Featuring a captivating 12.4-inch AMOLED screen, the tablet boasts a resolution of 2800 x 1752 pixels. This results in a pixel density that ensures sharp visuals and detailed imagery. No complicated “child-proof” packaging to deal with, no excessive amount of plastic (or other environmentally-unfriendly) packaging to deal with (actually, there’s NO plastic), no unwrapping/unpackaging multiple items packaged in multiple smaller boxes inside the primary box. Simply remove the two ‘pull-tabs’ on the bottom of the box, remove the lid, pull out the tablet, remove the protective paper cover, and you’re ready to go. The S-Pen is nestled into its own ‘slot’, as are the two very small “boxes” containing the charging/data cable, and removal tool & quick start guide. Build quality is, as usual for Samsung tablets, excellent. I am not trying to put Apple down…but, I truly believe Samsung’s tablets to be of better build quality than iPads. The S9+ has the exact same dimensions as the S7+, but it is ever-so-slightly heavier (590g vs 560g). As for what causes it to be 30g heavier, honestly, I do not know…but, such a minor amount isn’t anything to worry about.SETUP:This is where I ran into a minor problem…although, resolving the problem didn’t take much effort. The ‘problem’ is that the tablet couldn’t be activated (it’s a 5G version) when I first turned it on. Why? Because the SN & IEMI wasn’t in the system (having received a production unit before they are made available for purchase by the general public, this can happen). Thankfully, a phone call, and providing certain information contained within the tablet, was all that was needed to get it activated. By the time these are available for sale, I am 100% certain the ‘problem’ I ran into will no longer exist. Thankfully, even while the ‘problem’ existed, I was able to go through the rest of the setup…I just couldn’t “access” anything. Did I mind the 20-minute phone call? Not really. Truth is, I’ve dealt with this same type of situation before…and, as such, I am better ‘equipped’ with how to resolve it.USE:First off, I want to cover one ‘negative’ I immediately discovered – for those with the keyboard cover from the Tab S7+, it will NOT work with the S9+ (the keyboard cover from the S8+ might, or might not, work…I have no clue). I quickly discovered that the back section wouldn’t work, as the camera lenses on the S9+ have a larger diameter. But, in seeing that the connectors along the bottom of the S9+ were identical to the connectors on the S7+, I figured the keyboard cover could still be used. Unfortunately, when I attached the keyboard section, I got a pop-up near the bottom of the screen informing me that the keyboard “was designed for a different device, and will not work properly”. As such, I now have no choice but to order the keyboard cover for the S9+ (before I finished typing this review, the keyboard cover has been ordered…and, according to the most recent email, it is shipping today).Since I don’t have a keyboard to use with the S9+, I can’t exactly fully test the new tablet. However, I AM still able to do some testing, such as benchmark tests. For the purpose of this review (and, to get the review posted quicker), I have elected to just use Geekbench 6. Before running the benchmarks, I could already tell the S9+ was faster than the S7+…but, by how much, I didn’t yet know. I ran the CPU tests first. The S7+ took 7:07, while the S9+ only took 5:22, which equates to approximately a 25% increase in speed on the newer tablet. Moving over to the GPU tests, and starting with the OpenCL tests, the S7+ took 3:10, while the S9+ completed the tests in almost half the time, at 1:40. Switching the GPU testing to Vulkan, the S7+ & S9+ completed these tests in 5:49 & 2:57, respectively…again, almost half the time. While the amount of time each test took to complete on the S9+ (compared to the S7+) was “amazing”, it’s the actual scores that were “beyond incredible”. The S7+ had the following scores – CPU 1273 single-core & 3183 multi-core, GPU Open CL 3385 & GPU Vulkan 3258. The S9+, on the other hand, scored the following – CPU 2070 single-core & 5423 multi-core, GPU Open CL 9524 & GPU Vulkan 8829. As you can see from the actual scores, the S9+’s actual performance is almost 3x that of the S7+. Considering the Tab S7 line came out only two years ago, the CPU & GPU performance increases are well beyond what I could have ever imagined.ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:For the most part, I don’t have any “additional thoughts”. I don’t (yet) have a keyboard, so I can’t put the tablet through any laptop-like testing. But, in terms of the benchmark tests, I am amazed. I’ve owned previous generations of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series of tablets, and, while there has always been ‘improvements’ in performance, this is the biggest jump I can recall.FINAL VERDICT:In short, I am VERY glad I skipped the S8+. The S9+ is such an amazing jump (past the S7+), that, had I purchased the S8+, and then realized the performance levels of the S9+, I would have been seriously annoyed at myself for having gotten the S8+. If you’re looking for your first tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ (or, if you really NEED a larger screen, the Tab S9 Ultra) should be your ONLY consideration. If you currently own a Galaxy Tab S7+ (or equivalent), or an older Android tablet…or, even a tablet from another brand…you should SERIOUSLY consider upgrading to the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Scratch that…don’t ‘consider’ it, just do it.