No complicated “child-proof” packaging to deal with, no excessive amount of plastic (or other environmentally-unfriendly) packaging to deal with (actually, there’s NO plastic), no unwrapping/unpackaging multiple items packaged in multiple smaller boxes inside the primary box. Simply remove the two ‘pull-tabs’ on the bottom of the box, remove the lid, pull out the tablet, remove the protective paper cover, and you’re ready to go. The S-Pen is nestled into its own ‘slot’, as are the two very small “boxes” containing the charging/data cable, and removal tool & quick start guide. Build quality is, as usual for Samsung tablets, excellent. I am not trying to put Apple down…but, I truly believe Samsung’s tablets to be of better build quality than iPads. The S9+ has the exact same dimensions as the S7+, but it is ever-so-slightly heavier (590g vs 560g). As for what causes it to be 30g heavier, honestly, I do not know…but, such a minor amount isn’t anything to worry about.SETUP:This is where I ran into a minor problem…although, resolving the problem didn’t take much effort. The ‘problem’ is that the tablet couldn’t be activated (it’s a 5G version) when I first turned it on. Why? Because the SN & IEMI wasn’t in the system (having received a production unit before they are made available for purchase by the general public, this can happen). Thankfully, a phone call, and providing certain information contained within the tablet, was all that was needed to get it activated. By the time these are available for sale, I am 100% certain the ‘problem’ I ran into will no longer exist. Thankfully, even while the ‘problem’ existed, I was able to go through the rest of the setup…I just couldn’t “access” anything. Did I mind the 20-minute phone call? Not really. Truth is, I’ve dealt with this same type of situation before…and, as such, I am better ‘equipped’ with how to resolve it.USE:First off, I want to cover one ‘negative’ I immediately discovered – for those with the keyboard cover from the Tab S7+, it will NOT work with the S9+ (the keyboard cover from the S8+ might, or might not, work…I have no clue). I quickly discovered that the back section wouldn’t work, as the camera lenses on the S9+ have a larger diameter. But, in seeing that the connectors along the bottom of the S9+ were identical to the connectors on the S7+, I figured the keyboard cover could still be used. Unfortunately, when I attached the keyboard section, I got a pop-up near the bottom of the screen informing me that the keyboard “was designed for a different device, and will not work properly”. As such, I now have no choice but to order the keyboard cover for the S9+ (before I finished typing this review, the keyboard cover has been ordered…and, according to the most recent email, it is shipping today).Since I don’t have a keyboard to use with the S9+, I can’t exactly fully test the new tablet. However, I AM still able to do some testing, such as benchmark tests. For the purpose of this review (and, to get the review posted quicker), I have elected to just use Geekbench 6. Before running the benchmarks, I could already tell the S9+ was faster than the S7+…but, by how much, I didn’t yet know. I ran the CPU tests first. The S7+ took 7:07, while the S9+ only took 5:22, which equates to approximately a 25% increase in speed on the newer tablet. Moving over to the GPU tests, and starting with the OpenCL tests, the S7+ took 3:10, while the S9+ completed the tests in almost half the time, at 1:40. Switching the GPU testing to Vulkan, the S7+ & S9+ completed these tests in 5:49 & 2:57, respectively…again, almost half the time. While the amount of time each test took to complete on the S9+ (compared to the S7+) was “amazing”, it’s the actual scores that were “beyond incredible”. The S7+ had the following scores – CPU 1273 single-core & 3183 multi-core, GPU Open CL 3385 & GPU Vulkan 3258. The S9+, on the other hand, scored the following – CPU 2070 single-core & 5423 multi-core, GPU Open CL 9524 & GPU Vulkan 8829. As you can see from the actual scores, the S9+’s actual performance is almost 3x that of the S7+. Considering the Tab S7 line came out only two years ago, the CPU & GPU performance increases are well beyond what I could have ever imagined.ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:For the most part, I don’t have any “additional thoughts”. I don’t (yet) have a keyboard, so I can’t put the tablet through any laptop-like testing. But, in terms of the benchmark tests, I am amazed. I’ve owned previous generations of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series of tablets, and, while there has always been ‘improvements’ in performance, this is the biggest jump I can recall.FINAL VERDICT:In short, I am VERY glad I skipped the S8+. The S9+ is such an amazing jump (past the S7+), that, had I purchased the S8+, and then realized the performance levels of the S9+, I would have been seriously annoyed at myself for having gotten the S8+. If you’re looking for your first tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ (or, if you really NEED a larger screen, the Tab S9 Ultra) should be your ONLY consideration. If you currently own a Galaxy Tab S7+ (or equivalent), or an older Android tablet…or, even a tablet from another brand…you should SERIOUSLY consider upgrading to the Galaxy Tab S9 series. Scratch that…don’t ‘consider’ it, just do it.

