for a week already so there is still a lot more to explore.

[Rewarded Review] Heavenly Picture, Hellish Firmware
13 January 2023

I had my eye on the QN800A for a long time and was biding my time, waiting for the price to come down. My current TV was a Samsung Series 8 1080p 3D TV that I bought in 2011. I paired that with a Yamaha RX-V777 receiver that drove my 5.1 sound system, complete with a 10-inch woofer. This system performed flawlessly over the years and made me an ardent fan of both Samsung and Yamaha. In order to get ready for the new Samsung 8K TV, I bought the Yamaha RX-A4A 8k receiver in mid December 2021 and quickly installed it on my current system, complete with 8K HDMI cable. I updated my Harmony 650 remote for the new receiver and everything worked great. Of course, my old Samsung Series 8 TV couldn’t take advantage of the higher resolution and other neat video capability that the RX-A4A produces, but I thought that, boy, the new TV (when I finally get it) should really be a smooth transition when I stick it in my system. Boy, was I WRONG!I bought the 65-inch QN800A 8K Samsung TV in early February 2022 and Best Buy delivered it shortly thereafter. They hung it up for me, turned it on, and set up the Samsung pairing remote to run both the TV and the receiver. I thought, boy, I don’t need my Harmony 650 anymore. Boy, was I WRONG!The day after it was installed, I turned on my equipment with the Samsung remote. TV came on, but receiver did not. I turned it on with the Yamaha controller. I tried to turn everything off with the Samsung remote and it worked. Turning everything on still did NOT work. Re-paired the Samsung remote. It worked for a day and then quit turning on the receiver again. Re-paired 2 more times, with same dismal results. Called Samsung and told the tech what I had done and asked him what to do. Person said to re-pair the remote. I sensed that this was going nowhere fast and ended the call. I looked at the Samsung user site, and people were having the same problem and the comments generally indicated that Samsung was not taking ownership of this problem. I asked the Best Buy Geek Squad what to do to fix the Samsung remote problem. The Best Buy rep told me to quit using it.I finally decided to rely only on my Harmony 650 to control my new system.Over time, additional firmware problems surfaced. My Yamaha receiver connects to the TV from its TV1 port via HDMI to the Samsung TV. Other Yamaha HDMI ports are used to connect signal generating devices that you want sent to the TV set. I used HDMI 5 for my ROKU, just like I did for my old 1080p Samsung (where everything worked perfectly!). I verified that my new Samsung TV was set up as follows;Sound output set to Receiver (HDMI)HDMI/eARC Mode set to offDigital Output Audio Format set to Pass-ThroughAnynet+ (HDMI-CRC is onRX-A4A Yamaha receiver is listed under “Smart Things” and is selected as “Source”Intelligent Mode is onReceiver was selected for sound outputWhen I turned everything on, it worked
. for a while. Then after a few on/off cycles, I pointed my Harmony at the TV, everything turned on, the Yamaha showed sound coming from the ROKU ULTRA on HDMI5, and the sound was coming from the TV speakers! I rebooted the ROKU and the problem went away
for a while. Then one day there it was again. Took same corrective action, and the problem went away. Then one day I turned everything on and got a picture but no sound at all! Rebooted ROKU and problem went away
. for a while. I finally bought a new ROKU ULTRA complete with rechargeable remote, hoping that would fix the problem. Nope, problem still there.I checked for firmware updates from Samsung and Yamaha several times. Yamaha notified me twice via the receiver that I had updates waiting, so naturally I told it to apply them. Keeping that particular piece of hardware up to date was a breeze. I never once heard from Samsung that I had an update available. I checked their website and found nothing newer than the firmware that came with the TV when I bought it.I mentioned my problem to the Best Buy Geek squad and told them that my wonderful new 8K Samsung does not seem to want to play nice with my 8K Yamaha receiver. The Geek Squad agent said that particular TV model doesn’t play nice with any of the receivers that they sell.I feel Samsung really let me down and I will never again buy a TV from them or anything else, including SSD for my PC or any other of their consumer products. I bought a 4K Blu-Ray player to use with my new TV. It was not a Samsung.