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my new Galaxy Tab S9+! As an owner and user of many Samsung devices, I'm generally a fan of what they offer but this Tab S9+ has given me a few pleasant surprises that will ensure it remains one of my main day to day devices. The AMOLED screen is absolutely gorgeous - crisp and bright, it's perfect for streaming shows & movies or just looking at your own photos on a bigger screen. I can load this thing up with Movies & TV for when I'm on the go, and the 5G capabilities mean that I'm not tethered to a wifi point to make the most of the tablet. The device itself is so thin and light. The S pen is pretty cool, but not something I would personally use on a day to day basis. Now, some of the unexpected things I'm loving about the tablet. I'm able to use it as a second screen with my laptop, which is something that I have wanted to do with my tablet for aaages. In the past this involved installing 3rd party software or using hardware adapters (also with 3rd party software!) but now it's baked in to the OS and recognised natively on Windows. I usually work in a multi-monitor environment, so this is invaluable for working away from the office.I'm not usually impressed by the battery life of tablets I've owned in the past (including Samsung's own), but this thing easily lasts me all day - which is a nice surprise. I find myself charging it every couple of days (or just topping it up) with some medium use throughout the day, music playing for longer periods and plenty of standby. The in-screen fingerprint reader is really handy for unlocking the device (text input can be a bit of a pain depending on how you’re using/holding it) and it's great to see this included. All of this, however, comes at a hefty price tag - this is not an inexpensive purchase! There are many other (cheaper) options on the market. However, none of these come even close to what Samsung have are offering in terms of top of the line software and hardware in the Galaxy Tab S9+. Having made that jump, I can happily say I'm entirely satisfied with my purchase.

The Tab S9+ is a robust yet thin and light tablet that grabs your attention with its superb display and class leading build quality.Setting the tablet up for the first time, I was pleased with how quickly the OS let me personalise the look and feel of the tablet using the Theme app and screensaver app. While I was initially worried my favourite apps wouldn't work on such a large screen, they were all compatible, simply scaling to fit the display size.In the hand the tablet feels extremely slender, and were it not for the premium metal build I would have worried about bending or breaking it in when in a bag. Despite how thin it is, I wasn't pleasantly surprised that neither the battery life and general speed at which it undertakes day to day tasks have been compromised. To the contrary, the s9+ is remarkably smooth and loads apps and websites faster than any android device I've used and on par with my laptop. In fact, Samsung have included an option to use the tablet in a 'desktop' like experience using a mode called DeX, which works very well when connected to a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. On to my favourite thing about this tablet; the display. It is bright, punchy, incredibly detailed and runs smoothly at a high frame rate. I did fibd myself needing to invest in Samsung's anti-reflection screen cover as I often use the Tablet during train journeys and the constant reflections were a distraction. I'm happy to say this completely resolved the issues and in fact I find I can now comfortably view the display at a significantly lower brightness level, helping battery.Samsung have thrown the kitchen sink at this tablet to ensure they cover the needs of any user. For business users it's an excellent conferencing device with a high quality set of cameras, loud and crisp speakers and an array of microphones. For creatives, there is the S Pen which I enjoyed using from time to time but ended up leaving it in a drawer as it cannot be stored inside the tablet.I'm highly recommend the S9+ to anyone looking for a all singing and all dancing productivity and media powerhouse that is unapologetically premium, but you might find another tablet that satisfies a more limited use case at a lower price point.

As a regular Android user, all of my settings etc were effortlessly transferred during the setup process, and it was easy to get up and running with all the usual apps. One feature I particularly like is linking the phone and messaging apps to my phone, allowing calls and messages to be taken on either device depending on what is to hand.Multi-tasking is supported natively in OneUI, with picture-in-picture and side-by-side modes available. I've found it really handy to use the S-Pen to annotate and make notes on manuals and documents for work and university. DEX mode is also available, which allows a more desktop-like experience when working with a mouse and keyboard, either on the beautiful AMOLED, an external display, or both.Performance is phenomenal thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and 8GB of RAM. Even when combining demanding gaming with other background tasks, the tablet never shows any signs of slowing. I got 256GB of storage (128GB also available) and there's a microSD slot supporting up to an additional 1TB if required. With an Armor Aluminium casing, the Tab S9 can stand up to the bumps and scrapes of day-to-day life while still feeling lightweight and great in the hand. The IP68 rating on both tablet and S Pen means they've shrugged off rain and splashes, and should be able to handle a dunk if the worst happens! I chose to supplement this with a rugged case and screen protector, and Samsung offers a selection of accessories to help get the most out of the tablet, including Keyboard cases, privacy screens, and ruggedized outdoor cases. In summary, I was expecting a lot of this tablet, and have been blown away at every turn. It really is the ideal device for almost every situation, whether its working hard, wiling away a long journey with some Netflix, or just scrolling social media before bed.