The other models (Tab S9 & Tab S9 Ultra) are almost identical on the inside but with different sized displays so that's more of a personal preference.I've always been a fan of optional MicroSD storage, which the Tab s9+ offers - however with 512GB of internal storage it really doesn't feel like I need it. I can load this thing up with Movies & TV for when I'm on the go, and the 5G capabilities mean that I'm not tethered to a wifi point to make the most of the tablet. The device itself is so thin and light. The S pen is pretty cool, but not something I would personally use on a day to day basis. Now, some of the unexpected things I'm loving about the tablet. I'm able to use it as a second screen with my laptop, which is something that I have wanted to do with my tablet for aaages. In the past this involved installing 3rd party software or using hardware adapters (also with 3rd party software!) but now it's baked in to the OS and recognised natively on Windows. I usually work in a multi-monitor environment, so this is invaluable for working away from the office.I'm not usually impressed by the battery life of tablets I've owned in the past (including Samsung's own), but this thing easily lasts me all day - which is a nice surprise. I find myself charging it every couple of days (or just topping it up) with some medium use throughout the day, music playing for longer periods and plenty of standby. The in-screen fingerprint reader is really handy for unlocking the device (text input can be a bit of a pain depending on how you’re using/holding it) and it's great to see this included. All of this, however, comes at a hefty price tag - this is not an inexpensive purchase! There are many other (cheaper) options on the market. However, none of these come even close to what Samsung have are offering in terms of top of the line software and hardware in the Galaxy Tab S9+. Having made that jump, I can happily say I'm entirely satisfied with my purchase.

A powerful and versatile tablet for any situation

The Tab S9+ is a robust yet thin and light tablet that grabs your attention with its superb display and class leading build quality.Setting the tablet up for the first time, I was pleased with how quickly the OS let me personalise the look and feel of the tablet using the Theme app and screensaver app. While I was initially worried my favourite apps wouldn't work on such a large screen, they were all compatible, simply scaling to fit the display size.In the hand the tablet feels extremely slender, and were it not for the premium metal build I would have worried about bending or breaking it in when in a bag. Despite how thin it is, I wasn't pleasantly surprised that neither the battery life and general speed at which it undertakes day to day tasks have been compromised. To the contrary, the s9+ is remarkably smooth and loads apps and websites faster than any android device I've used and on par with my laptop. In fact, Samsung have included an option to use the tablet in a 'desktop' like experience using a mode called DeX, which works very well when connected to a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. On to my favourite thing about this tablet; the display. It is bright, punchy, incredibly detailed and runs smoothly at a high frame rate. I did fibd myself needing to invest in Samsung's anti-reflection screen cover as I often use the Tablet during train journeys and the constant reflections were a distraction. I'm happy to say this completely resolved the issues and in fact I find I can now comfortably view the display at a significantly lower brightness level, helping battery.Samsung have thrown the kitchen sink at this tablet to ensure they cover the needs of any user. For business users it's an excellent conferencing device with a high quality set of cameras, loud and crisp speakers and an array of microphones. For creatives, there is the S Pen which I enjoyed using from time to time but ended up leaving it in a drawer as it cannot be stored inside the tablet.I'm highly recommend the S9+ to anyone looking for a all singing and all dancing productivity and media powerhouse that is unapologetically premium, but you might find another tablet that satisfies a more limited use case at a lower price point.

