Love this tablet, sleek, slim and extremely lightweight. Display is samsung quality! Very easy to use and understand once you start it up. The battery life is awesome! Lasts roughly 15 hours on a full charge. Not the best for anything other than media apps and games tho, functionality doesn't go far beyond that sadly. Great price for those wanting to find a great game tablet.

Like most tools and tech gadgets, you're going to have a bad time if you buy the wrong thing for your needs. This tablet should really be for media consumption, with its superb quad-speaker set up that rivals the iPad Pro series (ofc the iPP's audio has a slight edge, but think of the price). It's just ok for web browsing and other productivity apps, with its somewhat sluggish processor. Gaming can be ok, but ok should be about the best experience you will get. I bought this to use for school for things that I don't need a regular computer for. My primary use so far has been to read ebooks for class. It's easy to carry and take everywhere. I can also use it for accessing my classwork online and for word documents. No problem navigating the internet. It us android and does everything my phone can do, other than make calls, but the screen is larger for what I need. I bought a "Fintie Keyboard Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.5 2018 Model" to go with it. It is lightweight and basically turns it into a small laptop when I need one. While I do wish the tablet weighed a little less, it is not too heavy to carry and does feel durable. The battery has lasted for days for me before needing a charge. Overall, I'm really happy with it.

Good for your money

I bought tab A instead of S4 because of the price. If you know what you need there are no problem and complaints with it. Yes, it's not the fastest device, but quite adequate for my needs: web surfing, pictures viewing, Netflix, YouTube, occasional light games, banking, etc.Wi-Fi is fast, battery holds very well, charging fast as well. Screen quality is good, yes, side by side with tab S2 you see the difference, but when you just use it, picture is fine and bright.Micro SD card gives a lot of storage, so 32GB internal is good enough. Just buy Class 10 or higher.Built quality is good, tablet is solid and feels comfortable in hands.Cameras are nothing fancy but adequate for Skype and occasional pictures.Didn't experience crashes or freezes, have it for one ... MoreI bought tab A instead of S4 because of the price. Great for Media Consumption!
27 July 2019

I purchased this to replace my old Lenovo Tab A 10", which has been slowing down and taking much too long to charge now. I always preferred Samsung products over any other, particularly when it comes to tablets. I was not disappointed with this one when it arrived at my door. My only complaint is that is needs to be charged more frequently then the Lenovo, when it was new. Battery life is a major consideration for me whenever I make any tablet or laptop purchase, so I was hoping that this Galaxy Tab A would last much closer to it's advertised battery life per charge. While it comes close, it isn't as close as would have hoped. I still get a good 7 hours out of it before I have to plug it in though, so for the screen quality and amazing speakers, I won't complain. If I would have gotten 9 - 10 hours per charge, I would have rated this five stars. I would still recommend this though. I am the exceptional person who uses by tablet all day, predominantly for media consumption. You can't go wrong if you watch a lot of You Tube or Netflix, etc. This is wonderful, and one of Samsung's best.

Greatt Tablet

Ive had my Tab A since it release and it works great. Good battery, processor and onboard memory are excellent plus expandable micro SD slot. I use it for work and play but mainly work using all office apps etc in a case with keyboard and use it more then my laptop to work. No speed issues as others stated or battery charging, screen issues either. Left it on top of my car and found it 7 days later in December on the side of the interstate without any damage or issues and still powered up. I do not use otter cases or anything just the simple leather one and a glass screen protector. Charging takes an average time similar to galaxy S7 0 to 100% time. (Nearly impossible to run high-spec games, and some games run in low resolution. You can only change this by manually installing Samsung game tuner .apk)- Only up to 540p on Netflix (Even it has DRM L1 Widevine certificate)It is a decent device for people who are looking for video/text&pdf/pics machine. For me, processor is fine. Of course it is not as snappy as recent flagships but I think it still does the job for media consumption. I have not experienced any major bugs/lag yet. Lastly, I hope Samsung gives this device an update so it can stream HD netflix contents. I think that is the only downside as a media consumption device.

Missed Opportunity
19 April 2019

This model (SM-T580) is the second Samsung android tablet I'd purchased in recent months. The earlier model is the SM-T830, which I returned due to problems with a slow-moving processor and a fast-draining battery.Like the 830, the 580 has many positive attributes going for it -- including a good (through not great) screen; and excellent Android software. But like the 830, the 580 has hardware issues as well:1. It sometimes has real difficulty remaining connected to 5 gHzwi-fi;2. Video playback -- particularly on Google's own YouTube TV --is stuttering, at best (and shuts down entirely, at worst).I view this as a missed opportunity, because -- especially at this price point -- this model has plenty of promise. Tab A 10.5 inch all I expected after researching

Unfortunately many questions I had before buying went unanswered by retailers, including Best Buy geeks. It is almost impossible to get good product information from sales, guess that's why not called info-techs.Samsung needs to better inform retailers of features and updates on devices. So for fellow non geek seniors, lookup a list of android (O/S) operating systems and release dates so you are not buying a 2-3 year old device they are unloading. The Tab A has an IPS LCD Capacitive type of screen, and I found that the colors are vivid, text sharp, and overall a beautiful screen on the Tab A.MS Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote are free for tablets, however, tablets OVER a 10.1 inch size and the Tab A 10.5 is larger, so the documents are read ... MoreUnfortunately many questions I had before buying went unanswered by retailers, including Best Buy geeks. I found Office Suite-free in the play store to use with our old Microsoft office files. My tablet arrived with Oreo 8, however, I read that this device should receive at least one OS update so I should receive Android Pie soon.WiFi--This tablet has in the specs a dual band WiFi Radio (A/B/G/N, AC and dual band). If you have a 5GHZ capable router, it will connect to the fastest 5GHZ speed!According to information, this device accepted up to a 512 GB Micro SD card. That is one reason I did not decide to get iPad which does not. I will insert my old tablet SD card and copy any files I want to this new device. Its USB Port is a type C. and it has OTG (On the Go), which means with a USB/type C adapter, you can insert a USB Flash drive, USB mouse, USB keyboard (one at a time). Use this to copy files from your Flash drive to phone or vice versa) or it should be able to utilize type C adapter to HDMI if you don't use wireless. For a reasonable price, this Tab A is excellent. If you don't have to have lots of Internal Storage, then this TAB A is one you should consider.

I've had this device a few days now. On the plus side, it has excellent battery life, a large screen, and I really enjoy the fast charging via USB-C. The four speakers are good too.But the screen quality is noticeably poor to me for it's price. eg., images are more drab than I was expecting out of a tablet selling at over $400.Also, Samsung has stripped some helpful functionality from the device, even though these same features were available in earlier models. This schedule-able blue light feature is present in the older model SM-T580 (Galaxy Tab-a 10.1)Also, I was expecting the device to update to Android 9.0 (Pi), since this device was released at the end of August 2018, but its OS is currently sitting at 8.1.0.It comes with the standard amount of bloatware we've come to know from Samsung: your available storage will really start around 20GB. I would've liked to have seen S-pen support in this model, since the iPad in the same price bracket supports their Apple stylus, but it doesn't support S-pen technology.Sadly, I can't stomach Apple's OS ecosystem; but, if you can, the current iPad is a far superior device for roughly the same price.