I just bought a Galaxy Tab S9 Tablet following a trade-in promotion. It's not that I needed a new tablet, but they were offering $500.00 trade-in on my old Galaxy Tab S and even though it is in perfect working order, I'd never get that much for it if I tried to sell it. It's been slowing down lately, had no more room for apps (with only 16GB of primary storage) and needed to be retired. It's a real shame though, because I paired it with Samsung's companion hard-shell keyboard and I really appreciated the smaller 10.1" format. The S9 keyboard is not as rigid and looks a lot less durable. Also, why put a touchpad on the keyboard when you already have a touch-screen on the tablet? The S9 keyboard is not as rigid and looks a lot less durable. Also, why put a touchpad on the keyboard when you already have a touch-screen on the tablet? Especially when I have a much more responsive Bluetooth mouse that I used with my old tablet. The S9 is nice, fast and has 8x the storage, so that is appreciated. However, I ordered it with their gift box, which offered pre-installation of the screen protector; par for the course, though, I received the screen protector as a separate item. The install video made installation look easy - they don't tell you that the bubbles are impossible to squeegee away. The tablet came without instructions - another 'cost-saving' annoyance - you're expected to turn it on and follow the screen prompts, which are sometimes lacking in clarity. With my 53 years of computer experience, it wasn't much of a challenge, but I wonder how less computer-literate people would deal with this. The keyboard could also use some instructions - I must have received a multilingual keyboard with up to 4 symbols on the keys - good luck figuring out how to generate each symbol without searching the Web.This is definitely a step backward in user experience from my trusty Galaxy Tab S which admittedly has fewer features but also less confusion.Unless Samsung steps up and offers me a better trade-in value for my S8 phone, I will continue to use it until it dies, or until a phone with valuable new features comes on the market. All that said, if you need to actually buy a tablet, it's probably one of the better choices available, and I'm not saying that grudgingly.
The tablet has well and truly come of age. What was once seen as a somewhat hobbled computing experience can now offer something akin to laptop-like computing while still delivering a great viewing experience whether watching a movie or playing a game.If you’re invested in the Android eco-system and are looking for a portable device with some serious grunt then this year’s Galaxy Tab S9 range has to be top of your list for consideration - available in S9, S9+ and S9Ultra variants rocking 11in, 12.4in or 14.6in screens respectively. You can opt for WiFi-only or 5G connectivity and storage options from 128GB to 1TB.I took the S9 with 256GB of storage for a spin and even at this comparatively low-end of the range was seriously impressed by the power and smooth ... This version retailed for £899 at time of review (drawing rough parity with the pricepoints from last year’s S8 range). Some retailers are offering trade-in and the Slim Book Cover keyboard thrown in to sweeten the deal.Upgrades this time around mean AMOLED 2x screens across the range, with the S9 featuring a dynamically switching refresh rate and eye comfort baked in with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Elsewhere you’ll find an upgraded processor (an overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2), bigger quad speakers featuring Dolby Atoms, IP68 and improved dust and water resistance. The Tab S9 body is reinforced with Armour Aluminium and the range is available in two colours: Beige and Graphite. The inclusion of the S Pen stylus which a magnet can hold neatly in place on the rear of the device is truly transformative. Professional creators can also opt for a S Pen with a material design and wider tilt angel. The fact I’m still using a Tab S3 regularly is testament to just how useful it is as both an input device and the ability to parse scrawl to text makes this ideal for notes.Multi Window, DeX, and Second Screen functions make this a pleasure to use if you’re looking for a laptop-like device and the inclusion of GoodNotes for note taking and LumaFusion for video editing add to the creative possibilities.13Mp rear and 12Mp front cameras (with ultrawide cams on the + and Ultra) allow for the communicative possibilities we’ve come to expect while battery sizes are between 8400mAh and 11,200mAh making it possible to hit the road and power your day fairly successfully. All in all, if you’re looking for a portable computing device that delivers stunning entertainment, plays nicely with other An

The Main one being the IP Rating (It is this feature that made me switch from S8+ to S9+). Even Though i understand people may not see this as a much bigger improvement, but when I am spending that sort of money, having the IP68 Rating bring in added piece of mind. The colour reproduction in outer condition is another improvement over its predecessor. The New Chipset is also another significant area of improvement. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ WiFi has exceeded my expectations in every way.