What a machine, having used this so far for work, gaming, videos and general day to day tasks I can safely say this is the best tablet I've owned yetThe screen is absolutely stunning, deep inky blacks paired enough peak brightness to make HDR highlights pop.The 16:10 aspect is great, giving the ideal compromise for both media consumption and multi-tasking/productivty. Makes the perfect secondary display when being used with a windows laptop (doesn't have to be Samsung for this feature). If you're using it standalone and need to get some work done, slap a keyboard/mouse case on it and load up DEX, it's desktop-like environment allowing you to multi-task just as you would on Windows. Even opening almost every Office app including Teams, Citrix and a lot of browser tabs, I was never close to maxing the 12GB RAM.S-Pen has been amazing for taking notes, annotating and signing documents.Extremely responsive and will work even if you forget to actually charge it on the back of the tablet as only the button functions need chargeConnect a Samsung phone to it and calls/texts can be taken straight from the tablet. If using 2FA for work, the shared clipboard is super handy to copy from the phone and paste to the tablet seamlesslyIn terms of media consumption, the speakers are fantastic for this form factor.Be sure to enable Dolby Atmos as this is not turned on out of the box, that really expands the soundstage and makes it a lot more immersive. As mentioned the screen is absolutely amazing and the CPU in this can handle everything you throw at it from Game Pass to Genshin Impact without skipping a beat.Battery life so far has been good at about 8 -10 hours of screen on time depending on my usage. If you need a tablet that looks and feels premium, can be used for work, play and everything in between, this is it.

The Multi-Active Window feature allows users to run up to three apps simultaneously, enhancing productivity by letting you seamlessly switch between tasks. This level of multitasking is not as refined on the iPad, making the Tab S9+ a preferred choice for those who need to use multiple apps at once.Included with the tablet BTW, the S Pen offers precise and responsive input, making it ideal for note-taking, drawing, and creative tasks. While the iPad also offers stylus compatibility, the S Pen's integration with the Tab S9+ feels more seamless and responsive, providing a more natural writing and drawing experience. Pair this tablet with a powerful app like Infinite Painter and you have nothing to envy while producing digital art its a MUST. BUY. I LOVE IT!

It's incredibly responsive and accurate, making note-taking and creative tasks feel natural and intuitive. The tablet's battery life is also commendable, I can go through an entire day of usage without worrying about running out of power.Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S8+ WiFi, the Tab S9+ (and the included S Pen) boasts several noticeable improvements. The Main one being the IP Rating (It is this feature that made me switch from S8+ to S9+). Even Though i understand people may not see this as a much bigger improvement, but when I am spending that sort of money, having the IP68 Rating bring in added piece of mind. The colour reproduction in outer condition is another improvement over its predecessor. The New Chipset is also another significant area of improvement. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ WiFi has exceeded my expectations in every way. Its cutting-edge features, powerful performance, and sleek design make it a top-tier tablet on the market. If you're looking for a device that can effortlessly blend work and play while offering a truly premium experience, the Galaxy Tab S9+ WiFi is the way to go. It's a true testament to Samsung's commitment to innovation and excellence.

As soon as the S9+ arrived I was amazed at how light it was. I have last year's S8 and this model is only marginally heavier given the size difference! The screen really comes to life and you can especially notice the difference that the Dynamic Amoled HDR10+ screen makes compared to the older TFT10 LCD when watching content that has darker scenes! In terms of intial setup this was a breeze!A simple QR code scan from my existing galaxy device and all my accounts and data were copied over within minutes.I popped a 5g SIM in, that got recognised automatically and after as quick reboot I receive fairly decent download/upload speeds (albeit these are more reliant on the carrier and not the tablet itself).Performance is extremely snappy, and I love love love the ... MoreAs soon as the S9+ arrived I was amazed at how light it was. These were very quick to apply and I've not had any app glitches/or os crashes. It seems very stable to me out of the box.The cameras on the device are very good, certainly a lot better than any other tablets I've used over the years. I can certainly see myself using this for video calls with family, and potentially work meetings when I'm travelling.Battery life is still something I'm testing and will become more apparent with continued usage but so far it's been exceptional. I received it with roughly 67% charge, and I watched over 1 hour of video content on Netflix and literally lost maybe 2-3% whilst using Bluetooth headphones. The stereo speakers are very good! You can achieve decent levels of loudness that is more than enough to cater for a fairly large living room without distortion and decent bass! Clearly not a replacement for a proper sound system but much better than many mobile Bluetooth speakers and existing tablets. One thing I'm having to adjust to now is having an indisplay fingerprint reader rather than having one built into the power button like on my previous tab S8. It's not of major concern as setup and recognition of the fingerprint is fast. I've not had any instances where it hasn't recognised my fingerprint yet in both daylight and lowlight. In conclusion I'm really happy with my purchase decision and look forward to using this tablet going forward!
